NOTES FROM YOUR EDITOR
Dear Members of the Arkansas Genealogical Society:
There is no doubt, everyone is helping make our "ARKANSAS
FAMILY HISTORIAN" bigger and better each time. You can always
depend on at least one complaint tho! This time it was from
one of the Associate Editors! Quote: "If this doe.s not" slow
down, the index will not go thru the December mails!"
Many questions are being answered this time. If you do not
find your friends and relatives listed on membership list for
1975,' better see what the problems is. Tell them, there's not '
much telling what they will miss. And that is true. The information
has really poured into our office, and the Membership list
is growing so fast, we will soon have to reprint the March issue.
Everyone must be working and spreading the news, and filling in
the Ancestor Charts and sending them back to be printed into book
form (hopefully this fall). Also many have requested the names
and addresses of the Historical Societies in Arkansas, and the
Genealogical Societies, so you will find the current list of all
the known Historical & Genealogical Societies on pages 114 & 115.
Write and try to become a member, they might really have interesting
articles, you might like to know about (might even be about
your ancestors). 200 pages were promised for this years Arkansas
Family Historian, if the material was available, and you have made
much material available, just keep sending it, as it is your magazine.
We will have to reduce the next two issues to normal size,
as paper and energy will both come to an end, not to mention our
budget. All material is welcome and will find a place as space
becomes available, more Family Histories are needed at present.
But Bible Records Cemetery Inventories and other articles will
also find a place. It is sure nice to have a variety and so far
we have been lucky.
All your nice little letters and notes have not gone in the
trash (I frame most of them!) Even the "especially enjoyed" or
"was delighted to find" have been passed on to the authors. We
appreciate all kind words and remarks.
NOTICE! NOTICE! NOTICE! NOTICE! NOTICE!
The PRUDENCE HALL CHAPTER - Daughters of the American Revolution,
of North Little Rock, are working on a worthy project, and
we can all help! They would appreciate anyone letting them know
the NAMES of all the CEMETERIES in your County which have been
copied. Many are being recopied because there has not been a list
available, showing which have already been inventoried. They need
first the name of the County, name (or names if the cemetery is
known by more than one name), the direction (how to find it from
a known landmark). Then if the inventory has been printed and
if it on record at the History Commission Office in Little Rock,
at a Local Library; if it can be purchased, and if so where, and
that addre.s. Example: Pope County, all known markers in Pope
