FINDING
THE RIGHT

The creator of WIPP. A
BIANCA
HARRIS
make-up
Beauty. Can we say, she's the
ultimate #BossBabe ?
We got the chance to speak
one-on-one with Miss Bianca
Harris. One of Toronto's most
notable, she shared some of
her most coveted advice with
us!
Tell us about yourself?
My names Bianca. I am a makeup
artist, content creator and Founder
of Wipp. I am passionate about
female empowerment and being
creative. I have been creatively
fueled since I was a kid. I am an
ideas person and I love seeing things
come to life.
How did you get into the Make-up
industry?
I used to be a dancer from the ages
of 3-17. So I have been doing my
own makeup forever. I kind of fell
into it by default but grew to love it
very much.
TOLD "SOMEONE
IF YOU WEAR ME
MAKEUP YOUR
BED ONE TO
IT AGES NIGHT
SKIN 28 YOUR
DAYS"

As a make-up artist, you live, eat,
and sleep beauty, not to mention,
tried and tested it all. What are
some of your favorite beauty
products?
I wear the same thing everyday lol. So
for me a really good concealer I like
benefit erase paste, a super dewy
highlighter I use Becca Opal in the
liquid version and a good matte lip,
buxom has a fantastic lip foundation
that stays on very well.
You have amazing skin. Simply
flawless. So, what are some of the
tips & tricks or best advice, you can
share with us, on how to maintain
a flawless face?
Take your makeup off every night (no
matter how many you've had to
drink). Someone told me if you wear
your makeup to bed one night it ages
your skin 28 days lol so I've stuck with
that. and coconut oil as a moisturizer
every night.
Your YouTube Channel, The
Look Beauty is doing really
well. How do you maintain a
sense of originality with so
many other channels & makeup
artist out there?
I don't watch many tutorials so
that helps so I don't inadvertently
"steal" their ideas and I just do
what I like. That's pretty much it!
If you could share one piece of
advice for people starting out
in the beauty industry or
starting their own business,
what would it be?
JUST. DO. IT. + GET A MENTOR +
STOP DELAYING THIS IS YOUR
ONLY LIFE.
So Switching things up. First,
congratulations on your WIPP
event! We heard so many great
things about it! Can you tell us,
a bit about WIPP & how did it
come about?
I came up with this idea to have
an event to support and
empower women. I thought of
this idea based on my
experiences and wishing I had a
space like this when I was
starting out. And thank you.
What is the biggest lesson
you’ve learned from starting
your own business or YouTube
Channel?
Be yourself. Be authentic. Be
stern. Be passionate Get
everything in writing.
So, what’s next for Miss Bianca
Harris?
Who knows! Big things coming
up for WIPP in 2017. But i try to
take life day by day and try and
stay present. You will have to
wait and see ;)
Lastly, how are you Well
Connected?
I dont know how to answer this
question if you tell me i will :)
A born #Hustler, Rachel Alexander has
many things on the go. We caught up with
this beauty to see what's next for her &
how she's building her brand through
Keep Collective.
Tell us about yourself
I am a 32-year-old artist, designer,
champagne drinker, jewelry hoarder,
devoted follower of fashion, restless soul,
raiser of babies..
How did you get started with Keep
Collective?
My friend Nichole posted about it on
Facebook, and I was instantly infatuated. I
fell hard and fast. It was like nothing I had
ever seen before. I knew I needed to be a
part of it. I immediately signed up to be an
Independent Designer.

