I deem it a pleasure, as 1st Vice President of the Guild of Students of
this institution, to submit my message through the medium of the
school pictorial magazine. I extend honor to the most high God who has
granted us life and has given us this privilege to complete such a task. I
want to also extend sincere congratulations to the pictorial committee
which includes lecturers, guild members and students, for its successful
completion of this project.
This year the Moneague College celebrates its 60th Anniversary,
governed by the theme ‘Embracing Change: Soaring to the New
Heights”. As I reflect on the past and look to the future I must say we
have achieved much, not only at our College but also as a nation. The
60th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Year Book which is manned by
the executive guild of students is a sign that marks our growth and
aspirations.
The academic school year 2015-2016 was a challenging, but successful
one. Clearly, we have proved the Biblical pronouncement true ‘I can do
all things through Christ who strengthens me’. Students, here at the
Moneague College, you have been taught well and are armed with the
necessary skills, attitudes and attributes needed in the world of work to
execute the tasks ahead.
Students, you will make mistakes, but learn from them whilst dealing
with the consequences. From here on, whatever you do will confirm
the extent of your integration and reflect your value system, hence, let
us reproduce positive values as The Moneague College “caters to all
students near and far, multi- disciplined in scope she is a star, as we try
to give our very best and such is our founder’s request”. The Moneague
College, as well as, the powerful lessons learnt and the teachings of the
Bible, will serve you well.
Fellow students, I charge you be strong and courageous as the Bible
declares “Above All, Put God First in all you do”. May the God of Heaven
Bless you All.
Steve Jobs arguably one of the most remarkable visionaries of the twentyfirst
century, commented at an Apple shareholders meeting, “We believe
that people with passion can change the world for better.”
This year we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Moneague
College Existence. This enigma of strength can point with pride from its
Staff, supported by the Guild of Students 2015-2016, that we have and still
passionately devoted our lives to making Jamaica and the world at large
a better place. This, we achieve by empowering our students with the
knowledge and skills they will need for meaningful work and service.
I can recall the first time I entered the gates of the Moneague College,
fresh from high school, I was suddenly impaled at the surrounding and
the warm greetings from the staff and students. I was enrolled in the
Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, where I successfully
completed my Bachelors of Science degree. Throughout the 4 years,
whilst living on campus, I was equipped by the supportive auxiliary and
academic staff, on how to display professionalism and standard quality
service.
During my tenure, the road wasn’t easy, but through faith, consistency,
hard work and God as my guide, I overcame. “With God in the vessel you
can smile at any storm” this was my motivation. Hence, failure was not an
option.
In closing, serving students well require all of us, regardless of our roles
and titles, to share in the essential work that changes lives and makes
the world a more meaningful and better place. Alone we can do so little;
together we can do so much.
I implore to you, make the Moneague College your choice for success
today. One of the famous quotes “if you waah good, yuh nose haffi run”
sheds light on the fact that nothing comes easy but with dedication,
commitment and perseverance Success is a Must.
Best regards
