MOTO X VOLUME 1 NUMBER 2

Amongst the Juniors, one normally expects
most excitement from the 200cc
High School Class, but on this occasion it
came from the 100cc riders, Russel
Campbell (Suzuki) and Robert Lamey
(Suzuki). These two whizz kids fought
out a duel that had the crowd on their
feet from start to finish, with each of
them winning a heat with the other
second.
The High School riders produced racing
of their normal high standard, with
Greg Wilson (Honda) Darryll Werner
(Yamaha) and Wayne Jones (Honda) in
particularly good form. Deon du Plessis
(Honda) who won the first heat, unfortunately
retired in the second due to
mechanical trouble. Other riders to impress
were Robert Campbell (Suzuki),
Wayne Attwell (Suzuki) and Tony
Riddell (Yamaha).
In a very small field, Robbie Wicks
(K.T.M.) walked away with the 500cc
MX class, with Chris Brand (Husqvarna)
second and Clive Strugnell (Suzuki) third.
The innovation of the East Rand
Motorcycle Club in providing competitors
with a snack lunch and cold drinks, the
cost of which was included in the entry
fee, was well received by the riders.
