A workshop focused on the utilization of <strong>USP</strong> <strong>Apparatus</strong> 4 used in Pharmaceutical Formulation,<br />
Development and Quality Control Laboratories for in-vitro drug release testing. Learn from<br />
experts using the Flow-Through Dissolution Method and hear what’s new in <strong>USP</strong> 4 solutions and<br />
applications for a variety of different dosage forms.<br />
<strong>USP</strong> <strong>Apparatus</strong> 4 known as the Flow Through Dissolution Method is used for a wide range of dosage forms<br />
and applications including tablets, capsules, poorly soluble APIs, granules, beads, API characterization,<br />
IVIVC studies, soft gels and suppositories, suspensions, lipidic formulations, implants, medical devices,<br />
drug elution studies from stents, parental formulations such as microspheres, nanoparticles, liposomes<br />
and more.<br />

Diane J. Burgess, Ph.D.<br />
Dr. Burgess is Professor of Pharmaceutics at the University of Connecticut, Storrs where she runs a<br />
multidisciplinary laboratory with research efforts focussed on drug delivery systems including microspheres,<br />
emulsions, liposomes, hydrogels, and novel coatings for implantable devices. She consults for pharmaceutical,<br />
food, cosmetic and other engineering industries on issues related to dispersed systems, in vitro release testing,<br />
IVIVC and interfacial chemistry. Dr Burgess was past president of AAPS in 2002 and CRS in 2010. She is<br />
currently a member of the <strong>USP</strong> Biopharmaceutics Expert committee and the <strong>USP</strong> Advisory Panel on Injectables.<br />
Eric BEYSSAC, Ph. D<br />
Dr. Beyssac is Professor of Pharmaceutics at the Université d’Auvergne, Clermont-Ferrand, France. Dr Beyssac<br />
has extensive academic and industrial expertise in the use of <strong>USP</strong> <strong>Apparatus</strong> 4. He is currently co-director<br />
of the research group CIDAM “Conception, Ingénierie et Développement de l’Aliment et du Medicament”<br />
(Conception, Engineering and Development of Food and Drug). He has authored more than 25 publications<br />
in various national and international journals. His research interests include IVIVC, sustained release drug<br />
dosage form development, and in vitro dissolution.<br />
Samir Haddouchi<br />
Mr. Haddouchi is Project Manager at SPS Pharma Services. SPS is a contract lab dedicated to dissolution<br />
testing and method development with a special focus on <strong>USP</strong> <strong>Apparatus</strong> 4. Mr Haddouchi has worked on<br />
numerous projects releated to in-vitro drug release testing and has used <strong>USP</strong> 4 for more than 20 years. He<br />
acts as the in-house <strong>SOTAX</strong> expert on <strong>USP</strong> 4 related applications.<br />

(I-90 West- Mass Pike) From the airport, follow the signs to I 90 (Mass Pike). Continue to follow the signs<br />
to I-90 West . Stay on I-90 (28.6 miles) to Route 495 South (Exit 11A). Follow Route 495 South 3.4 miles to<br />
Exit 21A, Main Street, Hopkinton. When you come off of Exit 21A, at the first traffic light take a left onto<br />
Lumber Street extension. Turn right into the Caliper Life Sciences/<strong>SOTAX</strong> Building 1 visitor’s parking lot.<br />
Drive time is approximately 45 minutes.<br />
