Barcino School Academy is located in
Rector Triadó 69 Street, a few meters
from Sants Station and ten minutes
away from Plaza España. There is also
an extensive network of buses near the
school: 32, 78, 109, 27, V7, 115, H10 and
H12.

the traditional way of learning is also

FORUM
The forum is the common room in Barcino School. In
this room there is an atmosphere of leisure and
continuous work that allows all students from the
academy be part of a multicultural community.

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD
Our school is located between the district of Hostafrancs
and Sants. Both neighborhoods are very popular. There
are some tourist attractions, but you also see the typical
lifestyle in Barcelona. Ten minutes walking from our
school is the popular neighborhood of Eixample.

Spanish lessons
Students will receive Spanish lessons in the
morning. Lessons can be modified depending on
the student’s needs. It can be 2 or 4 h per day.
Lessons always will have two blocks. In the first
block we will work all the grammar. In the
second block we will work the communicative
part through a special activity prepared by the
school: "The Oscars"
Teacher will form different groups of 4 or 5
students at random. Each group should create
the story of a film from guidelines provided by
the teacher.
Session 1: Students must create a story and
start writing a script.
Sessionn 2: Review of text and correct of
errors. Also, teacher will use the most
important errors in order to review them
and clarify doubts.
Session 3:Text memorisation. Working
Spanish pronunciation and intonation. Also
they have to start thinking about costumes
and decoration and ask the teacher the
material needed to represent it
Session 4: Preparation of the film,
representation and Academy
Awards.
Students who win an Oscar will
make a speech in Spanish. During
the week the teacher will give
guidelines to the speeches, but
they will not know that until they
won the first Oscar.
Host family
Sometimes the feeling of being at home is
difficult to experience when you are living in a
foreign country, but it is possible to get by living
with a host family. This experience will ensure a
complete linguistic immersion, since the spanish
language is constantly present.
The selection of the family is based on a
thorough analysis. The following requirements
are needed:
•Spanish as mother tongue used in the daily life.
•Equipped room (bed, wardrove and desk)
•Bathroom
•Well located
•Nice home environment
About our families
The Barcino School staff is responsible of
choosing the host families: one of our members
visits each one of the candidates in order to make
sure that all the requirements are guaranteed.
Once the course is finished, each student shall fill
in a questionnaire to value the experience with
the host family.
Nowadays, there are many types of families,
therefore not all of them may be composed of
parents and children. As a result, the students will
find different types of accommodation, such as a
single parent, a couple, etc.
