BUSH BABIES: HONOURING OUR NOONGAR ELDERS
FREE
ARTS
This portrait exhibition coordinated
by Community Arts Network WA
(CAN WA) celebrates the strength
and resilience of 16 Noongar
elders from across the Wheatbelt.
The elders are part of CAN WA’s
Bush Babies community arts
project, which captures the stories
of Noongar babies who were born
at a time when Aboriginal people
were subject to tight government
controls and not
permitted to live
in towns or cities.
These stories provide an insight into
a part of our nation’s history that
often goes unheard or untold.
