You need to consider • The value you place on 'Accreditation' • How much you would like to pay for the camp • Whether you need the camp to provide transportation • Does your child have any special needs DAYCAMPS: Playmore Day Camp Adventure Playmore Day Camp Adventure offers ideal opportunities for both cottage owners and Kenora residents looking at short term camping activities. The day camp is geared to children, four- 12 years, who get to experience camp and still return home each evening! They have the best of both worlds - the camp community which is built exclusively for kids and their own home which provides the security they need and quality time in the summer with their families. The success of our campers is centered on our age-specific groups, excellent staff, and our wide variety of activities. We provide traditional camp activities like swimming, arts & crafts, music, archery, canoeing, kayaking, ropes course, sports, games, and group initiative activities. We also offer Friday lunch cook-outs and occasional outings throughout the summer. Through handson activities, careful supervision and low counselor to camper ratios, Playmore Day Camp Adventure builds self-esteem, provides an excellent opportunity for individual growth and maturity and offers a safe and enjoyable summer alternative for children. We also offer a CIT (counselor in training) program for 13 - 15 years seeking advanced leadership programs within a day camp environment. Some sessions are full. For further information, please contact the BB Camp office (see advertisement for contact information). Assiniboine Park Zoo Camp When School is Out, the Zoo is In! Summer Camp at Assiniboine Park Zoo is perfect for children age five to 12 who love Use the information you have prepared to select a number of camp options as you go through the list of camps. Contact the camp to find out if space is available and to ask any additional questions you may have (including registration processes). You should then have an idea as to your first two or three preferences. Now all you have to do is register for your first preference. The Manitoba Camping Association recommends choosing an Accredited Camp. Visit www.mbcamping.ca for further information about accreditation animals, nature, art and spending time outdoors. Our campers spend fun-filled summer days exploring the Park and Zoo, learning about animals and nature, and making new friends. Weekly camps in July and August alternate between two fun, furry and fantastic themes. Daily activities include a hands-on animal experience, a visit with a zookeeper, and a trip to either the Polar Playground at the Zoo or the Nature Playground in the Park. Each week, campers will also be invited to go behind the scenes at the Zoo. They will help create enrichment items for Zoo animals and venture out into the Park to enjoy the Conservatory, gardens, and other attractions. Each week also includes the ever-popular water games! Campers are divided into three age groups. The daily schedule and activities are tailored to be age-appropriate and encourage positive social interactions among campers. With the Undercover Observer, children step into the shoes of spies in action. What looks like an ordinary camera is actually a sneaky surveillance device that lets children spy on the side. Crazy Chemworks Camp Shake up a flask of fun in the lab as a junior chemist! These five days of chemistry are packed solid with cool reactions. Campers put on goggles and change liquid to solid and back again. They get to handle laboratory tools, build and break molecules, and pick up some tricks on chemical changes. As a bonus, each camper will receive enough 'take-homes' throughout the week to start your own lab at home after the camp is over and will know how to handle each instrument!! The Children’s Museum The Children’s Museum offers fun-filled Day Camps that get kids’ minds and bodies moving during spring and summer breaks. Our Day Camps are a great, safe place for kids to spend their holidays. Museum campers will create, discover, learn, and meet new friends as they explore exciting themes related to our galleries. Grouped with others of a similar age, campers will enjoy stimulating, age-appropriate activities. This year, you can give your child a unique summer camp experience at Red River College. The ever-popular Kids Cook Camp returns this summer with new recipes, new techniques and a field trip to explore where our food comes from. The camps run every week starting July 10 to August 14. The camp is held at Paterson Global Foods Institute - home of RRC's School of Culinary Arts - under the direction of our experienced Chef. Your child will learn new culinary skills and, best of all, bring home some delicious treats at the end of each day. New this year is the Design Camp. If you have a budding designer who is 10 to 14 years old, this is the camp for them. They will learn how to design a product, a room, or whatever their imagination creates under the direction of a professional designer. It will be held at the Roblin Centre in a professional drawing and design classroom. Both camps are for children 10-14 years old. Camps run from 9:00am to 4:00pm with drop-offs at 8:30 and pick-ups by 4:30pm.
