Nine summer season travel tips
How to survive your journey
Whether you’re flying for business, pleasure or
even mixing the two, Starpoint is working hard to
ensure a seamless journey wherever you are
heading. However, with thousands more
passengers flying at the same time via our
network during the peak season, we have some
tips to make your journey as smooth as possible.
1. Leave enough time
Know the minimum checkin
time and factor in longer
waiting times at security, so
you’ll arrive at the gate
before check in closes.
2. Know your way
Arriving at the wrong
terminal – or even airport –
for your flight can be easily
avoided. Go online on our
app and find the airport
you’ll be traveling to.
3. Check for tags
Those easily-missed, small
stickers featuring barcodes
or a series of numbers can
confuse airport scanners,
ultimately making the
difference between arriving
with or without your
luggage. Remove any old
ones before you take off.
4. Name it
Including flight details,
destination and phone
number on your checked-in
luggage makes it easier for
us to reunite you with your
bags in the unfortunate
event you arrive without
them. To avoid taking the
wrong bag off the carousel, a
bright ribbon, luggage tag or
colored strap makes your
luggage more identifiable.
5. Know what to take
Depending on what routing,
Starpoint Titanium and
Diamond frequent flyers
have an extra baggage
allowance of 10kg and
20kg, respectively, or one
additional bag in case of
the piece concept
6. Valuable advice
Keep your passport close
to you and don’t forget …
✈
To find out how
Starpoint can
help make your
journey smoother
and more
enjoyable visit
starpoint.com
… items such as money
and electronic devices at
security. And pack
prescribed medication and
valuables in your carry-on,
not your checked bags.
7. Size matters
If you don’t want to check it
in, make sure your bag
meets our airline carry-on
restrictions.
8. Take your time
Sometimes, delays are
simply unavoidable. But
they have benefits, too. A
longer connection time
increases your chances of
catching your next flight.
And bags are more likely to
make it, too.
9. Know where you go
The Starpoint app has
thousands of travel tips
submitted by other
globetrotters. You can find
out how to pass the arrivals
or het go downtown sooner.
So, before your next trip,
check our checklist and just
follow our simple steps to
help ensure a smooth and
seamless journey!
Favorite dishes
The cuisine of Curacao is a flavorful mix of Dutch, African
and Indonesian food. In Curacao we love the eat fish and
meat with rice or Funchi. Our local food is based on
slavery. Slaves of the past used to get Funchi every day to
eat. Funchi is a very heavy meal. Also known dishes in
Curacao are the Jambo. Jambo is a soup made of
seafood and cactus. Bonchi is a bean soup with sausages
Another place to visit in Miami is South
Netherlands borders to Belgium to the south, Germany to the East and the North Sea
to the northwest. The country has three big cities, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The
Hague. Amsterdam is the capital of the country and The Hague holds the Dutch seat
of parliament and government. The
Netherlands is always known as Holland, that
informally refers to the whole country.
Only 50% of the country is one meter above
sea level, The Netherlands literally means
‘lower countries’. The Netherlands is the
second-largest exporter of food and other
products in the world.
The Netherlands is also known for its social
tolerance. It is a liberal country, it has
legalized abortion, euthanasia, prostitution
and the use of the drugs marihuana. The
Netherlands also was the first country in the
world to legalize same-sex marriage in 2001.
Red Lights
Canals
Amsterdam
Amsterdam is the capital city of The Netherlands and is
located in the west of the country. It is one of the most
popular destinations of Europe and therefore it’s always
crowded with tourists. It is well known for its coffee shops,
the red light district, the night life, the museums, the Anne
Frank House, Madam Tussauds and the many eating and
drinking places. It is also called ‘The gay capital of
Europe’ and has a gay parade every summer where in
people get dressed up and get on boats in the canals.
It is a wonderful city with a mix of historic and modern
architecture. There are so many things to do, the city
never sleeps and will never be boring.
The Hague
The Hague
The Hague is the capital of the province of
South Holland. The Hague is the seat of the
Dutch government and is the third largest city
in The Netherlands.
