Dickson Company has released
its new Digital Display Temperature
and Humidity Data Loggers, for monitoring
temperature and humidity in
shipping containers. The Loggers feature
both push-to-start and push-to-stop
functions. A temperature-only version is
also available.
UK-company C A Clase has recently
introduced SatPro's LRITpro D200 and
the LRITpro L800 to its commercial
marine distribution range, which enable
ships to send Automatic Position Reports
(APR) to LRIT data centres, in accordance
with IMO LRIT regulations. The systems
cost approximately £1600.

Jeppesen agrees Chile deal

The Hydrographic and Oceanographic
Service of the Chilean Navy has signed an
agreement with Jeppesen Marine for the use
of Chilean data in Jeppesen-derived products.
The Chilean Hydrographic Office (SHOA)
and Jeppesen Marine have also agreed in
principle to work together on the development
of the first product version of Marine
Pilotage Charts (MPCs) for Chilean waters.
The development of the Chilean MPCs
will include other stakeholders, such as
the Chilean Maritime Authority and the
Pilot Association of Chile, who will collectively
contribute to the development of
these procedural charts.
"This agreement is the first step in a true
partnership between the highly respected
Chilean HO and Jeppesen Marine," said
Michael Bergmann, director maritime industry
safety-affairs-services, Jeppesen Marine.
"The forward looking attitude of the
executives at SHOA, combined with a
strong Jeppesen Marine team, will bring
new navigation services to life. We believe
that MPCs will be the first of these new
services and offers an innovative
approach which will improve navigation
safety for mariners, including both the
navigators of the vessels as well as the
highly-respected Chilean pilots."

Coastguard Agency has approved the

OSG to implement Datatrac

Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) is to
implement two systems from Datatrac to
assist in the capture of onboard vessel data
in electronic format, following a 12-month
testing period.
The Envirotrac system will be used to
track the integrity of the vessel waste
stream systems, while the EERL service
will allow the electronic generation of
engine room logs.
The applications are now being
installed across the OSG fleet.
The EERL system reduces the paper-
work associated with traditional handling
of engine room logs by collecting digital
data in a PDA. Data entry is timed and
PIN secured.
The hand held readers used by the system
operate in association with electronic
tags fixed within the engine room; touching
these cues the user to relevant questions,
with answers provided on the builtin
screen.
The Envirotrac system allows for the
monitoring, recording and audit of environmental
tags, fitted to waste handling
pipe work, associated valves and flanges
to ensure the integrity of the system.
