FULLY LICENSED & BONDED TOUR OPERATOR, SAFE TRAVEL 

Bridge Overseas holds its own ATOL license (T7028) and has done for over ten years. In 

addition we are bonded by the Travel Trust Association (TTA). This means that your money 

paid to us is held in a trust account until your holiday has passed. This ensures that you are 

completely safe from supplier failure in the UK. Payment Protection is also offered for a fee of 

just £5 per person per booking and will allow you to move monies paid for a particular holiday 

on to another with out penalty. This protection enables you to book our holidays well ahead 

of time, especially useful to single travelers where single or low supplement room prices 

are limited and generally book first and quickly. If you are then unable to make the holiday 

for any reason just tell us as soon as you can or at least seven days before. Our general 

advice is to speak to us as soon as you can as more of our holidays are selling out earlier. 

SINGLE 

Whether you are a single player or traveler we do our very best to welcome & accommodate 

you. Each holiday has a minimum of a bridge director and bridge playing host so we reduce the 

chances of half tables and of course we know the numbers of single players before the holiday 

takes place and will make arrangements accordingly. Hotels in general will limit the numbers of 

bedrooms available for sole use and can charge a hefty supplement. We do try where possible 

to reduce this cost and encourage singles to book early to avoid disappointment. 

GROUPS 

You can book any of the published dates available in this brochure subject to availability or if 

you and some friends or club want to choose a particular hotel or date in the UK or Abroad we 

will happily assist with this. In general we can offer discounts for ten plus people booking and 

provide free hosts and bridge directors for groups of over twenty. 

FLIGHTS 

We can book your flights for you through our own flight booking systems, saving you time 

and also being able to provide you flight tickets and boarding cards. This service is normally a 

little more expensive than buying your own tickets on line but can save you some frustrations 

associated with purchasing online. If you would prefer to do this yourselves but need a little help, 

we will be more than happy to point you in the right direction, just call us on the numbers above. 

TRANSFERS 

We include private group airport transfers on our overseas holidays, that aim to have you 

collected from the airport and on the way directly to your hotel within 25 minutes of arrival. We 

will continue to include this cost in our advertised prices, but will need to start charging a small 

supplement for customers that do not book to arrive on the advertised arrival and departure 

dates. We will of course continue to pair up transfers where possible for those booking 7 nights 

on a 14 night holiday.

Situated overlooking a picturesque, black, sandy beach just a short stroll from Puerto de 

Santiago. It has a spectacular setting against the backdrop of the famous cliffs of Los Gigantes 

with a superb view of the island of La Gomera. The hotel benefits from a quiet and relaxing 

location, only 50 meters from the beach, yet within easy reach of the local amenities. Shops, 

cafes and restaurants are situated just outside the hotel. Local bus services are excellent and 

very reasonable, providing easy access to Los Cristianos and Las Americas.

Edwards Rants 

It is true that many companies fear change, but not Bridge Overseas. We anticipate the 

future to be full of exciting opportunities to continue our considerable growth of the past 

twenty three years. Although we have lost some of our most popular and long standing 

venues recently due to the current world situation, the latest of which being Turkey, our 

bookings for overseas bridge holidays have recently been at an all time record. We 

believe that some of this is due to Brexit and also the naturally cantankerous nature of 

bridge players in general. In addition, the combination of our old favourite venues and 

some great value new destinations seems to have done the trick. 

The fall in the value of the pound against the euro is annoying although I believe that 

the pound will substantially recover. However we are confident that the success of 

our other non bridge operations has put our company in a strong enough financial 

position to enable us to keep our overseas holidays at very competitive levels for the 

foreseeable future. 

Our UK bridge breaks have also gone from strength to strength as we continue to 

upgrade and widen the range of venues offered. It is however surprising that some of 

our longest running venues still remain at the top of the list despite the many fine new 

hotels we have added to our programme. 

The Holiday Inn Ironbridge/Telford, Croyde Bay Hotel and Resort and Bournemouth 

have been running several times a year for over seventeen years and are still as 

popular as ever. 

We are also now adding Duplicate Whist holidays to our programme. I have long 

believed that whist is the best first step to Bridge and is also a good game in its own 

right. I have a very exciting new innovation which we will introduce into our whist 

programme to make it more of a step to bridge for those interested. 

The big advantage of whist is that it can be taught very much more quickly than bridge 

and diving into the mysteries of bidding and card play together is often one step too far 

for many learners. 

Once one has a reasonable feel for card play through whist it is then easier to take on 

board the vagaries of bidding which bridge demands. 

There are also a lot of bridge players who in advancing years find bidding too demanding 

and who would enjoy the less stressful game of whist. 

That is enough new ideas so please continue to enjoy our traditional bridge holidays 

with the usual mixture of love and laughter.
