~ Our design philosophy ~ 

Our passion for beautiful buildings was awakened at the turn of the millennium when we 

came across an unloved and dilapidated Georgian mansion nestled in the Hertfordshire 

countryside. We immediately recognised the potential of this forgotten architectural 

masterpiece and took it on as our first project. A labour of love, the next two years were spent 

restoring every inch of this period building, preserving and reinstating many of the original 

features. We put a great deal of thought into designing the interior to reflect the heritage 

of the house, and coupled with meticulous attention to detail throughout, we restored it to its 

former beauty. 

At the heart of Oliver Burns is the concept of Thoughtful Luxury. We believe that luxury 

should go beyond beauty and aesthetics to reflect deeper values and meaning in our homes. 

Everything we do is thoughtfully considered, from taking our client’s exacting brief and seeking out 

the finest materials and finishes, to working in an ethical and responsible manner. It is translated 

in our designs, reflected in our thoughtful detailing and the bespoke pieces we create with highly 

skilled artisans.

~ A triumph of 21st century design in London’s Luxury Quarter ~ 

Extending over three floors, this exceptional penthouse is situated in the heart of London’s Luxury 

Quarter on iconic Jermyn Street. Boasting panoramic views of the London skyline, this unique 

4,000 square foot space is the jewel in the crown of this exclusive development comprising just eight 

luxury apartments. 

Beau House is a collaboration with Dukelease who enlisted our super-prime expertise to design 

the penthouse as well as the entrance to this unique development. The residence pays homage 

to the eighteenth-century arbiter of men’s fashion, Beau Brummell, in name and in style, with 

a quintessentially British design woven throughout. 

Drawing inspiration from the tailoring and craftsmanship associated with Jermyn Street and Beau’s 

signature pared back colours, the design scheme marries an understated colour palette with thoughtful 

detailing. Features such as stunning herringbone-laid flooring and handcrafted crystal chandeliers 

reside alongside bespoke cabinetry in eucalyptus pommele and subtle pinstripe walls. 

The pièce de résistance comes in the form of the sweeping white Namibia marble staircase framed 

by a sculptural wall, leading the way to the show-stopping roof terrace. From this spectacular setting, 

a breath-taking panorama of the London skyline awaits, providing the perfect space to enjoy alfresco 

entertaining. The overall effect is timelessly elegant, updated with flourishes of contemporary style.

We worked with London-based 

specialist upholsterer, Aiveen Daly, to design 

an exclusive collection of bespoke handcrafted, 

dining chairs. Exquisite craftsmanship such 

as hand-stitched seaming reflects the level of 

thoughtful detailing throughout the space, 

offering a subtle nod to a long legacy of British 

craftsmanship and tailoring for which Jermyn 

Street is renowned. 

Metallic shades of blue and green, inspired 

by the rich plumage of a peacock, have been 

skilfully woven into an eye-catching chevron 

pattern. The finishing touch is brought with 

a chrome handle on the chair backs, adding 

to the aesthetic and allowing for graceful 

movement when seating guests.

THE PARK CRESCENT 

~ A set of contemporary residences on the doorstep of Regent’s Park ~ 

Situated overlooking Regent’s Park, at one of London's most iconic addresses, is the timelessly elegant 

Park Crescent. A stunning Grade I listed arc of John Nash townhouses, this unique setting provides the 

backdrop for our design of two luxury duplex apartments. 

Upon arrival at the entrance hall, an immediate sense of modern grandeur is established with the 

spectacular chandeliers and polished marble flooring. A discerning selection of hand-picked and 

thoughtfully placed contemporary artwork offers the perfect finishing touch to the space. 

Throughout these exquisite residences, neutral colour palettes form a subtle response to the multitonal 

and organic hues found in Regent’s Park. Shades of sage and pewter are woven throughout 

number 9, whilst hints of mink and champagne set an opulent tone in number 12. 

The sensation of ushering the outdoors in is further enhanced through the elegant full-height 

windows, which overlook the changing landscape of Regent’s Park and flood the living spaces with 

natural light. This synergy with nature is also referenced through organic shapes such as a bespoke 

crystal chandelier, thoughtfully positioned to mimic the curving helix of the spiral staircase. 

This leads gracefully into the study, where Ralph Lauren pinstripe walls and houndstooth accessories 

create an interplay of texture and interest against rich mahogany joinery. At number 12, texture also 

plays a starring role, with luxuriant rugs underfoot, doors adorned in leather and layers of bespoke bed 

linen swathing the bed. 

Located at the heart of the apartment is an inviting outdoor space framed by a spectacular water 

feature. Here the acoustics of running water and verdant foliage provide a soothing respite in the heart 

of one of London’s most prestigious enclaves.

of Park Crescent 9, a bespoke Windfall 

chandelier forms a spectacular and unique 

focal point, accentuating the high ceilings 

and elegant proportions of the Georgian 

windows. 

