Restart the Service<br />
Step 1.<br />
Click the Windows "Start" menu, type "compmgmt.msc" in the "Start Search" field and<br />
press "Enter," if using Windows Vista. Click "Start" > "Run," type "compmgmt.msc" and<br />
press "Enter," if using Windows XP.<br />

Step 2.<br />
Expand "<strong>Services</strong> and Applications" from the console tree on the left pane. A list of su<br />
b-categories displays, including "<strong>Services</strong>," "WMI Control" and "Indexing Service."<br />

Step 3.<br />
Double-click "<strong>Services</strong>" and locate the "<strong>McAfee</strong> <strong>Framework</strong> Service" from the list<br />
of services on the right pane.<br />

Step 4.<br />
Right-click the "<strong>McAfee</strong> <strong>Framework</strong> Service" and choose "Start" from the pop-up<br />
menu options. Note: If the status is "Started," choose "S<strong>to</strong>p" from the pop-up m<br />
enu, then choose "Restart."<br />

Reinstall CMA<br />
Step 1.<br />
Click the Windows "Start" menu, click "Programs" > "<strong>McAfee</strong>" > "VirusScan Console."<br />

Right-click "Access Protection," choose "Properties" from the drop-down menu and choos<br />
e "Common Standard Protection."<br />

Disable the "Prevent modification of <strong>McAfee</strong> files and settings" option and<br />
