Boardwalk’s Operations Manager, Peter<br />

Tshidi, received the award at the<br />

Eastern Cape provincial awards ceremony in East London recently. Last year<br />

The Boardwalk Hotel won a Lilizela Tourism Award for excellence in the fivestar<br />

accommodation category. The Boardwalk is not only popular for its 5-star<br />

hotel, but also offers a unique entertainment, dining and conference venue. In<br />

addition it is the only licensed casino in Port Elizabeth, and is near both the city<br />

centre and all the most popular city beaches.<br />

Joburg ranked top African city destination<br />

6.2 per cent increase on last<br />

year’s 3.39-million visitors, says Mark Elliott, Division President South Africa<br />

for Mastercard. Cairo came in at 1.5-million international overnight visitors<br />

followed by Cape Town at 1.4-million visitors, Casablanca in Morocco with<br />

1-million visitors, and Durban with 831,000 visitors. The Mastercard Index not<br />

only provides a ranking of the 132 most visited cities around the world, but also<br />

projects estimates for visitor volume and spend for the 2016 calendar year,<br />

enabling a better understanding of how people travel and spend around the<br />

world. Johannesburg also came out tops in Africa in terms of international<br />

visitor spend, with travellers expected to spend US$1.73-billion in 2016, most<br />

of it coming from visitors from London, followed by visitors from Paris, Harare,<br />

Frankfurt and Maputo.<br />

Swaziland Tourism Authority representatives in South Africa and was aired on<br />

the Top Billing Show on Thursday 17 November. Swaziland Tourism Authority<br />

says their country may be the smallest in the Southern Hemisphere “but it<br />
