Early this morning experience the awe-inspiring beauty of
the eternal symbol of love, the Taj Mahal. Often referred to
as a poem in white marble, Taj Mahal displays the saga of
love between Emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal.
En route to Jaipur, make a brief stop to visit Fatehpur Sikri,
the red sandstone Mughal palatial complex. Within the
complex lies a mosque built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar
and dedicated to Sheikh Salim Chisti, a Muslim Sufi Saint
who blessed Emperor Akbar with a son.

Agra - Jaipur
This morning after a early breakfast leave from hotel to
visit Amber fort, a fine example of Hindu and Muslim
architecture and ornamentation, built in the 16th century.

Jantar Mantar, the largest astronomical observatory built in
stone. Also drive past Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), a fine

On arrival in Delhi, you will be met by your local guide
and transferred to your hotel. After settling in, a short
tour of the beautifully planned city of New Delhi will
follow. Offering you a taste of its imperial glory, you'll
drive past the India Gate, President's House, Parliament
Building and visit the Birla Temple, made purely out of
2,000 tons of Rajasthani white marble.

Day 2
A full day tour of Delhi commences after breakfast,
beginning with the historic Old Delhi in the morning.
Lying side by side, Old Delhi dates back to the Mughal
period, whilst New Delhi was built just over a hundred
years ago. Travelling through the narrow and crowded
streets on a rickshaw will transport you back in time,
passing vibrant food markets of Old Delhi where bread
makers bake delicious scented naan from the tandoor
ovens and chai wallahs brew their sweet tea.

New Delhi - Agra
After breakfast you will be driven to Agra arriving at
your hotel in time for lunch. Despite being a small city,
Agra was once the capital of the mighty Mughal dynasty
whose strength manifested itself in the huge forts and
buildings built to maintain its power. During the
afternoon, you will visit the vast red sandstone Agra
Fort. The colossal walled city is a UNESCO World
Heritage Site, built by the Mughals in 1573 and boasts
gigantic pavilions, grand palaces and spectacular
courtyards.
Agra - Ranthambore
Day 4
This magical day starts after breakfast with a tour of one of
the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal. Words do
not do this remarkable palace justice; it really must be
seen to appreciate its stupendous beauty. Taking 17 years
and 20,000 men to build, the heartbroken Mughal
Emperor Shah Jahan dedicated this stunning white marble
monument of love to his deceased wife to enshrine her
mortal remains. Following this, you will begin your
journey to Ranthambore National Park where you will
spend the night.
Day 5
Ranthambore
Spread over 1,344 square kilometers, Ranthambore
National Park is one of the biggest and most renowned
national parks in Northern India. Once a famous hunting
ground for the gallant rulers of Jaipur, today it is home to a
variety of species including tigers, leopards, striped
hyenas, jackals, jungle cats and many more. Depart your
hotel for an early morning jungle safari where you may
even be able to spot the elusive tiger. You will return to your
hotel for breakfast and lunch with some leisure time where
you can take advantage of the hotel's outdoor swimming
pool. A second safari trip will follow in the afternoon to visit
further areas of the park.

Ranthambore - Jaipur
Today you will travel to the Pink City of Jaipur, which got
its name from the distinctive earthy red coloured
buildings, painted to emulate the red sandstone
architecture of the ancient Mughal cities. Lunch and
dinner will be served at your hotel with the rest of the
day as free time to relax or explore the largest city in
Rajasthan.

Day 7
Begin your first day in Jaipur with a visit to the spectacular
Amber Fort, the ancient capital of the royal family until
1728, located just 11km from Jaipur. Spanning over four
huge courtyards, you will travel to the centre of the fort by
either elephant or jeep, passing snake charmers, harems
of the Maharajah and the Palace of Mirrors along the way
which all make for a truly unforgettable dawn. An
afternoon city tour of Jaipur takes in the major sights
including the home of the royal family of Jaipur - The City
Palace and the Jantar Mantar, an astronomical
observatory. Lastly, marvel at the hundreds of tiny
windows on the facade of the Hawa Mahal, known to many
as the Palace of Winds, where it is said that the women of
the royal family could once watch the streets below
without being seen.
Day 8
Jaipur
The morning is left free so that after breakfast you can visit
some of the local bazaars and stalls for some last minute
shopping. Try the M1 Road and Chameliwala market for
jewellery, handicrafts, textile and more, or wander the
streets and sample the delicious and unique Rajasthani
street food that Jaipur has to offer. You will then commence
your return journey to Delhi, stopping for lunch on the
way. A final farewell dinner in Delhi will bring your tour to
a close, celebrated by a cultural dance show to round off
this unforgettable trip.

