I was managing a bar in Maple Valley-- The Valley Taphouse- when
the owners decided to take on their well-deserved retirement. I had
recently moved to Auburn and was already a customer of the Stash
Box when I submitted a resume. I was lucky enough to have my
resume catch the attention of the owner and founder, James
Blankenship, who called me in for an interview and immediately
picked up on the traits that easily translate from bartender to
budtender. I started 'cocktailing' strains to pair flavors and effects
and my passion and appreciation for cannabis blossomed from there.
You'd be amazed how many full length documentaries about cannabis
there are for free on YouTube and how many you can watch while just
packing bowl after bowl.
Tazzy chops it up with Nikki at the StashBox
Hemp Life Magazine: Weed + Music = Hemp Life. What does
the statement Hemp Life mean to you and how do you express it in
your everyday life if any?
Stash Box: The statement Hemp Life to me is inclusive in the most
real sense. Music has a unique power to bring people together in
ways few other things in existence really can and in an honest sense-
- not just a superficial one. Sure, you show up with a bottle to a
party and you'll make friends, but smoke a bowl and talk about your
favorite album and that friend will probably be a bit more
memorable than whatever blur or blackout you stumble into. Don't
get me wrong, I've definitely earned the nickname Smokahontas and
I love to smoke to get high, but it doesn't hurt that it keeps me level
and sane too. The industry is happy to "get your face melted off" as
one of my sunniest budtenders likes to put it, but the cannabis
community is extending and including people that aren't just looking
for that. For example, CBD's changed my life after I started using
strains like Pennywise and Harlequin to mellow out anxiety, topicals
are a climbing market because of people discovering the benefits
beyond the psychoactive effects; people who never would have even
stepped into a cannabis dispensary otherwise.
Hemp Life Magazine: Some people may look at those who smoke
pot as unmotivated, a bad person or just someone who is doing
nothing with their life...how do you feel about that and what is
your message to those that may disapprove or who are still not very
accepting of the Stoner community?
Stash Box: Anytime you put a blanket label over a whole
demographic you set yourself up to be disproved. Are there lazy
stoners? Sure. There are also honest lawyers, liberal rednecks, and
lazy non-cannabis smokers. It's near impossible to pin-point with
absolute certainty how cannabis might affect someone, between
everybody's brain chemistry being different and the different traits
each strain presents, not to mention how frequent the use is. The
most motivated individual might get couch-locked from a bowl, but
for me smoking a good sativa joint like OG Chem gets me hyped to
do the dishes and conquer the world. Everybody's gonna have their
preconceived notions, but the goal is live your life despite those
notions. Some of the most driven and motivated people I have ever
met are the people in the cannabis industry who smoke every day,
all day.
Hemp Life Magazine: Tell us how you got started in the
Cannabis Industry. Any positive experiences you'd like to share?
Hemp Life Magazine: In your opinion, what makes the Cannabis
culture unique and where do you see it going in the next 5-10
years?
Stash Box: The people are what make the cannabis culture unique. I
actually didn't even start smoking until pretty late compared to most
other smokers I know, but I was always hanging out with the 'stoners'
and 'burnouts' and often grouped in with being a cannabis smoker
because of it. Truth be told these were the people that were the most
accepting and least exhausting to be around. They had other things to
talk about besides reality shows and clothing brands. They talked
about music, comics, art, design, and adventure. What this crowd had
to say was more supportive and less judgmental than what I had
experienced being around other people, people that didn't smoke.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the cannabis industry doesn't have
superficial or judgmental people, or that smoking pot makes you some
artistic sort of elite. Smoking cannabis isn't a prerequisite for being in
some way enlightened, but there is some correlation between
cannabis and an open mind. I can't imagine where this industry and
culture will be in the next 5-10 years. The Washington Post actually
published an article comparing the recreational cannabis market to
tripling the size of the NFL by 2020 and that's not even something
that's out of reach. Our store and others have seen steady growth in
revenue (2016 was the year of the super increase of volume) and the
amount of that going to taxes that go back to the state isn't something
going unnoticed by other states on the fence about legalization, I'm
sure. The propaganda seems to be dying off. "Reefer madness" is
more than a movie title or a joke, there's actual workplaces that
permit the use of cannabis during work hours now.
I carded my grandma when she bought some of our product to help
her sleep, and just yesterday another family member of mine who
hasn't smoked in decades came in and purchased a topical that
significantly relieved his back pain. He has already let me know he
will be back in tomorrow to purchase some more.
Hemp Life Magazine: Tell us more about the Stash Box. What
sets your business apart from other dispensaries?
Stash Box: The amount of high-end, top of the line, branded, and
mass marketed product is in no short supply in the industry. We have
a selection of those products, but our focus remains on what our
customers can get by maximizing their dollar amount. We stay
stocked with inexpensive grams, eighths, pre-rolls, dabs, but the
majority of our product we try to keep would be the stuff that you
smoke and you can't believe you didn't have to pay more for it. Our
customers aren't Bill Gates, they're average people looking for that
after work bowl or joint to help them unwind or the wake and bake
they can rely on to get up and sip on some coffee with. The Stash Box
strives to remain accessible with our products and prices. We don't
7

want the people that come into our store to wonder whether they're
going to be able to afford to walk out happy or not, we want them to
know that they will.
