Program

Weeks
Our ever popular water weeks feature
kayaking, rafting, and laughing with
Smiling Otter Wilderness Adventures, as
well as educational experiences with the
Streamkeepers. Campers will learn about
water safety and the ecology of our
beautiful lakes and rivers. At the end of the
week, we go on an age-appropriate river
rafting expedition!
Adventure Weeks
Pairing with local guides and instructors,
our Adventure Weeks will be based on
experiental activities out of doors. Biking
and swimming their way through the week,
the kids move towards the end of the camp
with a beautiful hike in our own Valhallas.
Theatre on the Beach
Exploring theatre with Fran Frobb and
Priya Moore. Improvisational games and
activities, prop making and mask making.
With a grand finalé of an invitational
improve hour for family and friends!

Regular days are 10am-3pm, Monday to
Friday. Fees for programs are $90 per child,
per week. For out trips, parents need to
organize pick up and drop off with program
counsellors and sign waivers.

Running Shoes
Children are required to wear runners, not
sandals, as their day often includes a fair
amount of walking. Similarly, a jacket or
sweatshirt is a necessity because of how
quickly the weather can change, and how
windy it is at the Slocan beach.
Out Trips
We will often go out on an adventure with a
guest. Appropriate to the age and weekly
theme, these days may be longer than the
usual camp days and may require some
additional gear. You will be informed in
advance and sent a permission slip to sign
for these events.
More Info
This program is run by three student
counselors, under the supervision of our
staff and adult mentors. Transportation can
be made available for those unable to get
their campers to Slocan.

registration. The participants Code of
Conduct will be followed by all
participants; respect and consideration for
all will be expected. Children will be sent
home if their behaviour is inappropriate or
unsafe for themselves or others.

In consideration of acceptance of my child
in the Fun in the Sun program, I, the
undersigned for myself, my heirs, executors
and administrators, do hereby waive, remit
and release any and all manner of actions,
claims, and demands, which I may have
against the W.E. Graham Community
Service Society and School District #8
(Kootenay Lake) their employees, staff,
agents or representatives. I also accept that
the “Fun in the Sun” staff reserves the right
to decline registrations or ask that children
be sent home for problematic behaviour or
illness.
Emergency Consent Form
I hereby authorize the staff or person(s) in
charge of the “Fun in the Sun” program to
call a physician, take my child to the
nearest emergency treatment centre, or call
an ambulance for emergency medical
treatment of my child, should the staff feel
such services are required. I will be
contacted as soon as possible and advised
of the situation. I agree to incur any costs
arising out of such services required by my
child. (Please sign this consent so that we
can take appropriate action on behalf of
your child. We will take this form with us
to the emergency centre.)