What is your design style and where do you
source your inspiration?
My fashion style is monochromatic neutral with a
bit of edge. I think of it as a sort of feminine
grunge. I love mixing “pretty” and “tough”. This
aesthetic also informs my jewelry design choices.
Combining fancy jewels with pyramid studs, and
using metals and mesh to toughen up a more
traditional look. My graphic design aesthetic is very
clean and minimal, and I enjoy using negative
space. As far as inspiration, my main influence is
Instagram because you can access such an
enormous range of creativity in a single space. I
feel like everything on Instagram is so fresh and
current. I also love We Heart It, and am obsessed
with street style blogs. Street style is so creative
and outside-the-box, it’s great for seeing what
combinations other people put together that you
would never imagine. I would have NEVER used
both gold and silver in the same look until I saw it
on a style blog. I thought that was against the rules!
Now I’m all about mixed metals, and have learned
that when it comes to fashion and accessories,
there really are no rules.
What challenges have you faced this year with
your business?
Trying to branch out from my personal circle of
friends and acquaintances and grow my customer
base has by far been my biggest challenge. It’s easy
to share something you are passionate about, but
getting people who don’t know you to listen to you
is difficult. I feel that in this day-in-age, with
everyone selling something on social media, you
have to work extra hard to stand out and show that
you are genuine. A lot of people get into direct
sales to make quick money, but I got into it because
I really love the message that Keep Collective
represents, and believe it is a truly unique product
that I want to share with everyone. Getting people
to see that can be difficult. I read somewhere once
that, “No one wants to be sold to, but everyone
wants to buy”. I am always trying to share my
product in an honest, personal way, without being
too “salesy”, it can be a very delicate balance to
figure out
Is this a side hustle or your full-time gig?
Although this isn’t technically my “day job”, I
definitely put the same amount of hours into it that
I do my full-time job. I am constantly designing new
looks, photographing them, editing photos, posting
to social media, brainstorming new ways to
connect with people, hosting design sessions,
and creating my own marketing pieces. It
honestly doesn’t even feel like work because
it’s so fun. It’s my creative outlet. As far as my
full-time job, I am a nanny to two tiny humans
who are my everything. They are my very
favorite people on this planet, and I love them
more than I can imagine ever loving anything
else in life.
Are there any upcoming projects you’re
working on?
I am currently working on a new format for my
online design sessions, and am considering
starting my YouTube channel back up again to
try and reach a wider audience.
What are your goals for 2017?
To grow my customer base and get out of my
comfort zone. You have to make big moves to
get big rewards. To enroll at least 3 new
designers on my team, and successfully coach
them so that they can grow their business as
well. To not spend my entire paycheck the
second I earn it. To work out more, and drink
more champagne (hey, you gotta have balance).
How are you Well Connected?
I am Well Connected because I have a true
passion for creativity. I am constantly collecting
inspiration from everyone and everything
around me, and adapting it in a way that is
relevant to my brand, and my business. I enjoy
studying the accomplishments and experience
of others, and finding ways to use what they
have learned to help me grow as a professional
and find success in my own business.
A master at Social Media &
she sings! Samantha
Savoia shares how she
does it.
Tell us about Samantha
Savoia
I am the owner of a small
marketing company called
SS Social which specializes in
online marketing partiality
for social media.
But, other than SS Social,
we know that you are a
musician - Tell us where
did that stem from
Yes, I am a musician. I've
been doing music for a really
long time now and play the
flute, guitar, sax & sing. You
know, I did the whole band
thing in Toronto, sold the
tickets and hustled that way.
LOL. I did music videos and it
kind of just steamed form
there. Music is my love!
How did you get into the
social business?
Well, I actually went to
school for PR, but shortly
after college, I realized that's
not really what I want to do.
Luckily for me, I feel into
social media and I just have
a thing for it. I just love it. It
became a business. I found
what I really loved to do as a
career, but I still have my
music on the side.
What & how are you
learning about social
media, as it's always
changing?
For starters, my clients are
always teaching me
something different. Their
teaching me things in their
field. On top of that, I do a
lot of research. I conduct
research through my clients
and their companies and
through others in their
fields. As for my own
business, I mean I learn
things on the internet & I do
take courses. I went to Social
Media Week in New York &
Los Angeles, so I learn a lot
of things from going to
those. However, I find I learn
a lot form other people in
my field.
SAMANTHA SAVOIA - SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERT
SS SOCIAL

How do you structure your
day? Is this a full-time job
or a side hustle?
No, this is a full-time thing. A
typical day for me is getting
up early, (I hate sleeping in,
because I feel like the day is
totally wasted by 9 o'clock) I
go to the gym and then start
my work day at 11 o'clock.
However, If I know that a
client has to have a certain
posting out early in the
morning, then of course,
that's what I'll do. But
typically, it's like I get up,
check emails, check
Instagram for every single
client and then their
analytics. - It's constant
social media. It's constant
work, but it’s always
different.
If you could name one
thing that's aided in the
success of SS Social, what
would it be?
Having a friend with your
clients, instead of it always
being about business that
has aided to the success of
SS Social.
What have you
accomplished that's really
excited you in 2016?
My biggest accomplishment
has been putting myself out
there. You might not believe
this but, I'm really, really shy.
When it comes to talking
about myself, promoting
myself, putting myself & my
personal brand out there.
It's so hard. - so I would say,
this is really my biggest
accomplishment so far.
What is one misconception
people about you?
People underestimate my
abilities and capabilities all
the time. They don't realize
there's more to me than
meets the eye. I guess
people don't realize I do a lot
and have a lot underneath
my belt. They see one thing
on social and assume that's
it.
If you could offer advice to
people starting their own
business, what would it?
Just do it.
How are you Well
Connected?
I am Well Connected with my
clients & my family & I am
Well Connected on social
media. It's the only way I am
really connected to people.
SS SOCIAL