Hemp Life Magazine: Any product recommendations or must try
strains?
Stash Box: The first one that comes to mind is Cookies and Cream
from Sonic Green. I love some sweet, smooth flower that turns me
into a comedian around my friends. Grape Tahoe OG from
Remedium Farms fits into that category as well with a taste that I
often compare to fresh air off a mountain top. Aside from flower I've
gotten pretty deep into the dab life by being stuck on almost
anything produced by Two Heads Co. Their super refined distillate
is so smooth it's easy to go overboard, but luckily you don't really
mind it. They started making an exclusive distillate of Tangie mixed
with Pear Herer we now carry called Juice Box that's coming in at
95% total cannabinoids and 89% THC. The Stash Box's owner's
wife accurately described the flavor as "a party". Juice Box could
not have been a more perfect name.
Hemp Life Magazine: Outside of the industry, what are some
things you like to do for fun? Any hobbies?
Stash Box: When I'm not at work I spend a lot of time getting
tattooed. I've gotten most of my work done at Action Tattoo in
Auburn. I'm up to about 75 or 80 hours under the needle at this
point with a lot more time still to go. Weed, tattoos, and my
awesome year old pit bull/lab/shepherd mix definitely keep me busy.
Hemp Life Magazine: Any comments, shot outs or last
words? Anything you want to say to the world and/or Stoner
community? Anything you want to touch basis on that we haven't
already?
Stash Box: I would set the reason for our success squarely on the
shoulders of our small, but intensely passionate and efficient staff.
Our staff is made up of only a dozen people including myself and
another manager. When we aren't at work, it's not unlikely we're
smoking with each other, trying new strains we've got in, and
discussing how they hit us individually. Even if your budtender for
that visit hasn't personally experienced a strain, chances are they
got a direct run down from a co-worker who has. No lazy stoners
here, just turbo enthusiast who are happy to get paid for what they
love anyway.
Rollin’ Dirty – Exclusive Interview
college, I developed cases of insomnia and high-functioning
depression. Since using cannabis and doing research on how every
plant has a medicinal, nutritional, and psychological benefits, I've
been able to sleep about 5-6 hours a night versus the 0-2 I wouldn't
get if I didn't consume.(indica) Without cannabis sometimes it's hard
to do the most minimal tasks because of my depression. It is known to
consume me so deeply that I have no will to move from my bed. Since
my discovery I have been able to perform everyday tasks because it
relieves my depression and motivates me to get out of bed in the
morning (sativa).
Hemp Life Magazine: Tell us about your movement, what you
do and how you got involved in the Cannabis Industry?
Rollin' Dirty: Rollin' Dirty is a lifestyle brand that has the style,
finesse, and hustle of the east coast, with a west coast attitude. Started
earlier this year we believed everything must be done in a smooth
manner, but we take our time to make sure that every single moving
part of the brand is functioning at 100% just like our hemp papers.
Hemp Life Magazine: Weed + Music = Hemp Life. What does
the statement Hemp Life mean to you and how do you express it in
your everyday life if any?
Rollin' Dirty: Hemp life means a rich life. Rich in education,
community building, and prosperity. Rich in peace, community
building, and innovation. Revolutionizing the way the work operates
to make it a better place. I express hemp life everyday by living by
my own guidelines and doing what I like which is smoking, listening
to music and creating positive energy within my team and my
world.
Hemp Life Magazine: Some people may look at those who smoke
pot as unmotivated, a bad person or just someone who is doing
nothing with their life...how do you feel about that and what is
your message to those that may disapprove or who are still not very
accepting of the Stoner community?
Rollin' Dirty: It is what it is. Everybody is entitled to their own
opinion. If you don't like the Cannabis community then that's your
preference. The internet and social media has provided us with
many outlets to reach out to different people across the globe to
increase our awareness of hemp benefits, as well as many medicinal
and nutritional benefits that it provides as well. We've also used the
free market of the internet to create our own community, and with
that we were able to create our own commerce as well as own rules.
The green rush is real and it's only in the infant stages. It's the
1920's prohibition all over again eventually they'll have no choice
but to accept it because the people demand it.
Hemp Life Magazine: Part of our mission here at Smokers
Society & Hemp Life Magazine is to promote the benefits of
Cannabis as well as create a platform for self-expression. What
are some health benefits that you may have experienced (or heard
of) from using weed?
Rollin' Dirty: Since I was 16 I've always had trouble sleeping
through the night, then once I finished my terms with the Army and
I've been involved in the cannabis industry since I was 13 years old
from the street side. We all have to start from somewhere. Fast
forward 10 years later is when my interest for Cannabis really grew
exponentially. I started researching the legalization of marijuana
back in 2009 for a research paper in college. I received an A- on that
project and that's what sparked my interest in the Cannabis industry.