Comprised of two floating bronze rings 

encircling a cascading column, this stunning 

centrepiece features 1,615 handmade Swarovski 

crystal prisms. A dazzling display, this 

chandelier infuses 21st century glamour into 

this luxury residence.

~ An enchanting family residence nestled in the heart of the countryside ~ 

A rural backdrop forms the stunning setting for this elegant family residence which draws inspiration 

from Georgian architecture and the colours of the Amalfi coast. Artwork is prevalent throughout the 

home, from the carefully curated gallery wall showcasing treasured memories to a framed Hermès 

scarf and playful prints. 

The large reception room has been designed for entertaining with a bespoke chandelier comprising 

1,800 hand-hung crystal droplets forming the stunning centrepiece. Navy blue silk walls meet with 

crisp white panelling to provide an elegant canvas for an array of seating including a silver-grey sofa, 

occasional chairs and antiqued mirror coffee tables. 

The kitchen presents an equally inviting space. A sophisticated backdrop of Zoffany silver is merged 

with soft white Corian surfaces and sparkling crystal chandeliers, reflecting the light streaming in 

through the French doors. 

These timeless design details are perfectly complemented by a chequered Nero Marquina and white 

Carrara marble floor which adorns the entrance hallway. A Bob Dylan watercolour ‘Dallas Hotel Room’ 

adds further visual interest, echoing the deep blue tones weaved throughout the interior. 

A sweeping staircase crafted from wrought iron balustrade is shaped into a graceful curve, leading 

the way to the upper levels of this exquisite home. In the master suite Ralph Lauren pinstripe walls 

serve as the backdrop for a stunning navy upholstered emperor bed layered with swathes of sumptuous 

textures and subtle prints. 

The ensuite acts as a seamless extension of the master bedroom, with high gloss grey eucalyptus veneer 

and chrome inlays mirroring the wardrobes. A classic free standing bath, inspired by a 20th Century 

French fireclay design is positioned beneath a glittering chandelier fusing a vision of modern luxury. 

This home represents family living at its best, offering the perfect marriage of classic style with 

distinctive contemporary touches.

wall and accentuated by a cascade of three 

contemporary lanterns, the sweeping staircase 

brings an unexpected opulence to this rural 

family residence. 

Crafted from decorative wrought iron 

balustrade and a curved handrail fashioned 

from a single piece of stained oak wood, the 

staircase exudes traditional grandeur, whilst 

polished chrome stair rods and a geometric 

runner provide a striking contemporary edge. 

The end result is modern glamour that delivers 

a truly memorable first impression.

~ Traditional grandeur and timeless opulence ~ 

In the heart of one of the world’s most desirable cities, situated opposite the Ritz London, lies an 

illustrious building, once home to Britain’s first and longest serving prime minister, Sir Robert Walpole. 

Out of this Georgian home, we have carved five extraordinary state apartments, each of them unique in 

personality, but in its own way a living testament to the prevailing elegance and beauty of the building. 

All five apartments have been designed to flow seamlessly from room to room, each thoughtfully 

considered to ensure the first impression is unforgettable. A particularly spectacular entrance hall 

awaits at Number Three where two handcrafted Terzani chandeliers comprised of cascading lengths of 

silver chain set the tone. Continuing into the reception room, champagne draperies and wallpaper with 

metallic details extend the sense of opulence that is woven throughout the entirety of this glamorous 

apartment. 

The grand height of Number Four offered an inspiring canvas to work with. By uncovering the ceiling, 

we were able to create a striking architectural loft-style feature. This enhanced the feeling of space, 

whilst showcasing the living room chandeliers to dramatic effect, bringing a flourish of Manhattan 

style to the heart of London. 

The crowning glory of this exquisite collection of apartments is undoubtedly the magnificent duplex 

penthouse. Representing the very best in open-plan living, the penthouse has been expertly designed 

to flow seamlessly from the inside out. This is illustrated to spectacular effect by specially designed 

glass doors which fully retract, leading the way to the stunning roof terrace where panoramic views 

of London’s skyline await. This is beautifully complemented by a carefully chosen scheme of neutral 

colours and reflective finishes to showcase the mesmerising chiaroscuro at play. 

In this marriage of period charm with wrap-around comfort, the apartments at Walpole Mayfair 

embody the values of Georgian elegance, translated to the vernacular of our own times and to the 

exacting requirements of the 21st century living.

We wanted to create an exquisite 

bathroom that would deliver not only a strong 

statement but also a timeless opulence to this 

vast space. 

Travelling around Italian quarries, our design 

team sought out the most beautiful marbles, 

hand-picking the cuts of stunning Calacatta 

‘in quarry’ to ensure an uninterrupted flow 

of lines and symmetry. It was then crafted by 

British artisans, who used advanced cutting 

techniques to book-match the marble to 

perfection, helping to produce this striking 

state-of-the-art bathroom.

~ Cool modern design with a flourish of glamour ~ 

A bold, contemporary design with a masculine edge was the concept for this two-bedroom pied-à-terre 

in Regent’s Park - albeit one softened by feminine accents. 

