BALL SHADOW SPARRING 

PURPOSE 

To develop muscular endurance, speed, reactions and 

evasion skills. This drill is suitable for all ages and abilities, 

provided they are familiar with shadow sparring and 

evasion techniques. Our Junior Foam Dodge Balls are 

great for this game as they are soft and lightweight. 

PROCEDURE 

• Students A and B stand facing each other. 

• B holds several Junior Foam Dodge Balls, while A begins 

to shadow spar. 

• While A shadow spars, B lightly, and randomly, tosses 

the balls (one at a time) at A, who attempts to evade 

them. 

• After a set time period, or after all the balls have rolled 

away, A and B switch roles. 

PAD CIRCUIT 

PURPOSE 

To develop muscular endurance, as well as punching and 

kicking techniques. This drill is suitable for everyone. We 

recommend our Junior Strike Shields and Junior Focus 

Pads for this drill. 

PROCEDURE 

• Divide the class into two equal groups. One half of which 

grabs the Junior Strike Shields and Junior Focus Pads, 

and then forms a large circle around the training hall. 

• Every student holding a pad or shield is allocated a 

technique by the instructor. 

• The other half of the class finds one pad or shield holder 

to stand in front of. 

• After a set amount of time the students performing 

the techniques move one space clockwise to try a new 

technique. 


VINYL BLOCKER RELAY 

PURPOSE 

To develop aerobic fitness, coordination and leg power. 

It is a fun relay race suitable for all levels and ages. We 

recommend using our Junior Vinyl Blockers since, they are 

easy to hold and the foam makes them very safe. 

PROCEDURE 

• Divide the class into groups of four or five, all line up 

behind the team leader. 

• When the instructor shouts 'Go!' the first student in 

each team runs to the opposite wall, picks up the vinyl 

blocker and returns to their line with the vinyl blocker 

parallel to the floor and at knee height. 

• As they run down the line, each team member has to 

jump over the vinyl blocker, until the student reaches 

the end. 

• They then return the stick and the next student goes. 

TAIL CHASE 

PURPOSE 

To develop reactions, speed, footwork and movement 

skills. It is a fun, competitive drill which is suitable for all 

ages and abilities. Our Catch and Tag Game is perfect for 

this drill! 

PROCEDURE 

• Students A and B face each other standing or kneeling 

in fighting stance. 

• Student A is wearing the catch and tag belt with only 

one tag attached at the back. 

• When the instructor shouts 'Go!', B attempts to grab the 

tag, while A tries to prevent them from doing so. 

• Both A and B can move in any direction. 

• When B gets hold of the sock, or after a set time period,