Hemp Life Magazine: Your papers are 100% pure Hemp. That's
kind of genius when you think about using both sides of the plant at
the same time to fulfill one purpose. What are some reactions
you've gotten in regards to your product?
Rollin' Dirty: I've received nothing but positive feedback from
everybody that has tried it out so far from my home state New Jersey
to New York, Connecticut, Boston, Atlanta, California, Oregon,
Jamaica, Colombia, Canada, and now Seattle. Everybody that I've
associated myself with has told me that I am moving in the right
direction to continue making people aware of the untapped potential
which is the hemp industry. Rollin' Dirty is not even one year old, but
I'm excited for the future of the brand, and extremely excited for the
hemp and cannabis industry as a whole.
Hemp Life Magazine: What is your overall message to the world?
Rollin' Dirty: Let's come together and continue to grow as a
community to bring awareness to the many benefits of cannabis and
hemp, the untapped market for unlimited potential. It's more than just
about smoking and getting high, it's about opening up a whole new
avenue of revenue, job creation, medicine, food, clothing, etc. The
only thing that's stopping us from progressing is ourselves.
Hemp Life Magazine: Any comments, shot outs or last
words? Anything you want to say to the world and/or Stoner
community? Anything you want to touch basis on that we haven't
already?
Rollin' Dirty: Let's continue to grow, network, and evolve our
brands and each other's interests to make this community a greener
place not only for our personal interests, but for future generations
that would love to be a part of this industry. Shoutout to the pioneers
that paved the way for legalization, decriminalization, and
reeducation of the plants, shoutout to those that are currently boots
on the ground keeping up awareness, and breaking new ground. And
a huge shoutout to the stoners all across the world, east, west, north,
A: To be honest, everything may not be for everybody and that’s
okay (to each their own). We’re not all lazy stoners who sit around
Brian Harris chops it up with Hemp Life!
learning how to grow pot and making it in different formats to help
other people get the great engagement that comes with consuming
cannabis.
Hemp Life Magazine: What are some of your hobbies/things you
like to do for fun?
Brian: Some of the things that I like to do for fun would have to be
gaming for sure. I love having a bunch of friends over and getting
down on some first person shooter. My favorite types of games would
have to be RPG. Other than that I just love to be out in the world
experiencing life to the fullest.
Hemp Life Magazine: Weed + Music = Hemp Life. What does
the statement Hemp Life mean to you and how do you express it in
your everyday life if any?
Brian: The statement hemp life means having the freedom to be a
free spirit and choose what you want to be in life. I express my hemp
life by dressing a different way, trying something new or just in
general trying to become a better me every day.
Hemp Life Magazine: Some people may look at those who smoke
pot as unmotivated, a bad person or just someone who is doing
nothing with their life...how do you feel about that and what is
your message to those that may disapprove or who are still not very
accepting of the Stoner community?
Brian: For the people that think smoking weed makes you
unmotivated, I'm a subcontractor for 3 different companies where
I'm my own boss. Also I have 2 other jobs that fill in the free hour
that I have during the week. I'm only 25 years old and making up to
$50 bucks an hour and I smoke everyday more than several times a
day. Smoking pot doesn't make you lazy or unmotivated. It makes
you think outside of the box to succeed in life. Everyone has choices
that they can make and weed doesn't make if for them.
Hemp Life Magazine: Any comments, shot outs or last
words? Anything you want to say to the world and/or Stoner
community? Anything you want to touch basis on that we haven't
Brian: I want to give a shot out to all my good friends from
Foundation night club, you know who you are. And I want to say to
the stoner community, never let anyone tell you what you can and
cannot be and shine like the stars you were made to be.
Cannabis as well as create a platform for self-expression. What
are some health benefits that you may have experienced (or heard
of) from using weed?
Brian: Well I'm approximately 6 foot 6 inches and I have lower
back problem. Also I have scoliosis which makes it hard to work for
long periods of time. When I tried taking prescription drugs to help
with my back, the side effects caused me to be unable to work with
machinery which can be a major problem is my field of work. When
I smoke weed to treat my back I’m able to perform unhindered at my
best. It makes me feel great to continue working through the day just
fine.
Hemp Life Magazine: Tell us about yourself, what you do and
how you want to grow in the Cannabis industry?
Brian: Besides when I'm working I like to spend time hanging out
with my girlfriend. We love traveling and going out to new places to
eat. Some of our favorite night life places to go to are Foundation
Hemp Life Magazine: Weed + Music = Hemp Life. What does the
statement Hemp Life mean to you and how do you express it in your
everyday life if any?
Strictly 4 Da Streets: To me Hemp Life is a lifestyle and it breeds
creativity. I'm an avid smoker myself, so enough said.
Hemp Life Magazine: Some people may look at those who smoke
pot as unmotivated, a bad person or just someone who is doing
nothing with their life...how do you feel about that and what is your
message to those that may disapprove or who are still not very
accepting of the Stoner community?
Strictly 4 Da Streets: People are not use to change. It's been beat
into the public heads that weed is a bad thing, but most people
12

haven't even taken the time to get an understanding of the stoner
community. People are so judgmental it's crazy! Ready or not it's
coming so they are going to have to learn to accept it.