The city has many monuments, historic
districts and is located near the beautiful North
Sea coastline. This makes it such an
extraordinary city. There are so many things to
do and to see in The Hague. You can go to
Madurodam and see the miniature Holland,
visit the beach, get on a boat and go through
the canals or visit other touristic highlights.
One thing is clear, The Hague is a wonderful
city and is worth a visit.
Rotterdam
Rotterdam is the second largest city
located in South Holland. Rotterdam is
the home of the largest cargo port in
Europe and the 10 th largest in the world.
This has given Rotterdam the nickname
´Gateway to Europe´. Recently
Rotterdam was listed eight in The Rough
Guide Top 10 Cities to visit and was
voted European City of the Year in 2015.
Markthal
Rotterdam is a great city for shopping.
There are a lot of shopping streets such
as the Lijnbaan, the Hoogstraat, the
Coolsingel and the Kruiskade. The
Kruiskade is known for some more
expensive shops. There is also a place
called ´Koopgoot´ which basically means
shopping gutter. All the
streets are near each other for a great
shop experience.
Blijdorp
Ahoy
Not only is Rotterdam a great shopping city but it is also a very cultural city.
Rotterdam was called the Capital of Culture in 2001. There are several theaters and
concert buildings to find in Rotterdam to enjoy some music. There also is a very big
zoo in the middle of Rotterdam called Diergaarde Blijdorp. A side from this
Rotterdam has a great night life, a lot of summer festivals and great places to drink or
eat. There is the International Film Festival in January, the North Sea Jazz Festival in
July, the Poetry International Festival in June and the World of Witte de With in
September.
There is a little competition
between Rotterdam and
Amsterdam, which one of the cities
is viewed as the cultural capital of
The Netherlands. But also
because of the competition
between their soccer team
Feyenoord Rotterdam and Ajax
Amsterdam. People also say
´Money is earned in Rotterdam,
distributed in The Hague and spent
in Amsterdam. By that they mean
that Amsterdam is the city to party,
The Hague to live and Rotterdam
to work.
De kuip
Rotterdam was also bombarded in
world war two. The city completely
burned down. Only a few building
wasn’t bombarded and survived
the war. One example is the city
hall. This building wasn’t
bombarded because files of the
residents were kept here. The
Germans wanted these in their
pursue of the jews.
Music Sounds like music to my ears
Ed Sheeran - Divide Pop
Ed Sheeran is our lovely guitar playing boy that creates songs
that will make you sing out loud. His new album that launched in
2017 is a big hit! Songs like ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Galway Girl’ will
make you dance your butt off!
Beyoncé - Lemonade Pop, R&B, Rap.
Beyoncé did it again and created an album we all love. Songs
with deep lyrics and heart melting stories. She put her stories on
paper and sang them for you. You will be certain that a song that
you like will carry you away. (Ours is Sandcastles)
Lady Gaga - Joanne Pop, Country.
Lady Gaga is back again with her new pop album Joanne. The
crazy gaga we know has toned down a bit and created this
mellow and country like album. With numbers as ‘John Wayne’
and ‘Perfect Illusion’ crazy gaga lives on.
The Chainsmokers - Paris Pop
The Chainsmokers have hit it again with their hit single Paris.
Their unique beat and easy listening voice is very catchy. Next to
this song other songs like ‘Don’t let me down’ and ‘Something just
like this featuring Coldplay’ are also available.
Horoscopes
Aries 21 March – April 21
General
It promises to be a good day, the stars are at your side.
Leave all the stress behind and try to get some rest while
getting away. Do what you do and wait for good things to
happen.
Love
You’re lucky if you are single, you will meet someone
special real soon. Let it come to you. It’s important not to
look for it.
If you are in a relation, try to give your partner some space
to let them breath. It is unhealthy to feel suffocated in a
relation. Spend some time apart and your band will even be
stronger.
Finance
Try to watch your wallet. There could be some unexpected
expanses in the future, but it’s nothing you can’t handle.
Just don’t overspend.
Taurus 21 April – May 21
General
You have been very stressed out lately and are ready to go
away for a while. Try not to run away for your problems and
face them. You can put your problems on hold, but you
can’t run from them. Remember that every ride comes but
with some bumps on the road, that’s just life.
