PURPOSE OF THE CHANNEL<br />

Dear Viewers, Greetings from “<strong>Surgical</strong> <strong>Educator</strong>”<br />

1. “<strong>Surgical</strong> <strong>Educator</strong>” is an educational channel<br />

launched to teach surgery to medical students and<br />

surgical trainees.<br />

2. This contain series of surgical teaching Video<br />

casts. These videos contain Problem oriented case<br />

based teaching so that all who watch, will have total<br />

immersive and trans<strong>for</strong>mational learning experience.<br />

3. Through this channel, I try to instil the nuggets<br />

of surgical wisdom distilled from many authentic<br />

sources, including standard text books.<br />

4.My ultimate aim is not to just make you to pass<br />

exams, but to make you competent to treat your<br />

surgical patients successfully. However, you can<br />

easily win any competitive exams.<br />

5. YouTube is an excellent plat<strong>for</strong>m to reach out<br />

my global audience in every part of the world.<br />

6.This channel will be very useful to<br />

those who are doing their surgical<br />

clerkship rotation. My aim is to<br />

transfer quality knowledge through<br />

innovative delivery mechanism and<br />

How to use the channel?<br />

1. I am creating and uploading my teaching videos<br />

under 5 broad categories. They are<br />

a. Didactic general surgery videos based on the<br />

above 18 clinical problems like Upper GI haemorrhage,groin<br />

swellings Etc.<br />

b. Common Pediatric <strong>Surgical</strong> problems videos like<br />

Intusussception, Neonatal bilious vomiting Etc<br />

c. Videos on Trauma Surgery like ATLS, Burns Etc<br />

d. Short videos on Case based learning- based on<br />

the system wise like Post-op complications, Biliary<br />

tract Etc<br />

e. Videos exclusively on operative surgery like open<br />

appendicectomy, laparoscopic appendicectomy Etc.<br />

2. In the playlist section of the channel you can<br />

watch all inter-related videos together as a playlist.<br />

For example in the Scrotal Swellings playlist you<br />

can watch 6 videos on various causes <strong>for</strong> Scrotal<br />

Swellings.<br />

3. In the Clinical Surgery playlist, I have included<br />

9 videos by Dr Ghan Shyam Vidhya, which I think<br />

will be very useful to undergraduate<br />

medical students to learn the vanishing<br />

art of the physical examination.<br />

4. In the liked videos playlist, I have included<br />

videos on operative surgery both<br />

open and laparoscopic and other interesting<br />

videos which I think will be very<br />

useful to my viewers. Since it will take<br />

few more years <strong>for</strong> me to cover the<br />

whole curriculum, I recommend my<br />

viewers to watch these useful videos.<br />

5. In the MCQs in Surgery playlist, I<br />

have included 12 videos by Dr Imle<br />

which consist of thousands of MCQs<br />

with answers <strong>for</strong> your practice.<br />

6. I will be extremely happy, if you find<br />

Future Plan <strong>for</strong> the Channel<br />

1. I sincerely wish these videos to reach as many medical<br />

students as possible. I am happy to in<strong>for</strong>m you that this<br />

channel has already crossed the landmark of 65Ks views<br />

and 2.1Ks subscriptions with the support of viewers from<br />

all over the world. It is having a snowball effect- as the<br />

number of videos uploaded is increasing, corresponding to<br />

that, the number of viewers per day is also steadily increasing.<br />

2. Now to take the channel to the next level, I have decided<br />

to go live once in a month to clear the viewers doubts regarding<br />

a pre assigned surgical topic at a pre fixed date<br />

and time. Viewers can chat with me live and clear their<br />

doubts.<br />