Hemp Life Magazine: Part of our mission here at Smokers
Society & Hemp Life Magazine is to promote the benefits of
Cannabis as well as create a platform for self-expression. What
are some health benefits that you may have experienced (or heard
of) from using weed?
Strictly 4 Da Streets: I know that weed helps with anxiety and in
cancer patients it eases their pain. Personally it helps me focus and
create.
Hemp Life Magazine: Tell us about your movement "Strictly 4 da
Streets". How did you get started and what is your message to the
world?
Strictly 4 Da Streets: Strictly 4 Da Streets is the new campaign of
the streets. I created S4DS to build a platform for upcoming artist to
have a place to display their visuals for their music. I think that
music videos have been displaced and I think it's time to bring them
back in a big way. In the 90's and early 2000's music videos was the
shit! People actually put time and effort into them and made it an
event when their video dropped. I want to bring that back…it's all
about the visual with me. We also mix in the mainstream videos and
Indy movies for variety, our focus is to try to put the people who
don't have the resources to get heavy exposure to be able to rock
with us and get that mainstream exposure at a very affordable price,
because we know money tight for everybody.
Hemp Life Magazine: Outside of that, what are some of your
hobbies/things you like to do for fun?
Strictly 4 Da Streets: Outside of the Strictly 4 Da Streets I'm a
sports junkie, I like to Bowl and I like to people watch when I'm high
too. It’s interesting just to sit back and see how strangers interact
with others while you are out in the clubs/lounges or mall etc.
Yukmouth steps into the Smokers Room!
Yuk: Yeah them Platinum cookies…I like them Platinum
cookies…yup definitely!
Tazzy: Okay…Well yeah I remember when you guys came up to
Tacoma like a year or so ago. Are you guys planning on coming
back to the area or Seattle anytime soon?
Yuk: Yes definitely…uhm…before the Summer…before 420…man
I’m on this tour right now and then Num apart of the tour for Da
Luniz so we got Luniz dates and Yukmouth dates on this tour. So
definitely we are going to be up there…ya know…
Tazzy: Weed + Music = Hemp Life. What does the
statement Hemp Life mean to you and how do you express it in your
everyday life?
Yuk: Smoke a lot Nation, ya dig? And I smoke weed every day (ya
feel me?) and that’s how I express it (lol) in my everyday life.
Aye man you know we made the song “I got 5 on it” so our shows is
about good vibes. So when we do “5 on it” we passing out 1 foot
joints to the crowd…the raw cone filled up, you know we smoking big
joints on stage and pass ‘em to the crowd and let them smoke it. You
know we bring love and weed to every party period…every time we
perform…so that’s what we really do with it, ya dig? That’s how we
make it a part of our everyday life. On top of smoking the best every
day, ya dig!
We fu*k with the fans too and we give back, ya know what I mean.
Got the vape pen company…we throw out my vape pens for free (all
that)…so that’s what I give back...you know what I mean?
Tazzy: Aye what’s good Yuk! I appreciate you taking some time
out of your busy day to call in and interview with me today.
How’s your day going so far?
Yuk: Ight man…definitely lovely man…on this “Based on a Vill
story” tour out here in Akron, Ohio. With the homey AmpPacino,
just did a gig at Game 7 Bar & Grill. They’re out in Akron, Ohio
definitely Pull up!
Tazzy: Okay that’s wassup! Before we get started, man I just
want to know…what are some of your favorite weed strains?
Yuk: Aww man...my best…my favorite is my own strain “Super
Dank” first of all (stank as fu*k) lol. Second favorite is definitely
ugh Durban F1 Durban, the maker of the cookie. Then the Platinum
cookie after that, then the Russian Assassin OG and then the Gorilla
Glue so that’s my top 5
Tazzy: Oh Yeah I’m off that Gorilla Glue right now, ya know, so I
can definitely dig that lol
Yuk: That Glue is crazy right? That Glue is Bananas right?
Tazzy: Yes it definitely is
Yuk: You can get stuck off that glue…for real
Tazzy: For real lol
Yuk: For real right…I’m just saying lol
Tazzy: Yeah them cookies are good & nice though…I like them
cookies too, so yeah 4 sho!
Tazzy: Yeah yeah that’s dope and when you guys came up to
Tacoma, I got one of them vape pens too. So you know good looking!
I see what you guys were doing and the crowd was just loving it!
Yuk: See…you know exactly what’s popping! Uh huh…you got a
vape pen, ya dig! See… yeah you do know. That’s our thing man you
know we want to give out (shot out Royal Blunts) …so we pass out
blunts and shit, a lot of people come to the club with weed in their
pocket (no blunts) we throw blunts out there so mf can roll
up…period. You know what I mean… cones…you want cigar
cones…throw them mf’s out there…whatever you smoke, we throwing
that bitch in the crowd…period! Enjoy…have a great time…that’s
how we do it!
Tazzy: Yeah I know that’s right! Well you know some people may
look at those who smoke pot as unmotivated, a bad person or just
someone who is doing nothing with their life...but with you being in
that lifestyle I mean you can definitely prove that wrong because
you are definitely doing a whole lot. How do you feel about that?