Day 1
Mumbai
Welcome to India. Upon arrival you will be transferred
to your hotel by bus. Your hotel is situated in south of
Mumbai, which is close to the Mumbai’s coastline. You
will experience the traditional Indian welcome, whilst
you complete the check-in procedures. We realise that
our guest will be tired and jet lagged by a long journey,
so the first day is for you to relax and get acclimatised to
the surrounding. A short tour is given around Mumbai
in the evening. Overnight in Mumbai.
Mumbai
Day 2
After a leisurely breakfast and a short orientation, we shall
commence our day with a full day tour of Mumbai. Mumbai,
formerly called Bombay, is a sprawling, densely populated
city on India’s west coast. On the Mumbai Harbour
waterfront stands the iconic Gateway of India stone arch,
built by the British Raj in 1924. Mumbai is the most densely
populated city in the world with over 21 million inhabitants.
It is also home to the largest film Industry called Bollywood.
We will be visiting Mani Bhavan, where Mahatma Gandhi
spent most of his time, Victoria Terminus, The Gateway of
India, Hanging Gardens and Dhobi Ghat, which is an
outdoor laundry. Overnight in Mumbai.

Mumbai - Udaipur
After breakfast you will be transferred to the Mumbai
domestic airport for your flight to Udaipur. Upon arrival
you will be transferred to your hotel from the domestic
airport. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. The
hotel is spread across vast land offering great view of the
lake city. Overnight in Udaipur.
Udaipur
Day 4
After a lavish traditional Indian Breakfast commence your
day tour of the lake city. Udaipur is a very popular tourist
destination. Apart from its history, culture, and scenic
locations, it is also known for its Rajput-era palaces. The
Lake Palace, for instance, covers an entire island in the
Pichola Lake. Many of the palaces have been converted
into luxury hotels. It is often called the "Venice of the East”.
We shall be travelling in the by lanes of Udaipur where you
will get familiarised to the city. After lunch we will
continue with our sightseeing by visiting the grand city
palace, Jagdish temple and we shall also go on a boat ride
to witness the beautiful sunset from lake Pichola.

Day 5
Udaipur
After breakfast we start our city tour riding on an Indian
auto rickshaw. The rickshaw, which is a three-wheeled
automobile, is a popular mode of transport in India and an
equally exciting way to experience and explore the cities
by-lanes. You will be taken around the local spice market
where you can also find Rajasthani artwork at display.

Udaipur - Jaipur
After breakfast we travel to the pink city of Jaipur. We
arrive at Jaipur during lunchtime. We will be transferred
to our luxurious heritage style hotel property. You will
be taken for a short city tour.

Day 7
Welcome to the pink city of Jaipur. After breakfast we start
our sightseeing with a visit to Amber Fort. Amber is the
classic romantic Rajasthani fort palace. Its construction
was started by Man Singh I in 1592, and completed by his
descendent Jai Singh I. Its forbidding exterior belies an
inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and
Hindu styles finds it's ultimate expression. Continue
sight- seeing. If weather permits you can enjoy the ride to
the fort in an elephant back.. After lunch we continue our
sight seeing tour of the pink city, we will visit The Hawa
Mahal or ‘’The Palace of the winds’’. The main architect of
this palace built of red and pink sandstone, is Lal Chand
Ustad and the palace is believed to have been constructed
in the form of the crown of Krishna, the Hindu god.

