Throughout history the wedding “cake” has
been presented in many different forms. Today’s
wedding cake has grown out of several different
ethnic traditions. From the Ancient Romans who
broke bread over the bride’s head to bring good
fortune to the couple to Medieval England where
sweet rolls were stacked as high as possible for
the bride and groom to kiss over to guarantee a
prosperous life the cake has symbolized a union
of two people whose lives become one. Today,
that history is still cherished as the cake has
become a symbol of tradition and family in every
celebration.