And what is your message to those that may disapprove and/or are
still not very accepting of the Stoner community?
Yuk: I think like this man…weed is a happy drug, first of all and you
can’t overdose on weed. You ain’t going to have a dui on weed and
kill somebody driving. You can smoke some weed and drive perfectly.
Nah mean. You can go smoke some weed and do your business…you
can be a lawyer at a law firm, still handle your case smoking some
weed. So it just enhances your senses, you nah mean? It’s like when
Spider man got the spider senses & shit…it enhances your senses
period…whatever you’re doing! Whether it’s music, whether it’s
whatever…it enhances it…it steps your game up…it open it up, nah
mean…period…Like I be closed minded...a lot...until I smoke a blunt.
14

Once I smoke a blunt, my mind is open. The ideas are flowing like a
mf! Shit…I don’t even do music without weed
man…period…because it motivates me, it gives me that energy that I
need, you know what I mean.
You know I can do it without it, no doubt, but its better and it’s way
flyer, when you do it higher, period…That’s all I’m saying…lol
Tazzy: Yeah 4 sho’…it’s a lifestyle…
Yuk: Straight up, it’s a lifestyle…
Tazzy: For those that aren’t part of it, they just don’t understand it,
but it’s definitely a lifestyle
Yuk: Yeah it’s just like when the Rock N Roll mf’s used to do the
mushrooms and the acids & shit, to open up their shit so they can
make the wild ass songs or whatever. I just need some weed! That
open up the world for me man…I’m good…period…I don’t need the
extra shit but it’s the same thing, nah mean? Some people take
pills…some people shoot heroin…some people snort coke…I smoke
weed, it’s a difference. It gets that same level of (you know) making
your mind expand. Nah mean...that’s what it’s about…period.
Tazzy: Yeah that’s what we try to do here at the Smokers Society &
Hemp Life Magazine too. It’s all about sharing creative content
because you can just blaze up…ya know and chop it up. You’ll be
amazed at how many people smoke but for whatever type of job they
do, they can’t really express it (in that sense). So we (the Smokers
Society) just try to come together and create ways to where you
know we can all just come together…we’re not judging
nobody…stoners don’t really judge nobody…we just want to smoke
(unless you got some bammer) you know then it’s a whole different
story lol. You know what I mean though.
Yuk: Imma say that even the biggest people in the game is getting
into the Marijuana industry (s/o Warren Buffett). He’s building the
biggest globe plant in America…so that shows you where the game
is going…period. If Warren Buffett…the biggest mf with the most
money is investing into Marijuana, then hey, you know where the
game is going…period! It’s like liquor, the prohibition day, you
know what I mean? When liquor became legal, you know how much
money them mf’s made that had the liquor companies (legally)?
Was able to run their bottles through every store…every club…every
this, that and the third, you know what I mean? They made so much
money…so boom…mf’s getting a lead…getting a head start on the
game. Shot out Warren Buffett! Lol
Tazzy: Yeah I can dig that! Yeah a lot of people are definitely
getting involved. People you wouldn’t even think. So all you can do
is legalize it more and keep spreading it…
Yuk: Imma say this…there are so many doctors and lawyers in LA
with Cannabis clubs and imma end on that…period. Lol. While
their doing surgery they got a club going heavy, you feel me? Lol.
So everybody is getting into the game and it’s positive…you know
what I mean? Good vibes…you also curing people and helping
people with cancer. Helping people with other diseases, you know
just helping people period. But beyond just smoking and enjoying
the recreational, it really cures people; you know what I mean…so
you know it’s a good thing, definitely!
Tazzy: Oh yeah 4 sho!
Yuk: Different type of oils…be curing people with cancer and
shit… everything…so it’s huge. ‘
Tazzy: Yeah it’s more than just smoking too. It definitely does
things like that too. It’s also good for the environment all together, so
over the next 5-10 years, I can see it being more of a worldwide thing
and not just in the US but in different countries & stuff too.
So for those that don't know, tell us how you got started in music
and how you & Numskull hooked up to form Da Luniz?
Yuk: Man basically Num was rapping. Me & Num met up in the 8 th
grade…he was rapping; he had a group called “BWP”. I was the
artist of the group. I was a cartoonist so I was drawing their pictures
& shit and I was a dope dealer. You know the fly nikka of the
group…so they wanted me on board just because I was fly.
Years passed…I wasn’t no dope rapper at all. I was pure
bullshit…bottom of the totem pole…Num was the best rapper. Years
passed…you know in the streets…in & out…go to jail…in & out…do
a year in jail in juvenile hall. Boom…study…got my game
together…came out the best rapper…period. Came out with the
plan…Da Luniz…Da Looney Tunes. We called our group “Da
Looney Tunes”. I named “NumSkull” and my name “Yukmouth”.
Came out with the condom man, the logo…first song…”Ice Cream
Man”. Got out, we got the deal with that song “Ice Cream Man”.
End up being on Dru Down’s album and on C-note records (the
label) & all that.