Taylor
Kratzer is,
The She.E.O
This #BossBabe totally inspires us
with her She.E.O magic & her ability to
empower women to channel their
inner #GirlBoss. Taylor Kratzer knows
what’s up when it comes to brand
promotion. That's why we talked to
her about her brand and the advice
she has for other entrepreneurs.
Who is Taylor Kratzer?
I would consider myself a "bomb" girl lol.
You're thinking what?? But I am! You'll
catch me almost every night relaxing in
tub with a bath bomb. I'm a girl who's
likely drop an occasional "F" bomb during
a passionate conversation. And I spend
most of my time dropping bombs of
business building info on social media or
a client. "
Who is the She.E.O & what is she all
about?
You are the She.E.O. My clients, my
followers, my fans. Anyone who wants to
become apart of my brand. They, You,
you as a woman, are a She.E.O. The
She.E.O encompasses that woman who
doesn't necessarily fit into the corporate
world or finds herself struggling to feel
happy in the corporate world. The
She.E.O is about using Instagram, using
branding to discover who you are and
how to tell the world who you are.

What does a typical
day look like for the
She.E.O?
It's not a perfect typical
day, I still have a 9-5.
However, a typical day
for me would start on
The She.E.O side at 5
p.m. I make sure to
have all me emails setup
for the que. I do go
ahead and plan my
content ahead,
so I want to make sure
there's nothing wrong
with my emails. Then, I
hangout on Periscope,
almost everyday and
work on behind the
scenes things. Such as
any future projects I am
launching or books that
I am working on.
What do you think has
been an essential part
of the success of The
She.E.O so far?
That's really though, but
I would say consistency.
There's a fine line
between being
extremely passionate
and consistent. It's a
common thing most
people say, but until I
actually started doing it,
and realizing that being
consistent actually
works. I noticed that it
has become one of the
biggest factor to the
growth of The She.E.O.
Tell us about one of your
accomplishments in 2016
The biggest
accomplishment for The
She.E.O is really on a
personal level. I have been
look in the mirror and have
felt so proud of myself in
the best way possible, more
than I've ever felt in my life.
I will lay down at night and
get so emotional and
consumed with
fulfillment. When you
finally discover what you're
passionate about and
you're seeing results &
helping other people, the
testimonials I am getting &
the relationships that I'm
building, you can not pay
for that!
What lesson have you
learned throughout the
process of starting your
business?
The biggest lesson I have
learned is you're not going
to ever really know all of it.
LOL. You're never really
going to be 100% ready to
do it. So, the biggest lesson
I've learned is to don't try
to be perfect. It's never
going to be a perfect launch
or a perfect e-book. You
just have to go for it and
trust the process.
How are you well
Connected?
I am Well Connected
because anytime I don't
close a sale I try to open a
relationship.