In this apartment, a cool, neutral palette serves as the perfect foil for glamorous detail with lighting key 

throughout. In the entrance hall, a gold gilt coffered ceiling and oversized chandelier delivers an immediate 

sense of grandeur, whilst in the living area, a more contemporary chandelier of three inter-locking crystal 

rings creates a striking focal point, taking prominence above a soft grey leather sofa. 

Lacquered wood cabinetry at either end of the room unifies the living space, which flows seamlessly 

into the airy open-plan kitchen. Here, we designed a relaxed dining area with a central island of Carrara 

marble that extends to form an integrated dining table with high stools – perfect for informal entertaining. 

In a dynamic play of texture, sleek, highly polished surfaces are contrasted with tactile, luxurious fabrics 

such as a Fendi rug and voluminous sheers to add warmth and depth. 

The guest bedroom combines contemporary design with hints of old-fashioned femininity, enhanced by 

the discreet flock wallpaper, Swarovski crystals and highlights of old rose. A more masculine feel returns 

in the master bedroom, with dark, silvery hues and cool geometric designs. Fendi bedside tables clad 

in leather add a touch of organic opulence - in keeping with a home where luxury resides between the 

sleek and the sensuous.

Handmade in Italy, an oversized chandelier adorned with rows of gold chains 

and crystal pendants, sets a bold opulent tone for the rest of the apartment.

We wanted to bring a warm glow 

and glamorous feel to the neutral colour 

palette, choosing the richness of metallic 

gold for the entrance hall ceiling and window 

arches in the living area. 

Using methods from ancient Egyptian times, 

artisans hand applied fine fragile layers of gold 

leaf, imparting a golden sheen and reflecting 

shimmering light, creating a feeling of 

welcoming warmth.

~ Traditional grandeur & timeless opulence ~ 

True to our beginnings, we worked closely with English Heritage to retain the remaining original 

architectural features within this elegant 18th century townhouse. Together we reinstated period 

details such as a graceful archway, fireplaces and delicate gilding so beloved of the Georgian period. 

Sourcing pieces of exceptional quality, we juxtaposed a statement Art Nouveau Lalique console with 

antique mirrors against the stunning background palette of black, beige and gold in the perfectly 

proportioned entrance hall. Beautiful fabrics such as the Kediri silk encasing the Chesterfield sofas 

in the drawing room continue the traditional and contemporary theme. A subtle, harmonious colour 

scheme provides visual continuity throughout. 

In the kitchen we introduced a sleek interplay of textures; high gloss, marble and wood, combined with 

state-of-the-art appliances and illuminated by a striking chandelier. 

We designed the three bedroom suites to each have a distinctive character. From the regal master 

bedroom, with its four-poster bed and Louis XVI-style bedside tables, to the feminine sophistication 

of the second bedroom with lacquered Birds-Eye maple wardrobes, and the clean lines of the third 

suite. Everything is created to marry comfort and elegance. 

The distinctive character of the design within remains true to the building’s quintessential British 

heritage, updated to meet the requirements of 21st century living.

century furniture maker, George Smith, radiates classic luxury in 

this distinctive bedroom. 

The addition of Louis XVI-style bedside tables in black lacquer adds 

to the traditional and grand feel of this regal master bedroom.

the master bedroom and bathroom, yet smart technology allows the glass 

to be made opaque instantly if privacy requires. 

The bespoke vanity unit with Frivole faucets marries white porcelain with 

a handcrafted metal to produce a stunning juxtaposition of materials.

~ A journey of discovery ~ 

The optimum time for a client to commission our services is at the very early stages of their project. 

Whether it involves searching for the perfect home or investment property, renovating an existing 

house or building a new one, we can provide consultancy throughout the process. We offer a full 

turnkey service and work internationally, so wherever our client's property is located or new home 

is desired, we are able to assist from the inception of their project. 

DEFINE 

From the outset, we work collaboratively with our clients to gain a deep understanding of their wants 

and needs in order to translate these into a home that surpasses all expectations. We take great care to 

obtain a detailed brief on the required design direction, understanding our client's lifestyle and how 

the space is to be used. 

DESIGN 

From here, we progress to first concept designs, undertake the space planning and prepare initial 

drawings and sketches. Once we have our client’s approval on the overall look and feel, we work 

up conceptual ideas into a final scheme. These include perspective sketches, elevations and plans 

indicating proposed finishes, lighting concepts and furniture layout for client approval. Key elements 

such as mechanical and electrical details are discussed at length with our specialist consultants, 

ensuring all expectations, however challenging, are met. 

DELIVER 

On approval, we assemble all the elements for the scheme ready for tender and prepare a detailed 

timeline and schedule. We personally oversee the works and liaise with all the contractors to make 

sure the design is flawlessly delivered to specification. We ensure every last detail is in place before we 

hand our client the keys to their home.
