purgatory. I am not attempting to defame any
person or group. I am only attempting to
clarify this verse with reference to being
absent from and present with. Now, with
regard to this doctrine of purgatory, my
understanding of it is that purgatory is an
intermediate place between earth and heaven.
If a person is not quite good enough
(whatever "good enough" is) to go directly
from earth to heaven, he goes to this
intermediate state. His relatives and friends
and the church must then pray him out of
purgatory and into heaven.
This is a doctrine invented by men. I don't
say that to put down anybody, but we have a
choice either to believe man or to believe what
the Word of God says. No one can be prayed
out of purgatory because, according to the
Bible, there is no such place. If one is teaching
something, then there should be a basis for
what is being taught, a basis which is
verifiable by some higher authority—which in