Chabrol
What is Chabrol?
Chabrol is a tucked away Parisian inspired oasis
hidden in the alleys of Yorkville. It is a taste of
the south of France integrated into the upscale
life of Toronto. Co-owner & chef Doug Penfold,
really knows how to give his customers a
luxurious experience at affordable price.
Our first time at Chabrol was unforgettable. We
enjoyed the Pork Liver Mousse with Toast and
Pickled Turnip to start, along with the Braised
Lamb with Glazed Turnips and Thyme for our
main. The venue is small & quiet, which is the
perfect setting to enjoy a client date for two.
Our Experience
Why it's a great place to eat
1) They have diverse menu with luxurious
game meats & tantalizing side dishes.
2) It's in the swanky area of Yorkville in Toronto.
Yet, it's alley entrance and cobble stones, gives
the place a Parisian feel.
3) This 19 seater restaurant is a quiet & intimate
space made by reservations only and is perfect
for a private meeting.
4) The staff are amazing & the manager is
extremely accommodating to food and guest
needs.
5) The food is prepared right behind you which
enhances the experience. Plus, there is a great
view of their alley-like patio.
Overall, the service is world class and the
Chabrol staff are extremely attentive. More so,
the food is impeccable and to top it off, you
don't have to wait long to be served!
EASY PERIOD.
Period
Alyssa Bertram, founder of
Easy Period shares some
interesting facts about
tampons & the effects of
non-organic products.
Tell us about yourself. Who
is Alyssa Bertram?
I am 26, from Toronto. I
studied psychology and have
always had a passion for
understanding people. I'm
very analytical and love to
read, be in nature and listen
to music.
How did you get into the hygiene industry &
why?
It's funny how these things happen. I got into the
industry because as a customer of it, I wished
something existed. I wanted my tampons delivered
and because I didn't have access to this I created it.
I also wanted people to better understand that
they should be conscious of the ingredients in their
menstrual hygiene products.
For those who don’t know, what is easy Period?
easy. is a subscription delivery service for 100%
organic cotton menstrual hygiene products. We
deliver your tampons and pads every three months
and donate on your behalf to providing pads to
girls in Kenya.
Easy Period – how did the name come about?
I was brainstorming names for the service and I
wanted something really simple, preferably one
word. The word easy came to mind and I thought
throw a period on there and we've got a double
entendre!
Tell us about Easy Period’s connection with
ZANAAFRICA Foundation?
Zana Africa Foundation supports
Kenyan girls to stay in school by
providing pads and health
education. It was important for
us to include a social
responsibility component into
the service
because our research was
showing us that so many people
lack access to these products.
We've partnered with Zana Africa
Foundation to donate 5% of all
profits to their work.
What challenges are attached
to your job?
As a start-up, our biggest
challenge is just getting the word
about us out there. It's the type
of service that resonates with
many people, it's just a matter of
letting them know it exists!

Where can people go to
purchase Easy Period products?
www.easyperiod.ca
Tell us something about periods that
most of us don’t know.
A lot of people don't know that tampon
companies are not legally obligated to
disclose the ingredients in their
products. This means you know what's
in your t-shirt but not in your tampon.
This is scary because it often means
that chemicals and synthetic fibers are
sitting in the super permeable tissue of
your vagina for hours at a time.
This is why organic cotton products
with no chemicals, no pesticides, no
synthetic fibers are so important.
What is one thing you wish someone
told you about starting a business &
becoming an entrepreneur?
I don't necessarily wish someone told
me something because I'm the type
that despite being told tends to prefer
to learn the hard way. With that being
said, one thing I hadn't realized is that
starting a business teaches you so
much about yourself. It's really a
personal journey as much as it is a
professional one and I hadn't realized
that going in.
What can people expect next from
you & Easy Period?
People can expect the service to keep
improving, keep becoming more
streamlined. We continue to seek
feedback from our subscribers so that
this can be a service that really changes
to meet subscribers needs.
Lastly, how are you Well Connected?
I am well connected in that I only do
those things that are really authentic to
me and authentic to the brand. This
connects me to like-minded individuals
and people who are truly attracted to
the idea.
THE ART OF AJANI
A Vegan based brand that is cruelty-free,
handmade and Canadian!, needless to
say, we're in love. We caught up with
Yasheda Johnson to talk about whats
next for Ajani Cosmetics.
Tell us a bit about yourself, your
background / education and who you are.
I'm a 20 something year old, self taught
beauty enthusiast, turned kitchen chemist. I
took Travel in College, and at some point I
thought I wanted to be a chef. I definitely
was a bit all over the place, but throughout
everything, in my heart I always knew that I
wanted to be doing something beauty
related.
What is the history behind Ajani
Cosmetics – How did this brand come to
be? I, very briefly, did freelance makeup, and
because it's such a competitive field, I quickly
realized that if I wanted to really stand out
and make my mark, I would need to do
something a bit different. I told a good friend
of mine that I wanted to start my own
cosmetics line, she offered me some great
advice, and the rest is history!
Why cosmetics, why lipsticks? I feel like no
matter the makeup look, it always comes
together with a bomb lip colour. I felt like
lipstick is something that every woman uses,
and it would allow me to be as creative as I
wanted to be.