End up getting sign to Virgin with the “5 on it album” and the rest is
history.
Tazzy: Yeah 4 sho! Yeah you guys got some cuts too! Man…lol
Yuk: That part!
Tazzy: I can go on and on about that but man I love it!
Yuk: And let’s not even go to me going to Rap-A-lot and starting my
solo career…and doing my Yukmouth thing…that’s another story!
But yeah we doing it! Lol
Tazzy: Yeah 4 sho…lol
Yuk: That part…
Tazzy: Well tell us…you know…more about your current project
that just dropped a couple of weeks ago "JJ Based on a Vill Story".
Tell us a little about that.
Yuk: Yes that’s my latest project! JJ Based on a Vill Story, I just
dropped the part I. The part II dropping next month. But uhm it’s
basically the prequel to “Thugged Out”. You know basically the
story of what I was doing before “Thugged Out”. So that’s why it
sound so intricate…or familiar…or remind you of “Thugged Out” or
Godzilla, you know what I mean? Because it’s back to that…you
know the story telling that happened before that, so you familiar with
it already. You know what I mean…that’s why people like the
album…you know back to the bars…you know. A lot of my fans been
complaining…they want they old Yuk back. So you know just had to
listen to my fans and take it back. So…“JJ Based on a Vill Story” is
out. Featuring C-Bo, Big Mike, Amp Pacino, Young Noble, G Stack,
Pooh Man, Compton Menace, Mitchy Slick and a lot of other
people…period. Bang, bang it! Go get that part I…part II dropping
next month..featuring…well I’m not going to pull the rabbit out the
15

16

hat yet but when that part II come out, we’ll talk about that, ya dig?
Tazzy: Okay! Shot out on the project and that bird’s song too. I
was checking that out and man that song goes hard! I’m definitely
feeling it!
Yuk: Good looking!
Tazzy: Yeah I’m an old school cat too so I’m still listening to a lot
of the older school. I’m all about the bars & stuff too. So man
hiphop needs that. You just gotta take it back basically. You know
there’s a lot of bullshit out here but there’s a lot of talented people
too. You know but you just gotta bring it back.
Yuk: Basically…yeah…a lot of talented too. Definitely…shot out
to Drake, shot out Kendrick, shot out Cole, you know what I
mean…there’s a lot of dope dudes out there, man…a lot of mumble
rap too. So we gotta take it back to real shit period! A lot of dresses
being worn out there…
Tazzy: Lol
Yuk: Its hell out there…looking wild…lol…so we just gotta take it
back to the real…shit…fu*king wild, look like a circus out there
right now
Tazzy: Lol. Yeah I don’t know what they doing with that…we
definitely got to get some order!
Yuk: All types of ish going on. Red heads with beads…it’s wild out
there. Just gotta get back grown up on their ass and just take it back
to what we know, you know.
Tazzy: Yeah…yeah…
Yuk: No disrespect…I love them guys… we just got to get some
swag back out there….nikkas look wild out there man. Sideshow
Bob out there, it’s looking real ugly. But yeah I like their music
though, you got to have party music, you know what I mean, so I
party to their shit. But when you really put that ski mask on, you
grab that AK 47; you throw that Yuk on…period! I’m the theme
music of the streets! That’s all. I’m cool with that…you know what
I mean.
Tazzy: Yeah and you’ve been doing it for a while too so you got to
show how them how it’s done…you know.
Yuk: Right…right…right…you know I just looked at my
discography…you know…42 albums in!
Tazzy: Wow…
Yuk: 42…that’s all my group projects and my solo projects
together. Compilations and all that shit…42 projects! The one
coming out next month is going to be 43!
Tazzy: Wow that’s dope man!
Yuk: That part…that way…you know…lol
Tazzy: Yeah that’s hot man and sound like you just getting started
all over again. Like with this new project, you are just going in!
Yuk: That peak! Sound like I’m just now reaching the peak…sound
like I’m just getting to that peak…so it ain’t even over yet, it’s just
now starting again! So nikkas better watch out we going to 60
albums! Fu*k that…we going to do 60 and then we going to play the
back field and put nikkas on after that…lol, ya dig?
Tazzy: Lol. I know that’s right! So what keeps you going? Like
what keeps you motivated?
Yuk: I love hiphop…I love rapping…I love myself. I love this shit…I
love the way I spit! I’m my biggest fan man. I love to listen to my
shit…period. So I got to keep doing new shit to keep me with new shit
to listen to, you know what I mean? Period. So you know I just like
to get in there and test me…you know to see what I’m doing with this
rap shit. Not compared to what everybody else is doing. No I just
want to test my lines…it’s like a competitive thing. You do this shit
just for the competition…for the sport…you know nikkas ain’t really
selling no albums right now. It’s for the sport…nah mean…selling
merchandise, doing shows…that’s money. The endorsements and
shit…the side hustle’s your money but nikkas just rapping for the
sport. Period…so I do it for the sport…straight up.
Tazzy: Okay that’s what’s up! What is your message to the world
and do you have any advice to any upcoming artists?