Love
The single life suits you well and you aren’t planning on
getting together with someone anytime soon. But there is
someone around the corner who is very interested in you.
Try to open your eyes and you just might like what you’ll
find.
For people in relationships, everything is going well. You
and your partner are happy in the place that you are in. But
try not to take your loved one for granted. A relationship is
work and won’t always be easy. Try always to remember
how much you appreciate your partner and let them know
that every once in a while.
Finance
You are doing well in the finance scene lately, Taurus. You
had some good fortune for quite some time now. Try not to
get wrapped around in it. Remember where you come from,
money isn’t everything in life.
67

Gemini May 21 – June 21
General
You are likely to have a great time this season. Things may
will go down in your social scene, but it will bring you closer
to people instead of pull you apart. Be spontaneous and do
random things, good things will happen to you and you will
make some great memories.
Love
You are not going to get very far in your love life if you can’t
tolerate your own emotions. Get your things together,
Gemini. There is nothing wrong with being single, let love
come your way.
If you are in a relationship be careful, you don’t want to pick
fights that no one will win. Ask yourself if there is any
reason why you are so annoyed. Remember why you fell in
love with your partner in the first place and you will be fine.
Finance
If you want to go on a nice vacation you should start saving.
Sometimes you need to work harder to achieve what you
want.
Cancer June 22 – July 21
General
Your deep friendships may be on a bit of a rocky road right
now. Try to pay more attention to the people around you.
They might need you even though they won’t always admit
to that. The next upcoming weeks could be great, but it
depends on you to make them fun.
Love
Someone new is likely to enter your life soon. You’ve been
single for some time now and it might be a good step to
love someone again.
If you are in a relationship it’s heading towards the right
direction. It is time for the next step, your partner has been
thinking about it but hasn’t talked about it out in the open.
Maybe you should.
Finance
You might had a rough road, but don’t worry, good times
are coming. You will soon be well balanced in the finance
scene once again.
68

Leo July 23 – Augustus 22
General
There is a good flow going on in your life lately that you are
likely to be taking advantage of. Go deeper in your comfort
zone and you will experience some great things. Life is
good and you will notice it this month.
Love
It is a spectacular time for love and your single self will be
noticing that. Date a little, live a little, let yourself do fun
things. The single life is great, take advantage of that fact.
Your relationship might have been not that great lately, but
don’t be freaked out. Good things between you and your
partner are bound to happen. You love each other for good
reasons, don’t forget about that.
Finance
It Is time to live. You have saved a lot lately and now it is
time to spend. You deserve it, go and have fun. Money
can’t buy happiness, but it can give you the opportunity for
some great experiences.
Virgo August 23 – September 22
General
Don’t be scared to share your feelings with the people you
love, Virgo. You won’t bother them, and you are not making
things easier for yourself by letting your feelings bubbling
within you. You made some bad memories lately, but relax.
Everything will be great again soon, just give it time.
Love
You are keeping a distance between you and a special
someone, because you are afraid to get hurt again. The
most courage’s thing you will ever do is love again. Every
experience will make you stronger, so let yourself be free
from being scared.
Your relationship is about to come to an end. If this is not
what you want, you should take action. Remember why you
love each other. Buy your partner a gift, show that you
appreciate what your partner does for you.
Finance
Try not to spend your savings all in once. You might will
have some unexpected costs and you want to be ahead of
them.
69

Libra 24 September - 23 October
General
You can count today on a lot of attention and interest of
others. Shy as you are right now is not going to make you
enjoy it, but the advice is: do it anyway!
Today you can also your put friendships under a magnifying
glass. It is actually not about the people you know by heart
but your nearest and dearest. There may be secretly
surprising conclusions coming true.
Love
This is going to be a year, where the love is highlighted and
that applies not only to the Libras that already have a
relationship. For singles, there are several possibilities
waiting. It is simply a question how to discover who will be
the true love, where there will be a long relationship starting
with.
