What is a<br />

Gyrocopter<br />

• Gyrocopter looks like a small helicopter but the main<br />

difference is there is no engine turning the main rotor.<br />

The rotor simply self-propel<br />

• (which we call “auto-rotate”) due to the way that the air<br />

flows through them.<br />

• It also does not have a tail rotor.<br />

• As the engine is not connected to the rotors, this<br />

means that a Gyrocopter is not seriously affected if the<br />

engine should stop in flight. This, together with a very<br />

short landing roll (we can land in a very small open<br />

space, about the size of a putting green), means that a<br />

Gyrocopter is one of the safest methods of flying.<br />

• Today, Gyrocopters are one or two-seat airplanes<br />

whose maximum take-off weight does not exceed<br />

450kgs (560 kgs EASA). Modern Gyrocopters offer<br />

superb performance, comfort and above all have a<br />

safety record second to none in aviation<br />

• The next convenient difference to a helicopter is the<br />

price. It runs on unleaded petrol.<br />

• The running cost is 80 to 100 Euros an hour whilst that<br />

of a small helicopter will be in the region of 10 to 15<br />

times more.

ISO9001 procedures. The industrialization process now in place, allows<br />

a high level of precision and repetitive actions.<br />

• The newly designed Instrument panel has been created to correlate<br />

Why the Xenon Gyro is the safest and best ultralight aircraft?<br />

The Cabin of the Xenon is an engineering work of art - is made of<br />

composite materials in monocoque technology which means that it is<br />

structurally built in one piece of material, just like Formula 1 cars.<br />

What is a monocoque?<br />

The Cabin is the main component of the machine. All the other<br />

components are mounted around the cabin. The main task of the cabin<br />

is to provide an enormously strong shell shape where by all other parts<br />

are fixed. This provides a huge safety for pilot in the event of an accident<br />

because the cabin is capable of withstanding the load many


Very important parts of the cabin structure are the “the ribs” as they have<br />

created an interesting safety feature. Raphael Celier is very keen observer,<br />

who likes to include features from nature in his design constructions. Another<br />

common practice of modern engineering is a technology we all know named<br />

“honey comb”. This is reproduced in industry which is extremely sturdy. Again<br />

this is found in our construction of the Xenon. Similarly, a blade of grass or<br />

spider thread are carefully studied by scientists who try to imitate their strength<br />

and properties, and apply them to modern designs and technologies.<br />

Raphael is also a fan of cinema and if you go back a few years we all<br />

admired the Jurasic Park and its computer-animated giant dinosaurs, when<br />

we experienced adventure with the heroes of the film, Raphael observed<br />

how the huge animals as they could move quickly. The result of these<br />

observations and thoughts is ... Xenon cabin mimic extremely durable the<br />

ribs the Tyranozaurus Rex.<br />

Aerospace Co-operants<br />

Statement by Celier Aviation regarding German certification of<br />

the Xenon 4 Gyroplane.<br />

All gyroplanes in Europe do not fall under the responsibility of<br />

the EASA for Airworthiness purposes but they fall under the<br />

direct governance of a country’s (member states) Civil Aviation<br />

Authority.<br />

Celier Aviation has opted to benchmark its certification process<br />

via the German Civil Aviation Authorities through the powers<br />

vested in the Deutscher Aero Club E.V.<br />

Other countries in Europe gladly accept the German standards<br />

and adopt them as their own.<br />

All certification process for the Xenon 4 has been processed<br />

through our company Celier Aviation Germany GmbH.<br />

Gyroplanes in Europe are considered to be Annex II Aircraft and<br />

for this they fly legally under what is known as a “Permit to Fly”.<br />
