n COMMUNITY AND BUSINESS
ENGAGEMENT
Partnerships
All Prince William County Public Schools have
at least one business or community partner with
more than 1,000 Divisionwide. Most schools
have many formal partnership agreements with
businesses that strengthen and enhance the quality
of education provided to students. School-tobusiness
partnerships improve academic achievement,
help to develop students’ work readiness
skills, provide a way for businesses to fulfill their
community outreach goals, and market “Best
Practice” partnerships to the community.
SPARK provides funding for the School Division’s
online web presence, “SchoolMessenger,”
Innovative Grants, and programs identified by
businesses to support schools. SPARK also supports
more than 10 scholarship funds; plays a
vital role in school robotics, the Virginia Student
Training and Refurbishment (VA STAR) program,
and Smart Beginnings, an initiative that creates
community commitment to the school readiness
of young children; and provides clothing and gifts
to families in need through the Holiday Helpers
