at Amway. We congratulate you and are<br />

proud of all the enthusiasm and effort<br />

that you have put in to the past year. The<br />

<strong>2016</strong> performance year was a great success<br />

with strong sales growth and an even<br />

stronger number of qualifiers! Each of you<br />

contributed to this success in some form<br />

and I want to personally thank you for<br />

your contributions to a fantastic year. And what a year it was…..We had the amazing<br />

Baltic Sea Super Trip, the vibrant Achievers Hong Kong, and Amway LIVE and Vibe<br />

events across Australia and New Zealand. The 2017 performance year promises to be<br />

equally exciting with the upcoming Achievers in Hawaii, the start of the New York<br />

– Bermuda Super Trip and Achievers Penang qualification, and the Busan Diamond<br />

event. We hope to see you qualify for at least one of our incentive trips in this new year<br />

Welcome to the New Qualification Year<br />

The start of the new qualification year always<br />

brings with it a fresh start. It’s a chance to assess<br />

the year before and look for ways to improve.<br />

It provides an opportunity to set new goals<br />

and map out a strategy to meet them.<br />

Just like you, the overall Amway business continues to look at<br />

what we’re doing that works and what doesn’t. We’re all about<br />

helping you – the IBO – <strong>achieve</strong> what you set out to when you<br />

<strong>dec</strong>ided to join the business. Some of you have set your sights<br />

high – building businesses that will last generations. Most<br />

of you however, want to earn extra income to help provide<br />

stronger financial security.<br />

Our job is to recognise the various goals our distributors<br />

have and find ways to help you succeed. This includes<br />

creating incentives like Amway’s 60th anniversary in Las<br />

Vegas. It means being faster at responding to consumer<br />

trends, new technology and your needs; finding more and<br />

better ways to give you the experience you and others are<br />

looking for, and strengthening our partnerships so we can<br />

provide the best support, training and community to help<br />

you grow and succeed.<br />

know we’re thinking about it too. We know you have options<br />

The Power Of Sleep!<br />

Sleep plays a vital role in the physical and psychological<br />

repair of the body and mind. The amount of sleep required<br />

depends on the individual, but the recommended amount<br />

for an adult is around 7-8 hours per night to wake up feeling<br />

rested and recharged.<br />

Each of us have experienced the negative effects that lack of<br />

sleep can have on our bodies. These can include feelings of<br />

lethargy, moodiness, negative thoughts, memory loss and can<br />

also lead to overeating and obesity. When our bodies have<br />

not been sufficiently repaired, the hormone that stimulates<br />

our appetite called ‘ghrelin’ is released, which makes us<br />

crave foods rich in fat and carbohydrates. In addition to this<br />

increase in ghrelin, is a reduction in the satiety-inducing<br />

hormone called ‘leptin’ which tells us when our body feels<br />

full. The domino effect of sleep deprivation can also result in<br />

<strong>dec</strong>reased physical activity as we have less energy during the<br />

day for exercise and tend to spend more time in front of the<br />

television and resting.<br />

The physical repair that takes place when we sleep assists<br />

in repairing our bodies at a cellular level to help strengthen<br />

our immunity and ability to stay healthy. Our cardiovascular<br />

system is constantly under pressure and sleep helps to reduce<br />

the levels of stress and inflammation in the body which may<br />

have a positive impact on your heart health.<br />

The InBody Band included in the BodyKey ® program is an<br />

ideal way to monitor your sleep patterns. The InBody Band<br />

automatically starts tracking your sleep if there has been 10<br />

also got to see the beautiful city via the legendary<br />

14km course, which has been the same route<br />

Amway One by One has supported the neediest of causes actively over<br />

the years, especially those relating to children. From Sunday, 24 July to<br />

Saturday, 30 July, Amway One by One continued this support by helping raise<br />

