Vangogh FPA is an unraced son of the proven race horse OKBA, who
won or placed in 24 of 25 races in Tunisia and Oman. There were only
thirty-seven offspring in the U.S. sired by OKBA before he passed.
Twenty-five of those offspring raced at the track, and grossed nearly
$730,000 in lifetime earnings. His first foals will arrive in 2017.
Okba get have proven hardy not only at the track, but in endurance as
well. Perhaps the most famous is TEVIS WINNER French Open, who
was a stakes-placed winner of over $78,000 before he began his endurance
career. Another Okba son, Count Okba, has an astounding 2,230
endurance miles in addition to his $46,545 from 66 starts on the track.
French Quarter, also by Okba, raced 39 times and then accumulated
1,250 endurance miles, 24/27 completions, 7 best condition awards, 23
top ten awards, and 8 first place awards.
Vangogh FPA’s dam, Vague De Gemme, produced and SAND VICTOR
(3/24(6-4-4)3-5, $107,998, 1st Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al Nahyan Cup
S. at Oak Tree at Pleasanton, etc.) and LUCKY SAND (2/10(3-0-3)1-1 in
U.S., 1st Texas Futurity, etc.; exported).
Virgule Al Maury sadly passed away in 2015, but frozen semen is still available to this valuable stallion.
He is the only French-bred stallion to lead the U.S. sire list, and he has done so twice. He is easily recognized
as the most influential French sire in the history of modern U.S. Arabian racing. In addition, he was
the leading broodmare sire by earnings in 2016 and is the broodmare sire of Darley Horse of the Year
PADDYS DAY ($317,075, winner of the Triple Jewel bonus in 2015 and 2016).
The solidly built chestnut was a son of the noted French sire Kesberoy and out of the mare Valse Du
Cassou, whose second dam is the important French foundation mare Nevada II.
Virgule Al Maury's best race horse to date has been MORE ADORAABLE ($228,904, Darley Champion
twice), and he has also sired the major stakes winners NO SHOW JONES ($150,855), VIRAMIKA
($108,561), and BUDDY OF MINE ($103,133). He is also the sire of the incredible ANVIRLIK, who made
91 starts over 8 years. She won 14 races (5 stakes) and finished in the top 3 60% of the time. Anvirlik
retired sound as the longest running female with the most starts of any mare in the U.S.
To further prove his ability to produce sound horses, Virgule Al Maury is also siring exceptional endurance
horses including race winner Take A Break (2013 Tevis Cup, 14 rides, 14 completions and 2 Best
Conditioned), race winner AF Big Bucks (2,775 endurance miles, with 52 completions out of 56 races and
9 Best Conditioned over 12 years), and stakes-placed winner Sir Smith (1,410 endurance miles with 22
completions out of 27 rides and 7 Best Conditioned).
