We’ve had a pleasing start but it will take
4 or 5 rounds to unfold before we get a
picture of League 1 but I’m delighted with
the character our lads have shown. To still
be in both Cups is unchartered waters for
me plus a good win over the neighbours
is always pleasing. However, we are work
in progress but progress is happening and
I am proud of the players and the positive
start is fantastic for our confidence. The
pleasing aspect is seeing game plans being
delivered, we‘ve performed in poor playing
conditions and it bodes well. Mentally we are
maturing steadily.
We have a start to build upon, growing
self belief and trust in one another. This is
from honest, hard work and desire from the
squad and staff. We will stay grounded and
today will be a stern test against a strong
professional team who were playing in the
Championship last season. “Worky’s” desire
and ambition will be to bounce back up
quickly and they will be highly motivated for
our first meeting.
we’re on. In a Semi Pro league situations
occur, be it for work or family commitments
that crop up so we need teammates to step
in knowing the task and the job they have to
do. We’re trying to build that depth and as a
group hold that ethos. For the staff it’s great
working with that mind set.
It’s good to see new and familiar faces at
the games to date and I hope the numbers
continue to build. The Junior Supporters
mascots have brought a good family
atmosphere and Lewis and Megan have
enjoyed their appearances a lot I believe
and we are very pleased to have mascots
involved.

I expect a tough rugged game from them as
they have a good blend of experience and
young talent. They are a true 80 minute side
as their two close games with Newcastle
Thunder indicate so far this season.
We’ve had weddings, illness and injuries to
contend with so far and that’s why we have
a squad. If I have learned anything over the
last couple of years it is that it is not a 17
man game, it’s a full united squad journey