I can go as far outside of the box
as I want, and I know that it will
appeal to at least one person.
What is unique about Ajani
Cosmetics & where / how are
your products made? I think
what makes my brand unique is
that it's Vegan, and everything is
made by hand. I take a lot of
pride in creating each lipstick, I
know what's in it, I know how it
wears, how it feels on the lips, it's
just a very hands on process for
me. Once the finished product is
ready, it's such an awesome
feeling to see women feeling
empowered, and sexy while
wearing something I've created.
To succeed in life, you… need to
kick down the walls, and never
give up on your dreams.
If you weren’t creating beautiful
lip colours, you’d be…I'd
probably be a chef. Ever since I
was little, I have loved to be in the
kitchen. If I could be a chef, I
definitely would.
What are you working on for
2017 – Are you planning to
expand the line? For 2017, I'm
working on simplifying the product
line up, and offering 8-10 of the
most popular shades. I'm also
looking to introduce a range of
face products.
What is your favorite lip colour
from your line & why? My
absolute favourite shade would be
"Toni". It's a nude brown, with a
slight hint of mauve. It was
inspired by my friend who has
seen Ajani go from an idea to a
reality, so it was created as a thank
you to her, for all her support.
How are you Well Connected?
I've made it my mission to do a lot
more networking in 2017, so I can
be better connected with other
creatives and entrepreneurs.
Lastly, How can people get in
contact with you?
IT'S A PAWTY, IT'S A PAWTY, IT'S A PAWTY EHY!
Something borrowed,
something blue. Purple
waffle burger buns, now
that's something new! - We
want to be a part of this
pawty, so we caught up
with Louise Mangalino to
find out how.
Tell us about yourself –
who is behind the Burger
Pawty?
My name is Louise
Mangalino and I am the HBIC
(Head Barbie in Charge) of
Burger Pawty. You’re
probably wondering where
the Barbie part comes from,
and if you don’t already
know, I’ve had a burger blog
for a few years now (six to
be exact), called BURGERS
AND BARBIE$. I’m a pinkobsessed,
sparkle-filled
woman, in love with
everything that has to do
with food.
Tell us, how the name,
Burger Pawty came about –
What is a Burger Pawty?
The name “Burger Pawty” is
actually the brainchild of my
former partner, Jessica
Lagman, and I. We were
trying to think of a name of
the (supposed) one-day
burger pop-up event we
were planning to host back
in August 2015. We
brainstormed for a bit, but
came up with nothing. We
left it alone for a bit, but the
wheels in my head kept
turning. I thought about my
favourite words and which
words made me excited and
I thought “party.” During our
next meeting, I told
Jessica that I had an idea for
the name of the event and
suggested “Burger Party.”
She loved it, but suggested
to use the word “Pawty”
because it sounded cuter
I checked hashtags and
Instagram and Twitter handles
and saw that the name wasn’t
taken, so I swooped in. The
rest is history!
What was the inspiration
behind The Burger Pawty?
Burger Pawty has always been
a dream of mine… it just didn’t
have a name yet. When I
started my burger blog, the
places I went to didn’t really
entice me creatively. I teamed
up with Jessica for Burger
Pawty because we wanted to
showcase a different approach
to burgers.
What if I could have a burger
done my way? What would it
look like? Thus, The OG Barbie
Burger was born: an all-beef
patty, topped with white
cheddar cheese, a pickled
watermelon

