The Recked Industries Hole Shot
Glory and Big Whip Competition was
held at Zone 7 in Cape Town. For a
first time event it went really well well
with some decent support form the
local motorsport enthusiasts as well
as a few athletes who enjoyed the
event concept and cannot wait for
the next madness in 2017.
Hole Shot is basically like a MX
dirt bike drag race !! Two riders tear
down a straight, around some tyres
and back across the finish line. It’s a
knock out series with the top riders
battling it out for Prize money. Winner
takes all which means high intensity
action which gets you pretty ‘Revved’
up as the intensity increases as the
riders get closer to the final rounds.
The Big Whip competition takes
place with the guys hitting a metal
ramp and landing on a dirt landing.
The gap between is around 22m of
pretty much nothing. To the general
rider, this is terrifying. The guys hit a
ramp and whip their bike out as far as
they can before trying to get it back
in line for the landing or face eating
dirt. These guys get it pretty much
backwards. The points are judged by
style as well as how huge the whip is.
Crowd support plays a huge part
as well when it comes to deciding
who wins.
The competition was dominated by
the 3 big guns on the day. Hole Shot
Glory went to Tristan Purdon in 1st,
Caleb Tennant in 2nd and Seth Van
Den Abeele in 3rd.
The Big Whip honours went to Caleb
Tennant in 1st, Seth Van Den Abeele in
2nd and Tristan Purdon in 3rd.
