I am delighted to welcome you to <strong>Open</strong> <strong>Studios</strong> Ayrshire <strong>2017</strong>,<br />
running from Friday 21st through to Monday 24th April, with so many<br />
wonderful events and demonstrations scheduled, that we needed a 4<br />
day weekend just to squeeze them all in!<br />
As always, our artists come from a wide range of disciplines including<br />
sculpture, painting, glasswork, textiles, furniture making, ceramics,<br />
printmaking, jewellery design and photography. This year, we have<br />
created 4 wonderful routes through stunning Ayrshire scenery, with<br />
talented artists sharing their sources of inspiration and creativity,<br />
demonstrating their techniques and displaying their latest work for<br />
you to enjoy - hopefully taking some home with you at the end of the<br />
day.<br />
Our activities start this March with our Launch events, Annual<br />
Showcase Exhibition and a variety of workshops and demonstrations<br />
by our artists. Full details of all of these, which we would love to see<br />
you at, can be found on the OSA Workshop & Demo’s page and our<br />
website.<br />
As a not for profit organisation, we would simply be unable to<br />
bring you these events without the support and generosity of our<br />
supporters, in particular East Ayrshire Council and South Ayrshire<br />
Council and all the beautiful venues who are hosting our artists. From<br />
April, we will also be launching our new Friends of <strong>Open</strong> <strong>Studios</strong><br />
Ayrshire initiative, making it easier than ever for you to show your<br />
support for our upcoming events while getting some fantastic OSA<br />
benefits in return.<br />
Our artists are already preparing to meet you, with new work being<br />
created, demonstrations being planned and studios being tidied! So<br />
please invite your friends, spread the word on social media and start<br />
planning your weekend. We all look forward to meeting you at what<br />
is promising to be the best <strong>Open</strong> <strong>Studios</strong> event we have ever held!<br />

I enjoy capturing the changing moods of landscapes and<br />
seascapes gaining inspiration from remote wilderness<br />
places, fishing villages and nature. I love finding a derelict<br />
croft, old boat, stream reflection or glimpse a Hebridean<br />
island through the mist. Inspired by nature, landscape and<br />
people living in those harsh environments.
