PHYSICIAN PEER REVIEW
For more than a decade, we have worked closely with our clients on peer review matters that range from the
clear-cut to the most complex. We have reviewed thousands of cases across all specialties and subspecialties.
We’ve applied our extensive experience to fine-tune strategies that support the unique peer review needs of
our clients.
We feel strongly that peer review should not be a mechanical process that can leave leaders scratching
their heads as to the benefit of the outcome. Instead, we take a strategic, consultative, custom approach,
intelligently applying our expertise to help you make the right decisions and deliver high integrity, defensible
peer review within financial constraints.
Our team of true peers consists of highly reputable, carefully selected physicians spanning all specialties and
subspecialties. We match each physician’s specific experience and expertise to the nuances of each review.
We then apply established, evidence-based, and widely accepted criteria to help identify improvement
opportunities while mitigating risk.
“Our engagement spanned several months and I found NorthGauge focused and able to identify
critical aspects of an issue. They didn’t ‘make work’ or try to do anything they felt we didn’t need.
Jon’s experience on the ‘inside’ of a healthcare organization was invaluable. Jon and his expert team
handled themselves extremely well and are true professionals”
CLINICAL PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT
It might seem strange to hear from a consulting firm that the patient is at the center of all we do. But we’re
not most consulting firms. We never forget that the better your performance, the more favorable the impact on
the lives of your patients, which could be any one of us, our friends or family members. Whether amidst
a crisis or a proactive campaign to improve outcomes, we get to the heart of the issues quickly, and offer
practical solutions that support patient safety and clinical excellence.
COMPLIANCE
Much of what we do either directly or indirectly identifies and mitigates compliance risk. Applying our peer
review services, coding audit and advisory resources, and operational consulting expertise, we help our clients
make sure they don’t breach regulatory or accreditation standards. Whether evaluating medical necessity,
appropriateness of documentation, adherence to national or local coverage determinations, or physician
contracts, NorthGauge is a vital compliance resource.
“I had a complex case with very esoteric issues involving disciplinary action for my client by the
Texas medical board. They had a year to prepare their case and I had ten days. One call to Jon
was all it took. Jon and his team worked very quickly and very efficiently to produce a very well
put-together report that helped to win our case. I especially liked that he had a secure server so
that we could upload various medical data for review. NorthGauge was easy to work with and
very professional and I would highly recommend them.”
