1. What will be the invention?<br />

The invention that we will be making is a project for a portable tire recycling<br />

machine. This machine will grind the tires to recycled rubber grains removing the<br />

steel from it GCR mixing the rubber grains with a fine rubber powder that in<br />

addition to the asphaltic mix will improve its flexibility properties, resistance,<br />

traction and longer lasting use than the conventional pavement. Also will allow<br />

other future uses.<br />

2. What will the invention be about?<br />

The invention will be about this machine is the probability of been portable it will be<br />

easily loaded in a small truck in which used tires will be grind anywhere.<br />

3. What will be the most important characteristics of the invention?<br />

The most important characteristics of this invention will be:<br />

The portability of the machine<br />

The operational low cost<br />

The ability to move from place to place in a timely manner<br />

It will be able to recycle over 100 tons of used tires per year<br />

Reduction of procedures<br />

The net profit of this operation could reach 8,000 usd per year<br />

It will produce rubber grains of 4mm for artificial lawns and mats<br />

It will produce rubber grains of 2.5 mm for asphalt mixtures<br />

The machine will measure 6 x 5 meters<br />

4. What will the most relevant impacts of the invention for the<br />

community?<br />

It will impact in a positive way to the community of Pereira and also to the entire<br />

world, because we will be able to reduce polluting tires which is a big problem to<br />

the environment in the latest years. One tire needs great amounts of energy to be<br />

fabricated (1/2 barrel of oil to make one set of tires for one car) and also causes<br />

great contamination of the environment if is not recycled accordingly.<br />

An old un recycled tire can host mosquitoes and rodents that affects human health.<br />

The process of recollection grinding and transportation will be done directly at the<br />

tire shops and recycling centers in addition to that the steel from the tires will be<br />

recycled to get an extra profit. This recycled material will have different uses within<br />

the community, like paints, sport complex floors, running tracks, tennis courts,<br />

safer roads, playgrounds pavements, shoe bottoms and hoses.<br />

5. What will be the cost of this future invention?<br />

The approximate cost of this machine will be $15,000 usd, this includes the<br />

machine installation to the truck.<br />