Finance
Major financial obstacles as surprises are not coming in any
way. It is recommended that you to spare some money and
spend less. Always keep some money behind. There is
always something that needs to be replaced. Than it is
satisfying to pay it directly.
Scorpio 24 October - 22 November
General
This day is a good time to take a break and relax again
before you continue with a new adventure. Improve your
views and conflicts will resolve themselves. There is a
creative mood in the air. This is the time to keep you busy
with art. Make space in your agenda for the artistic side of
life. It would be a waste if there is no art on this day. So
forward, and GO!
Love
Do not listen to the advice of others, but only to the voice of
your heart! It is important now to be hesitant. You should
spend time with your friend in a quiet relaxed atmosphere.
You should ignore the distracting feeling, that you are
having now...
Finance
The Scorpion likes the financial in order and to have
enough space to do spontaneous spending. That works
again this year, because the incomes continue to be higher.
70

Sagittarius 23 November - 21 December
General
Did the period that passed change the way home and
family? Have you processed your childhood traumas and
did you learn new lessons in the way of love? Then you
may say that you are ready to start the next chapter in your
life. All you have done lately seemed to fail, no matter what
you tried to do to solve it. That phase is over. It does not
mean that problems suddenly get a nice end, but you can
start with some new.
Love
Feelings of belonging be strengthened by a shared moment
with your partner. It is to keep each other attracted. In your
relationships, the material side should be currently less
important to you..
Finance
On some people, your way of action will look strange. You
will have to show a lot of courage and conviction. You will
have visitors, and that has financial consequences. Relax,
you do not need to be active all day, but surrender more to
your free hours.
Capricorn 22 December - 20 January
General
Clean out your House and make a good cleaning in the
importance of the general hygiene. Reorganize closets and
rooms so you can work more powerfully. Call the dump
tomorrow to pick up stuff of the bulky waste. You'll be very
satisfied tonight. Today is a wonderful productive moodday.
Make sure you get for each other as much as possible
today, because tomorrow it switches to the focus on love
and lust and then you have a little less interest in to-do-lists.
Love
The time of inner chaos is over. Positive developments:
your secretly cherished wishes are coming true! Your life is
a bit upside down. Unfortunately, not all will be succeed
today..
Finance
Write down everything and share everything in the financial
field. An accident will create the confusion. The next few
days you will be able to see the sunny side of everything
again and a little happier...
Aquarius 21 January - 18 February
General
Suddenly there is again some color in your life. Just in time,
because it started to seem very boring to you. You do not
always have to wait for action, you can also do it yourself.
First appears that one issue is only a small incident, but
take time for it to get it right. Another may take it a little bit
more serious than you expected. You may expect an
escalation, talk about it with each other.
Love
The time of disappointment about yourself is over. Do not
get dragged by spontaneous promises. You make a very
good impression on others, and it is therefore going the
good way for you...
Finance
The chances may turn around, watch out. If you are not
afraid to take responsibility for your decisions, you can win
a big amount of money. Your confidence is a great help for
people, who are feeling not so good...
Pisces 9 February - 20 March
General
You can hardly wait! You are impatient and that is not good.
You are not ready yet. If you want it to run like you have in
your head, then you will have to be patient. You might have
to forget love. The other has no eye for you. You will be a
little frustrated and touchy about it, but that will pass. Just
remember that every threat is also a new opportunity. Don't
get thrown out!
Love
Your creativity and imagination are a boost to make your
life more active. A letter today might be playing a great role.
A person, who will soon get to know you, would have to
look quietly first...
Finance
The conditions are on good terms for a lotto ticket or to join
a game in the lottery. Be clear, if you make plans together
and hold on to your agreements. A better finance time will
come soon for you...
Epke Zonderland
The Flying Dutchman
Epke Zonderland is born in Lemmer at 16 th of April. He is 1.72 meter tall and his
weigh is 68 kg. Epke Zonderland is a professional Gymnast. He is Olympic champion
and world wide the best on the horizontal bar. We arranged an interview with Epke
Zonderland about his career and about his life how he keeps fit and energetic. Epke
Zonderland is a blonde, muscular physician-in-training and occasional player from
the Netherlands. Epkes family where always been a sport family his siblings were
also always busy with sport or doing things. He was never alone in it.