Yuk: “You don’t grind…you don’t shine”…that’s my motto so get on
it...period. The moment you stop, it stop…period…you keep going;
it’s going to keep going. Don’t let one door get closed in your face,
follow your dreams. Stop that…Jay Z got a million doors closed in
his face, now look at him. You know what I mean…look at him now.
He stuck to it. He believed in himself. So believe in yourself, stick to
it, keep grinding, stay persistent & consistent, stay in their
face…everything is at a push of button. Nah mean…work your social
game…get viral…keep your videos out there…you know let mf’s tap
into your personality & swag and you got it…period…straight up.
Tazzy: Fo’ sho. Alright…cool. What can we expect from
Yukmouth, Da Luniz and Smoke A-lot in the future?
Yuk: Well basically me and Num working on that new Luniz album
“Operation Stackola II”, that should be dropping at the end of the
year or next year. I got my book “Based on a Vill story” dropping
this summer. We about to drop the movie to that too…that’s going to
be crazy. Doing an album with C-Bo (another Thug Lordz), me & C-
Bo getting into the lab again. Doing another Regime project. Amp
Pacino…me and Amp doing our first group album…about to kill them
with that (the Block Monsters).
Back to my Podcast game (Smoke A-lot radio), we about to relaunch
that in the summer. Uhm my glass company (Smoke A-lot glass), my
vape company “Dime Vape”, yeah that’s about it…lol
Tazzy: Okay yeah we will definitely keep people posted too on what
you’re doing because we stay following. So you know just keep on
banging that hot music! Loving the projects!
Yuk: Thank you!
Tazzy: You’re welcome! So outside of music, what are some
things you like to do for fun? What are some of your hobbies?
Yuk: Drawing, shit I like playing pool, rolling dice (I love rolling
dice lol). Simple shit man. Just simple shit that mf’s don’t expect a mf
to do. I love rolling dice…period…nah mean. Go to football &
basketball games, do normal shit. Comedy clubs and ish like that.
17

You know grown up shit, ya dig?
Tazzy: Yeah 4 sure! What about any last words, comments or
shot outs? Anything you want to say to the world?
Yuk: Man shot out everybody! All the fans that have supported me
for so long! Smoke A-lot nation, everybody…my whole Regime mob,
all my mob nikkas that support me and fu*k with me. Uhm,
everybody…period. Big shot out for just rocking with Yukmouth
period…man…tap in with all my social networks, you know
@ThaRealYukmouth on twitter. @RegimeGeneral on IG and
www.SmokeAlotRecords.com (the website).
Tazzy: Alright man I appreciate you man. I know you got to go
and got a lot of things going on today, but I will definitely keep you
updated on when the next issue drops and maybe send you some
copies too.
Yuk: Okay thank you baby! Thanks for the opportunity and thanks
for the interview!
Tazzy: Alright you have a good day! Thank you! Peace
Yuk: You too…1 mob
you can find that people are extremely capable and driven. My
partner and I are 22, we’re both daily cannabis smokers, but we’re
also fitness fanatics, I’m a financial analyst and a dancer, he can
solve a Rubik’s cube in under 15 seconds, I’m working on publishing
a book, we are anything but unmotivated, and we are just two
examples.
Hemp Life Magazine: Part of our mission here at Smokers Society
& Hemp Life Magazine is to promote the benefits of Cannabis as
well as create a platform for self-expression. What are some health
benefits that you may have experienced (or heard of) from using
weed?
Rae: I’ve had a lot of personal experience with using cannabis for its
medicinal benefits. It was first suggested to me by my father; I’ve
suffered from a lot of chronic back pain, and slipped a disc last year.
After weeks of trying to work through the haze of narcotics, I started
using topical cannabis butter. It took away my need for narcotics and
was able to feel like myself again. Later in life I’ve used cannabis for
helping with social anxiety, trouble sleeping, and found the most
amazing tattoo ointment I’ve ever used.
Hemp Life Magazine: Tell us about yourself, what you do and how
you want to grow in the Cannabis industry?
Rae: I’m crazy about nutrition, fitness and wellness, and to me,
cannabis has been an amazing tool for personal wellness, spiritually
and physically. Cannabis can be used to center yourself in
meditation, ease pain while stretching and help reach creative
potential. If I could grow in the cannabis industry, I would love to
share with people the diverse culture cannabis can have. People tend
to sit in their homes while high, which can be fantastic and relaxing,
and just the right thing for some people. But I have had the
opportunity to bring my close friends on amazing experiences, from
the planetarium, to nature walks, and art galleries. Opening your
mind and heart with cannabis can bring a whole new life to
experiences.
@Raenbowww
Weed + Music = Hemp Life. What does the
statement Hemp Life mean to you and how do you express it in
your everyday life if any?
Rae: To me, Hemp Life is about celebrating the diverse benefits
and possibilities of the cannabis plant. From recreational use, to
fabrics and medicine, it is an amazing plant, that when combined
with a brilliant mind has endless possibilities.
Hemp Life: Some people may look at those who smoke pot as
unmotivated, a bad person or just someone who is doing nothing
with their life...how do you feel about that and what is your
message to those that may disapprove or who are still not very
accepting of the Stoner community?
