Napa Valley was made for road<br />
tripping and enjoying the scenery<br />
from the luxury of the <strong>2017</strong><br />
Lincoln Continental made it that<br />
much more memorable. Napa was<br />
picturesque, peaceful and pastoral,<br />
with an interesting history and<br />
with more than 400 wineries,<br />
there is enough great wine to<br />
keep you on the road for a year!<br />
We spent most of our time at<br />
the famous Chateau Montelena,<br />
family owned Frank Family<br />
Vineyards, and at the new kid on<br />
the wine block, Davis Estate Winery.<br />
Lucky for us, our Lincoln driver<br />
was from Napa and shared with<br />
us interesting tidbits and amusing<br />
tales of changes in this region over<br />
the last 25 years. Did you know<br />
that in 2000, a 6-liter bottle of<br />
1992 Screaming Eagle Cabernet<br />
Sauvignon sold for a whopping<br />
$500,000 at auction? It remains the<br />
most expensive bottle of Napa Valley<br />
wine ever sold. The popular town<br />
of Yountville, which we stopped at<br />
for lunch and snacks, was named<br />
after George Yount, who planted<br />
the first grapes in Napa in 1839.<br />

Our favorite stop was at Frank<br />
Family Vineyards. The tasting<br />
room was lively and owner Leslie<br />
Frank was very hospitable, sharing<br />
the passion of the Frank family.<br />

Zinfandel and 2014 Lewis Vineyard<br />