adish and a secret pink sauce, in
between two pink waffle buns. In
addition to The Barbie Burger, we
had Pawpcorn and three other
burgers on the roster, as well: The
Malibu Burger (veggie), The Hooked
Burger (beef and pork belly) and
The Anchor Burger (seafood).
Being two females in a male-driven
industry, we knew that this event
had to be an ode to women. We
rounded up an all-female lineup for
the event, which consisted of a
butcher, a DJ, a sweet maker, photo
booth owners/operators, and then
some! We even had a mini gallery at
our event, showcasing local female
artists and their work. I was
responsible for the branding,
marketing and PR of the company
and Jessica was responsible for the
food. The results exceeded our
expectations by a mile, and after the
inaugural Burger Pawty, we got a
few interesting offers to cater
special events that we just couldn’t
refuse… and the requests haven’t
stopped since!
What is your favorite part of this
industry or favorite part of your
job?
My favourite part of this industry is
the networking aspect of it. I love
meeting new people from different
walks of the industry and learning
about what they do. Working in this
type of industry keeps you on your
toes, and I love that!
My favourite part of my job is that I
call the shots. If I want a pink burger,
I will make a pink burger. If I want to
start making desserts, I will start
making desserts. I’m always thinking
of new ideas on the whim, and by
being the sole owner of the
company, I’m able to execute those
concepts on my own time, on my
own terms—without having to ask
for permission or for a second
opinion. If the idea fails, then the
onus is on me, and I’m okay with
that.
Favorite type of Burger from
your roster & why?
This should come as no surprise,
but my favourite burger is The
Barbie Burger. Why? Because it’s
represents who I am in one
burger: pink, fun and full of
flavour! The current Barbie Burger
consists of an all-beef patty,
topped with white cheddar cheese,
sesame mayo, pickled shallots and
crushed pork rinds, in between
two pink waffle buns. Not only is
The Barbie Burger my favourite
burger, but it’s also a fan favourite:
it’s the best-selling burger on our
menu and is often the first one to
sell out at our events!
Tell us, one thing that is
essential to the success of your
business?
One thing that is essential to the
success of my business is that
everything about it is genuine. I’m
genuinely passionate about
burgers and I think that shows
through my work. All the food is
made by me: the patties are all
hand-pressed, the sauces are
made from scratch and the
toppings are specially curated to
match the flavor profile of the
burger. Not only am I passionate
about the food, but I’m also
passionate about the brand. I’m
also responsible for the design,
branding, marketing, social media
and PR for Burger Pawty—I do it
all! I genuinely care about my
brand, and since my hands dip
into every aspect of the company,
there’s more accountability for
what I do and how the company
operates.
Tell us, one thing you wish
someone told you about the
food / catering industry?
One thing that I wish someone
told me about the food/catering
industry is that although you may
care so much about what you do, a
lot of people don’t care for the
effort. A lot of people expect free
work in exchange for exposure
—and I think this carries on in
other industries, as well, especially
if you are “up and coming” or a
small business. I find it offensive
that someone would undervalue
what you do and expect you to
work for free—especially in the
food industry. It’s not like there’s
back stock of food we can bring at
any given time: it needs to be
prepped and cooked; people need
to be hired to do those things, and
that comes at a cost. I feel like
when/if people pay for these
things, they will be more aware of
the quantity they are asking for
and there will be less waste.
What was one of your successes
in 2016?
One of my successes this year was
acquiring Burger Pawty. I love
being the boss of something I’m so
passionate about. I went from only
being responsible for the creative
aspect of the company to also
taking ownership of the food. I
never considered myself a great
cook, but Burger Pawty pushed me
outside of my comfort zone (in a
good way) and now cooking and
coming up with new recipe ideas
are something I genuinely love
doing! Based off the reactions I get
when people take their first bite
into our treats, I’d say I did a damn
good job with the transition.
What do you do when you’re not
in Burger Pawty mode?
Surprising enough, I have an office
job I attend to from 7:30AM-

19
3:00PM. Outside of that, I work on my
creative ventures on both BURGERS
AND BARBIE$ and Burger Pawty. I
also enjoy playing (light) sports,
playing softball from spring to fall.
My friends and I are enrolled in a
dodgeball team this winter! In
addition to this, I love spending time
with my boyfriend, friends and family
and keep it a priority to maintain the
relationships that mean the most to
me.
What tips can you share with our
readers, on how to manage
personal / down time when being
an entrepreneur?
My advice to readers regarding how
to manage personal/down time,
while being an entrepreneur is to
maintain balance in your life. You
can’t or shouldn’t be “on” 100% of the
time – you need some quiet time…
some “me” time. That’s why I like
having an office job during the day.
I’m fortunate that my work day ends
at 3:00PM, because it gives me a lot
of time after work to pursue my
creative projects.
Some days when I’m not in the mood
to do anything, I do just that…
nothing! I don’t force myself to do
things when I don’t want to, because it
always shows. Long story short, I know
it’s cliché, but essentially, do what you
love and love what you do. I cannot
stress this enough.
How is your brand original?
I like to introduce something new for
Burger Pawty from time to time. If you
take a look at the Burger Pawty menu
now versus what it was when it first
started out, you will see that the menu
and concept have not changed too
much. I like sharing the things I love
with others, so each time I have a new
idea for the menu, I don’t hesitate to
introduce it to the public.
I will never compromise the brand for
something trendy. Instead, the items
you will see on my menu are true
reflections of things I genuinely love.
This year, I introduced some sweet
treats on the menu, and they have
been received very well.
What is next for the Burger Pawty?
The Burger Pawty menu will be
revamping in the New Year! But don’t
fret – the burgers you know and love
won’t be going anywhere. I’ll actually be
adding new additions and new services
to the roster, so keep your eyes peeled!
How are you Well Connected?
I believe I’m well connected because I
strive to connect with my audience.
Although Burger Pawty is a niche
market, there are quite a few people
out there that love the message the
brand conveys. I listen to what my
audience likes and deliver on the
goods!
How can people get in contact with
you? I’m pretty much available for
contact on all platforms: text, phone,
insty DM, but email is best! You can
reach me at yay@burgerpawty.com

