Supply held a special PAW event honoring local law
enforcement and working K9s and Northeast Correctional
Complex was invited to bring and showcase their K9 Unit.
Corporal William Lambert and K9 Officer Bobby Taylor
took K9s Banjo (Bloodhound) and Maverick (Belgian
Malinois) to the PAW showcase. Both K9s were a big hit;
kids and adults alike were in awe of their tracking and
searching skills. Both loved showing off for the crowd
and it didn't hurt that no one could pass without petting
them.
A ‘Day Of Hope’
NECX’s K9 Unit was very humbled to be offered such
praise and given such recognition, and appreciate
Tractor Supply Company for organizing the PAW event.
September is recognized as National Recovery Month: a
time to recognize the work being done battling drug and
alcohol addiction as well as celebrate the successes of
those who have begun their journey towards sobriety.
The Day Reporting Center(DRC) in Johnson City held
their 3rd annual ‘Day of H.O.P.E (Helping Others Promote
Education)’, an educational program for the families and
friends of the DRC clients. During the program, DRC staff
held presentations on a variety of topics, including an
in-depth discussion on what addiction is, what causes it
and how families can help their loved ones overcome
addiction. The three phases of the DRC were also
explained and the families in attendance were given
ideas and resource materials regarding how they can get
involved with their loved ones progress.
“Our ultimate goal today is to educate the families [of
DRC clients] on addiction and the importance of their
involvement,” said DRC therapist Suzanne Runion.
“Better knowledge and understanding of addiction makes
stronger foundations for families helping a loved one
battle addiction.”
NECX K9 Unit Honored During Pet
Appreciation Week
During the second week of September, Tractor Supply
Company stores all across Tennessee held events in
recognition of Pet Appreciation Week (PAW)!
On Saturday, September 17, the Elizabethton, TN Tractor
Reducing Recidivism by Reuniting Families
“I’m 40 years old and have a daughter that I’ll get to meet
for the first time tomorrow,” says one of the 25 offenders
listening to the guest speaker discuss the importance of a
being a strong, positive father figure. “My dad is in here
with me. That’s two generations behind these walls. I’ve
got to prevent it from being three.”
The 25 offenders were a part of ‘One Day with God,” a
two-day program held at the Northeast Correctional
Complex. Presented by Forgiven Ministries, the two-day
program aims to encourage offenders to reconcile with
