BUILDING UPDATE Because of the $37,000 shorall of the 2016 Operaons and Ministry Fund, the Appeal Advisory Team (with the approval of the Execuve Team) has put our building appeal on hold. In “Building On A Strong Foundaon,” we want to make sure we strengthen that foundaon and tend to the Operaons and Ministry Fund and this shorall before we have an appeal to expand our facili- es. Our plan is to connue moving forward with the building appeal in the near future. In the mean- me, the Building Commiee connues to meet with our architects, Benz/Thompson/Rietow, to develop construcon plans and costs. LENT BEGINS MARCH 1 Our Lenten journey at Word of Peace this year focuses on discipleship. Beginning Ash Wednesday (March 1) and connuing in our Sunday/Monday worship during Lent, our theme is “Building Your Life in Christ.” We’ll explore the faith foongs of repentance, trust, jusce, obedience, and generosity. Celebrang the 500 th Anniversary of the Reformaon, our Wednesday evening Lenten worship services will focus on Marn Luther’s Small Catechism and the topics of the Ten Commandments, the Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, Bapsm, and Holy Communion. And, as always, we will have our Wednesday evening soup suppers throughout Lent. Come join in this Lenten journey of discipleship as we move toward the cross of Good Friday. A Fun and Rewarding Opportunity for All Ages! The Holy Week Walk is an experienal worship service for people of all ages to experience the last week of Jesus’ life. People travel to several staons where they hear and witness the Holy Week story. This worship service requires many parcipants to make the week come to life! We are looking for kids, youth, and adults of all ages to parcipate as an actor or marketplace person, help in the kitchen, help with set-up and take-down of sets, or work behind-the-scenes. Rehearsals begin mid-March and the Holy Week Walk will take place on Friday, April 14 at 10 AM, Noon, and 2:00 PM. Come bless people and be a part of this fun event! Postage Stamp Drive Word of Peace is sending Minister Tyler Strom, Dr. Glenn and Caren Nemec, Paige Messenbrink, Clark Messenbrink, and Kirsn Carlson on the Mission Jamaica trip, February 25 - March 4. The team will join members from Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo and five other congregaons from Minnesota and Tennessee. They will run six medical clinics and construct a home for a local family. You can support their mission with prayer, money, or any of the following items: Large suitcases with wheels Hammers Handsaws Wood chisels Tape measures Squares Levels (2' and 4') Construcon aprons Construcon pencils Safety glasses & work gloves Drill bits 7-1/4” circular saw blades Reciprocal saw blades Pry bars, nail pulling bars Ulity knives Paint brushes, rollers, & trays Small plasc containers (cool whip size) Storage containers with lids that would fit in a regular sized suitcase Tapcon (brand) fasteners Drill bits 5/32” & 3/16” (for cement) Wood spade bits Metal bits (assorted sizes) Non-latex (nitrile) gloves in all sizes Snack-size Ziploc bags ACE wraps Band-Aids & dressings Medical tape & gauze Nebulizers and tubing/masks CPAP units and tubing/masks Canes (especially collapsible) Travel-sized shampoo, condioner, loon, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste Donaons should be dropped off at the church office before February 12. Please indicate “Mission Jamaica.” Thank you! 5 CROSS CORNER CROSS Christmas Toy Shop Results (including Tree of Warmth donaons): Each year Word of Peace volunteers send out over 4,000 cards to people who are ill, hurt, have cancer, are grieving, are struggling, are in the military, and are celebrang milestones. This requires a lot of postage and we are asking for your kind donaons of stamps or financial contribuons to support this ministry. From Sunday, February 26 through Monday, March 6 there will be a table in the Gathering Area for your donaons of stamps and/or money. We appreciate your generosity!