THE RIGHT

WORDS BY THE WELL CONNECTED
Being a successful entrepreneur can
seem stressful, and at times it is. But, it
really is a rewarding career. You can
be a successful entrepreneur and have
fun doing it.
A successful entrepreneur is someone
who uses their strengths to their best
abilities. They are someone who takes
ownership of their mistakes and takes
action, to see their business succeed.
They are passionate, motivated,
determined and crazy about their
business. All in all, they are truly in love
with what they do and what to share it
with the world.
First thing first, create a compelling
vision. Your goal only thrives behind a
solid vision. You need to see it to
believe it. Where do you see, your
business going in 2017? What does
success look like to you? Ask yourself
these questions and create a vision
behind your goal. Visualizing, helps to
create a clear path for success. This
way, you can see the end result and
stay on track to get there.
For example, think about how good it
will feel to have 10k followers at the
end of the year, when you started off
with only 1,500. Wouldn’t you feel
excited, happy that you achieved or
surpassed your goal? How will you
celebrate that? Make your visions come
alive. Attach a feeling to the goal, that
way you stay excited about it.
2. Your environment sets the tone for
your work. Ask yourself, is your current
work environment allowing you to
maximize on your work? Are you
getting the right energy and time to do
what you’re supposed to do? Your work
environment needs to be a space to
focus and be creative.
If you’re working from home, how do
you manage that home – work life
balance? Set your days up for success
and treat your home office, bedroom,
Living room or basement, like a 9-5.
While in office hours, it is an actual
work day. Lock yourself if your room
and focus on your set tasks. Don’t get
caught up with the television, or family
distractions.
Let those around you know, that
between those hours, you are working.
Be firm and stick to your rules. The
benefits of these rules will have a longterm
and lasting effect on your
business and yourself.
3. Know your strengths and
weaknesses. Know what you are good
at, what you like and enjoy doing. Also,
know what you’re not good at and
don’t particularly like. A piece of
advice, pick services you enjoy doing
and can do well. Don’t try to be and do
it all. You can always outsource
services. Doing what you love, is a form
of success. Being able to plan and
implement the things you love into your
business is simply rewarding. When you
know yourself, and you know your
strength and you plan your content and
work based on your capabilities, your
work becomes easy and enjoyable