Rae: It’s very closed-minded to assume that cannabis smokers are
lazy or unmotivated. It’s just a stereotype, and when you look past it,
Hemp Life Magazine: What are some of your hobbies/things you
like to do for fun?
Rae: I’m a lot of things; I work as a financial analyst. My interests
are endless; I can never manage to pick just one thing. Dancing,
reading, weight-lifting, writing, cooking, and cats are all things I’m
passionate about.
Hemp Life Magazine: Any comments, shot outs or last
words? Anything you want to say to the world and/or Stoner
community? Anything you want to touch basis on that we haven't
already?
Rae: Final comments: Our environment is struggling. Hemp has the
potential to save our planet; it was once a staple in American
agriculture. It has the ability to grow and thrive in harsh conditions
and can be manufactured into fabrics, biodegradable plastics, paper
and so much more. Hemp is more than weed, it’s more than THC and
getting high. Hemp has so much potential, it just needs our
understanding and support to bring it back into our culture.
check out your work?
Rae: You can follow me on instagram, if you want to know more
about me, or hear about my upcoming book. @Raenbowww
Rollin’ Dirty…Real Reviews – by Tazzy (Smokers Society)
Macdon - Exclusive Interview
Hemp Life Magazine: Weed + Music = Hemp Life. What does the
statement Hemp Life mean to you and how do you express it in your
everyday life if any?
I'm not a joint roller but found these papers easy to roll. I smoked
one with a crutch and one without. The one with a crutch was rolled
by one of the homey's but to me it smoked better. Joints tend to go
out at times, like the one I rolled lol but the one that had the crutch
smoked nice. It didn't go out and was a pretty consistent
smoke. Overall I can see myself using Rollin' Dirty Rolling Papers
more often because I like the idea of it. 100% Pure Hemp papers
not only promote more healthier smoking, but it's like rolling weed
on top of weed hahaha. Tazzy – Seattle, WA
Macdon: Smoking weed is a tool; it is an entity that actually brings
people together in a positive light. It has been known to be a
substance that puts people in a great space. It enhances your
perception of reality and makes all the grey areas the area to
embrace and pull something from that.
Hemp Life Magazine: Some people may look at those who smoke
pot as unmotivated, a bad person or just someone who is doing
nothing with their life...how do you feel about that and what is your
message to those that may disapprove or who are still not very
accepting of the Stoner community?
Macdon: If you see someone smoking weed and you have something
negative to say you’re a hater! This is a free country…people that
smoke come from all walks of life. Doctors, entertainers, athletes,
strippers, you name it. Even Bill Clinton said he took a pull. It does
have some side effects…I guess that's what made him {excited} all
over Monica Lewinsky's dress.
Hemp Life Magazine: Part of our mission here at Smokers Society
& Hemp Life Magazine is to promote the benefits of Cannabis as
well as create a platform for self-expression. What are some health
benefits that you may have experienced (or heard of) from using
weed?
Macdon: Well one of the health benefits to me is that it gives the user
a platform to be relaxed; to self-medicate and meditate…it's like a
tranquilizer without the needle if you will.
Hemp Life Magazine: Tell us about yourself, what you do and any
upcoming projects we should be checking for.
Macdon: My name is Phillip Barrington aka Macdon the Fifth. I am
an American artist (rapper). I've been rapping for years and have
landed various major label experiences and indie success. I am not
new to this. I've worked with Nas, LL, Pharrell, Uncle Murda, Zodiac
Fishgrease and Fubu ENT. to name a few. I'm versatile and very
opinionated. I get straight to the point. My hometown is Hollis
Queens, New York. I have a single on a compilation LP called Global
Concourse. The single is entitled "Entrepreneurs" on Global Sound/
E-one Entertainment for those who don't know it's the old Koch
records, a very relevant label in the history of Hip hop. The project
was produced by 4th disciple.
King Brand Review by Michelle Luvly
420 Fashion Week will kick off in Seattle on April 17 th and then
again in Portland on April 18 th .
When I saw this on Instagram months ago, I had to try this out for
myself (stating it will increase your smoke sessions up to 5x longer).
Well, most of the time it increased my smoke sessions up to 3x
longer.
I tried this three different ways: smoking with papers, Swisher
Sweets cigarillos, and Dutch Masters cigarillos. You only need to
apply a couple of drops after splitting the bud (halfway of the joint
or blunt). Some of the bud needs to be dry, and some of it needs to
be wet. For the papers (which I use the Rollin Dirty Rolling papers),
it increases my session at least 15 minutes longer than without the
herb enhancer. For the cigarillos, it increases my sessions up to 3x
longer (a good hour). When you smoke with the King Brand, the
herb enhancer doesn't have an after taste which you can enjoy your
smoke and taste of the bud better. I enjoy using the King Brand with
a Vanilla Dutch Masters and some great quality Kush. For new
users of this brand, if your joint or blunt doesn't light up, you put too
much enhancer on the bud. Michelle Luvly, A happy stoner
