The Deliverance of Jagäi and Mädhäi
“Listen, both of you,” The Lord continued. “I have indeed
saved you from all your sinful reactions. If you do not sin again,
then I will destroy all your sinful reactions from millions of
births. This is My responsibility. I will eat offerings in your
mouths and incarnate through your bodies.”
While hearing these words from the Lord, both Jagäi and
Mädhäi fell unconscious onto the ground in ecstasy. Their illusions
thus removed, they floated in an ocean of happiness.
The all-knowing Lord instructed His followers: “Take these two
brothers to My house. Tonight we will perform kértana with
them. I will reward these two with what even Lord Brahmä rarely
attains. I will transform them into the foremost of persons in
this world. The same people who took bath in the Ganges after
touching these brothers will now say that they are as good as the
Ganges. Nityänanda’s promise never goes in vain. Know that
this is indeed the desire of Nityänanda Prabhu.”
The Vaiñëavas carefully escorted Jagäi and Mädhäi to the
house of the Lord. When all the associates and relatives of the
Lord came inside, they closed the door, allowing no outsiders
to enter. Mahäprabhu Viçvambhara sat in the middle and Nityänanda
Prabhu sat to His right, while Gadädhara Paëòita sat to His
left. Advaita Äcärya, the greatest recipient of the Lord’s mercy,
sat in front of the Lord. All the Vaiñëavas, headed by Pundarika
Vidyänidhi 12 , Garuòa, Ramäi 13 , Çréväsa, and Gaìgädäsa sat
surrounding Their Lordships. Also present were Vakreçvara
12 Pundarika Vidyänidhi was the spiritual master of Gadädhara
Paëòita, a beloved associate of Lord Caitanya. In his previous incarnation,
he was King Våñabhänu of Vraja, Çrématé Rädhäräëé’s father.
He was a wealthy landowner of Cakrasala in the district of Caööagräma,
which is now in Bangladesh. Later he moved to Navadvépa. Çré Gauräìga
addressed him as “father.” Due to his loving qualities, the Lord
awarded him the title “Premanidhi.”
13 Ramäi Paëòita was the youngest brother of Çréväsa Paëòita.
In his previous incarnation, he was the great sage, Parvata Muni. Being
a constant companion of Çréväsa, he relished the love of Çré Gauräìga.
