My first year as owner of <strong>Haslemere</strong> Travel has certainly<br />
been busy and eventful! Having just returned from two<br />
amazing trips to Jordan (see page 8), I barely had time to<br />
dust the sand off my shoes before flying to Lisbon for the<br />
last little jaunt of the year. But that’s the way we like it here<br />
– our passion for travel and our frequent visits to worldwide<br />
luxury destinations, in search of up-to-date knowledge and<br />
exclusive benefits for our clients, is what sets us apart from<br />
any other travel company. As they say, it’s not always what<br />
you know, but who you know. (We’re thrilled Joanna Lumley<br />
told us her travel tales, see page 11...)<br />
We have also been working hard on organising new<br />
events. The latest of these is our exciting <strong>Haslemere</strong><br />
Travel Literary Evening in May, which will be part of the<br />
<strong>2017</strong> <strong>Haslemere</strong> Festival.<br />
The Russian theme for this special occasion includes<br />
Anna Pasternak, author of a new book about the woman<br />
who inspired her great-uncle, Boris Pasternak, to write Dr<br />
Zhivago; as well as Downton Abbey’s celebrated producer<br />
Liz Trubridge, who will be bringing the book to TV screens<br />
soon. Excitingly, we will also be launching a bespoke<br />
Russian travel experience in partnership with Kirker Holidays.<br />
One of my happiest tasks in 2016 has been to proudly<br />
collect several industry awards on behalf of the team,<br />
which take pride of place in our shop. And in the spirit of<br />
rewards, it is my great pleasure to announce that for the<br />
first time, <strong>Haslemere</strong> Travel will be rewarding loyal clients<br />
with the opportunity to win a Caribbean holiday, to be taken<br />
in 2018. Every client who books a holiday with us in <strong>2017</strong><br />
will be entered into the prize draw – the more you book, the<br />
more entries you will receive (see page 13 for more details.)<br />
