Hannah Morgan - Oboe
Hannah Morgan studied with Melanie Ragge at the Royal Academy
of Music and graduated in 2013 with First Class Honours. Her postgraduate
studies included three years in Germany where, as a member
of the Karajan Academy, she studied with Jonathan Kelly and performed
regularly with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra with Sir Simon Rattle.
Hannah is also the recipient of numerous prizes, including the Hattori
Foundation Senior Award, Leila Bull Oboe Prize and 1st Prize (the Evelyn
Rothwell Memorial Prize) at the Third International Barbirolli Competition.
As a selected musician for the Tillett Trust Young Artists’ Platform and
Countess of Munster Recital Scheme, she regularly gives recitals and
concerto performances across the UK and made her debut at Wigmore
Hall in November 2016.
Hannah is enthusiastic about music education, recently writing and
directing five children’s concerts for the Berlin Philharmonic. She played
Principal Oboe in the premiere of Jonathan Dove’s Opera, Monster in the
Maze, and also alongside the Soma Children’s Orchestra for a project
organised by El Sistema Japan. She has been a tutor for the National Youth
Wind Ensemble of Great Britain, regularly runs schools’ workshops and
recently accepted an Open Academy Fellowship at the Royal Academy of
Music for the 2016-17 season.