4. Know when you need to ask for
help. Asking for help, is not about
weakness. Work S.M.A.R.T not stupid,
It is easier to admit you need the help
and seek it out the first time, than to
waste time and energy doing a task, to
have to re-do it anyway. Ask yourself,
are you capable of doing this task, and
doing it well? What is the best way to
spend your time? With so many moving
parts, delegation, will become your
friend.
There is no I in Team, and though you
may be in business for yourself, you still
need a few people in your corner to
help make your business successful.
It is always a good idea to spend some
time thinking about the ideal team. This
could be a team of 3 or a team or 20. It
really depends on your needs. Maybe
an assistant or an intern, could help off
load some of the work you need to do.
They will also come in handy, when a
crisis arises. Don’t wait until last minute
to round up a team. Have a team in
place at the beginning, it will make the
road to success, a lot easier.
5. Think through your work or client
process. Yes, there is a way you work.
It’s something we don’t think about, it’s
kind of something we just do. But think
about trying to teach someone how you
do what you do. Or explain to your
clients the process in which you work,
What are your steps and how can your
clients achieve success? Map it out!
Map it out for your clients and your
staff. People like to see the end results,
not fluff. If you can show them a clear
plan on how your process works, or
how you can achieve your client’s
goals, it’s easier to maintain a
relationship and build a sense of trust.
This will also help you build confidence
in your brand. There’s power in
knowing what you’re doing. Being able
to articulate your process is
empowering and motivating.
6. What is your unique value
proposition? Are you offering
something unique to your clients?
What’s new about what you do? It
might not always be the what, but the
how, is what really is important. Don’t
forget, your packaging is KEY. The
look, the feel and your services is what
will see your brand.
Get creative about your services. Don’t
be like every other business is your
field doing the exact same things. Spice
things up. Do some research and look
into what other brands are offering
and compare prices, packages etc. and
see how you can add to it. Think about
your unique gifts, knowledge and skill
traits and see what you can offer that
your competitor is not. Your Unique
Value Proposition, is what is unique to
you & different from your competitor. –
Do you have a UVP?
7. Just do it! Action = Results.
You must start somewhere with your
business. Put it out into the universe
and get results. It may be creating an
Instagram page and starting to slowly
promoting the launch of your business.
Maybe it’s developing or editing your
website or working on starting up a
new social platform. Whatever it is,
take responsibility and action with your
brand. As soon as you take a step, no
matter what direction it may be, you'll
quickly gain some clarity - you'll start to
see the all the pieces come together
and know which direction to go.
8. Energy consumption is very
important; however, you need to focus
that energy and use it wisely. As a
creative person, you have tens of
millions of ideas running through your
head at one time. However, just
because you have an idea for this and
an idea for that, doesn't mean you must
do it all at once. Pick and choose the
ideas that best suit your business and
won’t take up an immense amount of
energy.
You must successfully take one idea off
the ground before another. Put all your
energy into the one idea that keeps you
up at night and make that successful.
Store those other ideas away for a
rainy day and use them when
necessary.
9. Share your vision with those you
trust & love. Put it out into the universe
and bring it to existence. Share your
vision with your family & friends. Your
spouse, partner or colleagues. Get
them equally excited about your new
venture. Others who are not
necessarily in the same line of work
you're in can offer powerful insights,
opinions and views you may not have
seen. Ideas, inspiration, validation and
support that you may need. Also, it’s a
great feeling to share your passion with
others and not bottle it all up!
10. Do you have a mentor, someone you
can bounce ideas off of & seek sound
advice from? - Your business will grow
faster if you have someone who is
devoted to your success.
It is always beneficial to have someone
around you that you can trust to keep
you grounded. As creatives, our heads
tend to be up in the clouds and we tend
to get overwhelmed very easily.
Having someone in your corner who
you enjoy and makes you happy, but
also has business sense and your
business in mind, is your greatest asset.
Having someone like that in your
arsenal, is great for the success of your
business and your personal life.

Planning
in 2017
Written by The Well Connected
Planning your year is crucial to the success
of it. Having an idea of your goals, targets &
milestones will help with clarity and drive.
What you envision for 2017 can either come
to fruition or fail, due to poor planning and
execution.
The effects of a successful, happy, fruitful
and joyful 2017 are solely up to you. Bad
decisions or the effects of bad decisions,
tend to hang around like a bad omen for
months. They affect your day-to-day
operations, your personal life and
sometimes your business. It’s not because
you didn’t make a decision,
Planning allows a decision to be made on
your terms. It is within your standards and
capabilities; therefore, you are in charge.
Planning allows you to set a timeframe to
consider several options and achieve your
goals without rushing.
The benefits to planning ahead are as
follows.

19
1. Set The Goals You Want: This allows you to
become the decision maker. Planning allows
you to work within your comfort zone and with
things that relate and mean something to you.
It also allows you to become accountable for
our actions on your terms.
2. Planning is a Great Way to Measure
Success: Planning allows you to decide when
you will hit your desired milestones. You can
also track how far or close you are to achieving
your goals. Here is where you can implement
new tactics or dismiss tactics that are hindering
you from achieving your milestones and, see
your goals in real time.
3. Planning Creates Actions: Planning helps
you turn your goals into results. It’s your ideas
and values that convert into one specific action.
Planning will help you see these things clearly
and will help you get the results you’re looking
for.
4. Planning helps you maximize your
resources: Planning your wants and needs
helps you determine who you need, why you
need them and how you need them. Here you
can determine how much you need to spend on
specific resources, or who you need to hire to
get things done. This also helps you seed out
reliable resources from those not so reliable. It
helps you establish a budget and lets you know
what perimeters to stay within.
Overall, planning proves to be beneficial. Those
2-3 hours you spend now, can and will save you
hours, resources and money later. It’s also a
feel-good feeling, knowing that you planned
your day, goals or business ahead of time.