awareness and funds for Bear Cottage, through its participation<br />

in Superhero Week.<br />

Bear Cottage is only one among two children’s hospices<br />

in Australia, a place which provides vital support,<br />

respite and end-of-life care for children with terminal<br />

illnesses and their families.<br />

Amway IBOs rallied together to help support<br />

the silent Superheros of Bear Cottage -<br />

the nurses and volunteers who provide<br />

outstanding care and immeasurable comfort,<br />

the families who keep finding strength in the<br />

face of adversity and the very brave children<br />

patients, for whom every day is a battle<br />

against the odds.<br />

Amway One by One, in support of<br />

Superhero Week, donated $3,000 in<br />

addition to the $3485 raised through<br />

Superhero Week initiatives.<br />

and is designed to keep the baby warm and safe.<br />

The Panda bed is state of the art and is very<br />

easy to access for the nursing and medical staff<br />

attending to the baby, with a capacity to provide<br />

overhead and base plate heating. The majority<br />

of the 600 plus babies admitted annually, will<br />

benefit from the purchase of this equipment.<br />

Roland Mak was a busy businessman when he<br />

and Carol were introduced to the Amway business.<br />

He quickly realised it was a more sustainable<br />

business and would allow him to spend more time<br />

with his family.<br />

“I love sharing the Amway business with others,<br />

especially young people. Young people are very<br />

energetic and always looking for opportunities.<br />

Since the business is not capital based, it’s an<br />

affordable opportunity for them,” said Roland.<br />

Plus he and Carol love the overseas travel, saying<br />

the trips have been incredible.<br />

They motivate their downline by arranging XS<br />

parties and ARTISTRY beauty workshops. “We<br />

encourage our IBOs to participate in organising<br />

the events. My team loves getting together and<br />

solving problems.”<br />

He believes the key to their success is working<br />

within a specific time frame. “I always set a<br />

deadline for my goals and check my progress on<br />

a regular basis. If I’m far behind my goal after a<br />

period of time, I’ll work even harder to complete it<br />

before the deadline,” said Roland.<br />

“Our advice to new IBOs is the Amway business is<br />

not perfect but it’s the best we’ve seen because<br />

it doesn’t require big capital, only an investment<br />

of your time. If a new IBO understands a business<br />

takes time to be profitable, they won’t give up on<br />

this great opportunity,” said Roland and Carol.<br />

“We both started our Amway business as singles<br />

with a desire to create financial independence. We<br />

met at an Amway meeting and have been married for<br />

eleven years, with 2 children aged 8 and 6 years,”<br />

dreams. Build your confidence in the products by<br />

using them first. Understand how the marketing<br />

plan works, find a mentor that can guide you along<br />

advice Allan and Jenny give to new IBOs.<br />

“We were inspired by our uplines as they created<br />

financial success for themselves simply by building<br />

their Amway business,” said Allan.<br />

Daniel Chan & Geraldine Sim<br />

Daniel Chan and Geraldine Sim have five<br />

children aged between 5 and 16 years. Before<br />

discovering Amway, they worked different jobs<br />

and ran businesses in creative industries.<br />

They craved work-life balance, security and<br />

results which were lacking in their business and<br />

corporate world.<br />

After several wake-up calls, one in which Daniel<br />

was made redundant twice in the same year,<br />

they <strong>dec</strong>ided to focus their attention on their<br />

Amway business.<br />

“We weren’t initially convinced Amway was the<br />

solution. It was a period of continuous exposure<br />

to the products, a commitment to learning<br />

new skills, and our upline team’s belief in us<br />

that enabled us to understand the potential of<br />

creating an asset-based income with Amway,”<br />

said the couple.<br />

Their advice to new IBOs is to deliberately make<br />

the space in life to build this business. “Put<br />

some things aside for a season to focus on<br />

securing the future, and then return to those<br />

things when the job is done. The rewards are<br />

real, and are worth fighting for, because dreams<br />

do come true,” they said.<br />

Yip Wai Lun & Chang Mei Lien<br />

Andrew and Rachel joined Amway in 2014.<br />

“We were attracted to the business opportunity<br />

because of the fundamentals of family and<br />

freedom,” said Andrew and Rachel.<br />

