KILN FORMING with Kirstie Rea CLASS DETAILS A six-day masterclass focusing on idea development and realisation in glass. Each day will be charged with thought-provoking exercises and projects designed to challenge and change the way ideas are explored for the development of new work conceptually, and technically. A wide range of Bullseye materials and kiln forming processes will be covered. The workshop is geared to assist 10 participants to develop ideas from paper and words into glass. The technical content of Kirstie’s folded fabric forms will be covered in formal presentations. Please note, these works can take up to three weeks to realise, so there will be insufficient time in a workshop situation for Kirstie to demonstrate these practically. Dates: 3 to 8 April 2017 Time: 9am to 4pm Cost: $1500 Skill level: Intermediate – Advanced * Kirstie Rea: the land – a 20 year survey, will be open from May 13 to August 20, 2017 at <strong>Canberra</strong> Museum and Gallery. The exhibition documents her achievements over the past two decades as one of Australia’s leading contemporary glass artists. Rea’s distinctive imagery has its genesis in rural experience, often exploring the growing separation between increasingly urbanised lives and her perception of the natural environment. INSTRUCTOR Kirstie Rea has been an ongoing advocate for the development and success of Australian glass within the international arena. As the organiser of the Latitudes workshops and touring exhibition; her relationship with the Bullseye Glass Company and a board member of the Glass Art Society, she has provided greater scope and opportunities for many talented Australians to exhibit and work overseas. Rea has achieved her own artistic success with her kiln formed glass wall panels and sculptures. Her recent works epitomise the elements of Australian contemporary glass that has drawn attention from around the world – the seductive surfaces created by cold working, and the connection with the Australian natural landscape, in its purist and most simple form.
