The ultrapure water generation process removes contaminants from the water by using a series<br />
of unit operations to obtain pure water. There are various types of contaminants such as organic<br />
or inorganic compounds, dissolved or particulate matter, and various kinds of dissolved gasses<br />
that may be reactive or inert. The water is treated in three stages for obtaining high purity<br />
water. In the pretreatment stage, the first stage purified water is produced. In the next stage,<br />
that is, the primary stage, the water is further purified. The last stage is the polishing stage<br />
which uses electro deionization. This stage is the most expensive owing to the use of highly<br />
specialized and sophisticated equipment.<br />