“We started sharing XS energy drinks with our<br />

friends, they all loved it because it tasted good.<br />

Then we showed them the business behind the<br />

products. We held XS parties and invited our<br />

friends and prospects to show them Amway can<br />

be a fun business,” said Andrew.<br />

“Facing rejections was the most challenging part<br />

of building our business. But we kept focusing<br />

on sponsoring and selling and less people<br />

rejected us. I believe we’ve developed better<br />

communication skills by talking to more people<br />

and it is why we’ve been successful,” they said.<br />

“We’ve learnt to overcome difficulties and<br />

gained confidence to build a sustainable and<br />

profitable business because Amway is a great<br />

global company which gives a lot of rewards and<br />

incentives. Since we are students, we couldn’t<br />

afford to travel, we have more opportunities now<br />

to have awesome travel experiences.”<br />

Thidarat Chinchairat & William Hardy<br />

Thidarat and William found that setting goals and<br />

good communication with their team members<br />

and leaders has been crucial to their success in<br />

qualifying for Platinum.<br />

“I had to believe in myself, believe in my team<br />

and stay focused on my goal and dream. I also try<br />

to inspire my team to set their goals and <strong>achieve</strong><br />

them,” said Thidarat. She said they initially<br />

started building the business by telling people<br />

about their product experiences and when they<br />

showed interest, Thidarat told them about the<br />

Amway opportunity.<br />

“We had the attitude of never giving up and to keep<br />

learning. We believe in big thinking, being positive<br />

and in having a great attitude,” said the couple.<br />

Their advice for other IBOs is to use and love<br />

the products, learn about the Amway Sales &<br />

Marketing Plan so you have the confidence to<br />

share it with others. “Don’t stop learning, attend<br />

meetings, read the books and set monthly goals<br />

with your upline.”<br />

Dipak & Megha Chaudhary<br />

As a new immigrant I was struggling to find a job<br />

as a pharmacist. Initially, I joined Amway to try it<br />

for 90 days and ended up staying. That’s the best<br />

gift I could have received for my family and me.<br />

I wasn’t good at talking to people before I started<br />

my business. By reading books, associating with<br />

my uplines and listening to training materials I<br />

improved on my skills. Skill development should be<br />

a number one priority for any IBO.<br />

We reached Platinum by setting goals,<br />

making action plans and focusing on personal<br />

development. Improving leadership skills and<br />

helping others is the top priority. I aim to invest<br />

time, effort and resources in my team members.<br />

What I got from Amway I can’t buy with money.<br />

Health, true friends, personal development, peace<br />

of mind, security and fun. The product quality is<br />

also excellent.<br />

My advice is to give your 100% till you succeed.<br />

Junior & Liva Lam<br />

Junior and Liva Lam joined Amway in 2009 and said<br />

it took them three tries before they <strong>dec</strong>ided to really<br />

give the business a go. They credit the business for<br />

changing their lives for the better.<br />

“We know this business is a vehicle to make<br />

your dreams come true and it gives us options,<br />

hope, choices even though we don’t have formal<br />

qualifications,” said the couple.<br />

For Junior, it’s also a chance to gain financial<br />

freedom and the couple have their sights set firmly<br />

on this goal. Every Sunday night, they schedule<br />

phone call sessions with their team to track<br />

everyone’s progress. “In the mornings, I email<br />

my team to make sure no one is missing out on<br />

promotions,” said Liva.<br />

“Success is inside of you. Get out of your comfort<br />

zone, be a new person and do things differently.<br />

If you really want to be successful, then it’s up to<br />

you,” said Junior.<br />

Phan Nguyen & Belinda Doan<br />

Phan Nguyen knew it was a great opportunity to<br />

have his own business when a friend introduced<br />

him to Amway in 2014. He was 18 years old and<br />

had just finished high school.<br />

“I was excited to be in business for myself and<br />

so was Belinda when I told her about it,” said<br />

Phan. Plus the low startup cost with flexible hours,<br />

the ability to inspire others to be in business for<br />

themselves is why they joined.<br />

“We’ve had our business for over 2 years and<br />

recently qualified for the Achievers trip to Hawaii.<br />

Plus having access to world-class products to<br />
