Over the last 30 years of our presence in India, our company has
played a major role in the transformation of the cities, supporting
the customers with our advanced technologies, expertise and
experience. We are in business of delivering essentials to life to
millions of people, thus it comes with heavy responsibility and
accountability. Any human error can be a catastrophe. We simply
can’t go wrong. To achieve this, our employees work, day in and
out, to ensure everything is in place.
In this context, I would like to highlight the role of our women
employees.Empowering women and achieving gender equality
have been always the priority for SUEZ India BA. What has been
noteworthy is our women’s dedication, zeal and hard work
towards the growth of our organization. While our challenges are
getting bigger every day, our women are emerging even tougher,
taking the lead to wear the hats of most unconventional roles,
rewriting history and creating milestones. Our women have been
at the helm of some of our critical positions – from being plant
managers to customer care center executives handling aggrieved
customers when the city is short of water supply in peak summer
and the list goes on and on.
These spirited young women employees are our inspiration, our
mentors and often at times, solutions.
This book is a very humble attempt to capture the contribution of
some of our women and place on record appreciation and respect
for all of them.

I have always been extremely
passionate about science, nature
and the environment
When she joined SUEZ three
years back, barely she knew this
would be a long term career
plan for her. A graduate in Biotechnology,
Darshana had many
career options but she chose to
stick to environment sector. “I have
always been extremely passionate
about science, nature and the
environment, hence I did my major
in environmental science in the final
year of my course.”
Starting her career in laboratory in
2013, today Darshana is a Process
Engineer at 550 MLD T.K.HalliWater
Treatment Plant (Phase 2) in
Karnataka which caters potable
water to more than 3 million people
in Bangalore. This plant is part of
1550 MLD water treatment facility at
TK Halli Water Works designed, built
and operated by SUEZ.
What excites Darshana most at job
is the exposure to the latest worldclass
technology likeAquaDAF,

Densadag, etc.at SUEZ plants. In
2015, on her visit to a Sewerage
treatment plant in Paris, she was
amazed to see that the technology
used in those plants were same to
those in India.
Darshana believes young
professionals like her must choose
environment as a career option as
there are lot of scope in the sector.
She has successfully motivated
many of her friends to pursue
higher education in environmental
engineering. In future, she would
love to do research and develop
technologies that could bring further
advancement in the water sector.
“At the end of each day I know what it feels like to provide a
service that everyone needs to survive. I always hold my head
high and take pride for choosing this career.”

Technology and Management,who

software engineering companies.

joined SUEZ.”

I believe what matters in the
initial years of your career is
learning and development
Born in a small village in Karnataka,
Smitha wanted to pursue
Engineering course, however, could
not do so due to financial constraint.
Nonetheless, that didn’t deter her
ambition and firm determination
to chase her dreams and she
completed her MSc in Bio-chemistry.
Starting her career from the Cubbon
Park Tertiary Treatment Plant as a
trainee, today she is managing both
Cubbon Park and Lal Bagh Sewerage
Treatment plants with a capacity of
1.5MLD each.
“I believe what matters in the initial
years of career is learning and
development. I am happy that SUEZ
offered me that platform,” says
Smitha. She had participated in
many leadership programs in India
and O&M Day in Paris. Known for her
sincerity and hard work, the plants
managed by herhas always received
accolades equally from the client as
well as the visitors for its operation

and maintenance.
Smitha believes her work is quite
inspiring as it is directly contributing
to the environment of her city and
well-being of society. Cubbon Park
plant produces quality water that
is being used for the maintenance
of the park. Happy with the
performance, the client has given the
task of upgradation of the plant to 4
MLD to SUEZ.
Living with her parents in Bangalore,
she is proud to take care of her
family and feels great that women
are no less when it comes to
contributing to the family, profession
and society.

contribution to the environment of my city and the well-being
of my society”

It is necessary that
we look at the issues
from customers’
perspective.
Working at Customer Care Center
for Malviya Nagar Water Services,
Seema and Pinky, two young
executives, are determined to uphold
SUEZ’s reputation, come what may.
Their roles have been critical for
the success of the project that has
improved the water distribution and
customers’ service in Malviya Nagar
UGR Command Area in New Delhi.
While their routine job include
receiving payments, registering
complaints, sharing information
related to various services, there are
occasions, for instance during peak
summer, when the city goes through
acute shortage of water supply,
Seema, Pinky and their colleagues
have to face aggrieved customers
who often put their endless patience
to test.
“It is necessary that we must look
at the issues from the customers’
perspective. Then only it becomes
easier to handle”, says Seema.

with patience, compassion and
in a way so as to make them feel
welcome and valued. “It feels good
when customers recall your name
and recognize the good service you
provided them during their last
visit. Appreciation is after all so
motivating,” says Pinky.
Originally hailing from Uttarakhand,
Seema is a BBA from Indraprastha
University and would like to pursue
MBA in future. Pinky wants to
continuously contribute to improve
customer service systems, policies,
processes and technology based
on her day-to-day experience at
the Center to further enhance the
customer experience.
