<strong>About</strong> <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>Sharf</strong><br />

<strong>Barry</strong> <strong>Sharf</strong> assumed the position of Co-President of Emerchant Advance-<br />

Discount Merchant Funding as part of a recapitalization and expansion of the<br />

operation in November 2016. Prior to joining the company, Mr. <strong>Barry</strong> M. <strong>Sharf</strong><br />

had a successful career in the merchant cash advance industry. In 2008 he<br />

founded Bankcard Funding, which was sold as a industry leader SFS in August<br />

2008. Mr. <strong>Sharf</strong> remained on as President of the division.<br />

Before his career in the merchant cash advance space, Mr. <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>Sharf</strong> was an<br />

entrepreneur in the home medical equipment industry, growing a start-up<br />

venture, A & J Care, growing it to become the largest company of its kind in the<br />

NY Metro area. He sold this company to Kohlberg & Co. in 1999. Mr. <strong>Sharf</strong> has<br />

always been an active investor and operator in many different businesses and<br />

real estate ventures.<br />

Mr. <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>Sharf</strong> specializes in formulating dynamic financial packages, often<br />

utilizing skills learned while earning both his bachelors and MBA from NYU’s<br />

Stern School of Business. As part of his training, Mr. <strong>Barry</strong> Shar f completed a<br />

formal Credit/Lending Training Program at Republic National Bank (now part of<br />

HSBC).<br />

What separates Mr. <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>Sharf</strong> from others, is his personable nature and his<br />

ability to relate to his merchants. Mr. <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>Sharf</strong> prides himself on constantly<br />

interacting with merchants, working with them to determine the best financing<br />

options for them. It is his goal to help his merchants’ businesses to the fullest<br />

of his ability.<br />

Mr. <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>Sharf</strong> is the proud father of a son who is a junior at the University of<br />

Michigan, a daughter who graduated with honour from the University of<br />

Pennsylvania and is currently a reporter/writer at Forbes and is married to


Karen <strong>Sharf</strong>, a manager of the prestigious Real Estate firm Daniel Gale<br />

Sotheby’s.<br />

Ultimately, as a result of both his failures and successes as a business owner,<br />

Mr. <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>Sharf</strong> empathizes with merchants, truly caring about helping grow<br />

their company.<br />