About Epke
Normal people play football at the beach or boulevard but while we were waiting for
the bus we pushed our self on the racks by the bus stops. In 2012 Epke won a
Golding medal at the Olympic games in London. Epke Zonderland was the first
gymnast at the horizontal-bar that has a three combination flight elements in a
routine. But in 2016 on the Olympic games Epke Zonderland felt of the horizontal-bar
because his hand slipped away. He had one more chance to fix his mistake but it
didn’t go very good.
His career
Since the start his career of a professional gymnast he needed to put everything
beside and focus only at this. But he trained really hard and focused 100% on the
sport. He trained every day and now he is able to do three flight elements in one
routine. Epke Zonderland was 16 months not able to train properly. But it was not a
reason to sit down and do nothing. Epke found enough things to do so he would not
shit tight and do nothing. While he keeps his focus on the sport he put more time in
spending time with his girlfriend, his family and his friends.
How do you feel about it?
“Sometimes, I’ll go over the limit; I’m aware of the health risks” those where the
words of Epke. Epke also had sometimes a few bad falls while making somersaults
of the bridge. He became afraid of somersaults. But his siblings always supported
him and always pushed him to the limits. He thinks it over and choice to move on
step by step. “I got over it, but the realization that could decide to stop on my own
was very important: gymnastics became something I really do for myself.” Epke
worked step by step to the limit and he did. In London he won a Golding medal and in
Rio de Janeiro he almost won a Golding medal. Epke lose everything for this sport
and did everything to be successful.
Dafne Schippers
Goddess of Speed
Dafne’s training camp is at Bradenton, Florida, but the photo shoot takes place at a
nearby high school athletics track. She hasn’t come here to relax. In fact, there will
be no rest until she is holding an Olympic gold medal. Her star has risen rapidly.
August 2015, Dafne won gold at the 200 m sprint of the Beijing World
Championships. In one fell swoop, she became a celebrity. Amidst all the excitement,
you’d almost forget that the world champion is a very young woman, who has
fallen in love and likes to spend weekends with her mum and dad. She is down to
earth, cheerful and open. ‘My world has been completely turned upside-down’. Dafne
says as she picks up her Caesar Salad.
What do you find difficult?
Quite a lot actually. Suddenly, everyone wants something from you.
The response you get from people is nice, but my shopping trips
take a lot of time. I am not really used to getting this much attention.
I also find it difficult when people have nasty comments on social media.
That is really difficult. But I have better things to do like go to my training.
What kind of games do you rivals play?
They will try to annoy me, or distract me. When I warm-up they will occupy my
starting block or stand there without a reason. They just stare at me when we are
together in one room. I enjoy it. I don’t use these tactics. But I have fun watching
them. I smile and keep going. Which they find really annoying.
If you are angry, does it last long?
If I lose, half a day later I am back to normal. I used to throw my shoes onto the track,
but I have learned to cope with losing. They said: ‘if you show your anger, your
opponents will see you are emotionally weak and will play games with you.
And on top of that, being angry costs a lot of energy. If I am annoyed after a race,
I look for a quiet spot. Where I can let my frustration go.
Do you get nervous before races?
No. I am not so easily impressed by anything. I am confident, I feel power. I want to get
from A to B without anyone stopping me.
The Uniform
Our newest uniform is the best one yet. Our
uniform exists of a black dress and a turquoise
scarf and heels/flats. The flight attendants also
wear a wing with the Starpoint logo on it. They
need to earn their wing in a six week intensive
training.
The training is for your comfort and safety. Only the best cabin attendants will complete
the training and will earn their wing.
Our uniform gives an example of a represented airline. Our flight attendants have to
tighten their hair into a pony-tail or bun, wear reprehensive nail-polish and make sure
they wear some nice simple make-up to show the passengers that we are there for
them and always approachable.
In the aircraft you have flight attendants, a purser and the pilots. The purser is the
team leader of the flight attendants. She wears exactly the same as the others but
has a different wing.
