Dr. Ali A. Houshmand
Dr. Ali A. Houshmand, a well-respected academic
administrator, has been a Boyds customer for eight
years. He appreciates the variety and quality of
clothing available at Boyds and finds the “time spent and
attention to detail by the fitters and tailors very unique.”
Lydie Szabo Brown
“Style equals individuality,” so says Lydie
Szabo Brown (aka Mrs. de Janosi) and she walks
the talk. In describing her style, Lydie said,
“Classic with a modern overlay of her own, that’s
inspired by the style of Jackie O. and Audrey Hepburn.”

It’s always fun to shop
with her at Boyds.”
Dr. Houshmand describes his style as “modern
unique, using colors to create contrast or harmony
while finding a balance so he appears age appropriate.”
For the last three years, Dr. Houshmand has been
consulting with Bill Bolling at Boyds (a sales associate
for 39 years). Bill recognizes his taste and has built a
relationship based on the time and effort spent
getting to know and understand him. In his
first interaction with Bill, Dr. Houshmand
appreciated that he was customer service
oriented, while giving him space to explore on his own.
On his off hours, you’ll find Dr. Houshmand
running or cooking using his famous hot
sauce that is sold with proceeds benefiting a
collegiate scholarship. He is affiliated with many
charities. He’s the husband of Farah (a Boyds
customer) and they are the parents of a 30-year-old
daughter (also a Boyds customer) and a 28-year-old son.
We thank him for his contribution to the
community and for his continued patronage.
Lydie has been a dedicated Boyds shopper for
24 years. In fact, when she first shopped the
newly founded women’s department, Ramonita
Farnesi (Boyds sales associate for 24 years) was the
only salesperson in the department! Since then, the
relationship has grown into a true friendship.
“Ramonita becomes best friends with her customers--
she always smiles, never pressures me to buy.”
Lydie looks forward to Ramonita’s calls about new
arrivals that might fit her unique style.
Although growing up in upstate PA, Lydie came to
Philadelphia after attending law school in Ohio. She
currently works in private investments at the Sarr
Group, and is married with two sons. Her husband and
both sons are also loyal Boyds shoppers. She also has
a philanthropic side, supporting PAFA, SPCA,
Cancer Support Community of Philadelphia
and is also involved with The Academy Ball.
We salute Lydie’s sense of style and her
individuality, and are honored to have her as such a
loyal client, with unwavering support of Ramonita.