Day 8
Jaipur
Today after breakfast we shall take you to the famous Jaipur
market. Jaipur has become a very popular destination lately
especially after the movie “ The Exotic Marigold Hotel” and
“ The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” was filmed here
and other areas of Rajasthan. The market is situated in the
old city and it offers local Rajasthani artwork, garments,
precious stones, etc. The market is popular amongst
foreign tourists and showcases Indian handicraft from all
over the country.. Overnight in

Day 9
Jaipur - Agra
After an early morning breakfast we depart for Agra .We
arrive in Agra just in time for lunch After lunch we
depart for Agra fort. The Agra Fort is a UNESCO World
Heritage site located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is
about 2.5 km northwest of its more famous sister
monument, the Taj Mahal. The fort can be more
accurately described as a walled city. We also go to see
the Taj Mahal from across the Yamuna river. Later we
proceed to see the world famous inlay work on marble
by the local artisans. Return to hotel for dinner.

Day 10

through the Parliament Building of India. It is the centre of

to the fort.

After a sumptuous breakfast, bid adieu to Jaipur for the
magnificent city of Agra (243 Km away). En route, you would
be making a halt at the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri. Built
during the second half of 16th century by Mughal emperor
Akbar, Fatehpur Sikri is famous for its group of
monuments and temples.
Highly popular amongst them is Buland Darwaza, which is
titled as the largest gateway in the world. Another majestic
creation of the Mughal empire, Buland Durwaza is made up
of red sandstone and has pillars and Chhatris at its top.
After admiring its beauty, return back to the course of
Agra. On arriving, our tour representative will transfer you
to the hotel. Spend your evenings exploring the rich
handicrafts of Agra in the nearby local market.

You need to wake up early on this day as the tour
schedule starts in the wee hours. First thing in the
morning would be catching up the sight of the beautiful
Taj Mahal as it glistens with the rays of the morning sun.
One of the Seven Wonders of the World, Taj Mahal is
actually a mausoleum that is completely made up of
white marble. The great Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in
memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, built it. The
Taj Mahal is a UNESCO world heritage site and is a true
example of Islamic style of architecture.
Post breakfast; visit the other attractions of Agra. You
would be first heading to the magnificent Agra fort,
which is also a UNESCO proclaimed world heritage site.
This Mughal fort was built in red sandstone and has
many intricate structures like Diwan-I-Am and
Diwan-I-Khas in the interiors of it. If you wish, you can
visit Itmad-ud-Daula's tomb in the evening. It is a
wonderful mausoleum that is often considered as mini
Taj or Baby Taj.

Agra – Jhansi - Khajuraho
Day 7
After Agra, the next destination would be Jhansi. Early in
the morning, you would be transferred to the railway
station. From there, board the next train to Jhansi (215 km
away). On arriving Jhansi, you would be embarking on a
road trip to Orchha (18 km away).
Once a princely state, Orchha lies in the Bundelkhand
region of Madhya Pradesh. The town of Orchha was
founded in 15th century AD and in today's world it is
renowned for its numerous temples, palaces and forts.
Highly popular amongst them are the Jehangir Mahal of
Orchha (Classic Mughal architecture), Raj Mahal and
Laxmi Narayan temple (mural paintings).
As you would be done visiting the attractions of Orchha,
get back on the road to Khajuraho (172 km away). On arrival
at Khajuraho, you would be checking into a pre-booked

Situated on the banks of Yamuna River, Raj Ghat is the
memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. In the center of the
complex, lies a black marble platform, which is the actual

hours by car. Darjeeling is nestled in a setting of

Very early wakeup around (3. 30 AM) and drive to Tiger
Hill. It takes 1 Hour 20 minutes drive by Car. From Tiger

rays of the raising Sun on the Kanchenjunga. Return back
to Darjeeling and breakfast at Hotel. After breakfast this
morning you’ll visit the Tibetan Refugee Centre,

This morning you’ll drive to Rumtek. Located 25 Kms

Rumtek Monastery. See the 16th Karmapa’s relics. On

only one of its kind in the world, was set up by the
erstwhile ruler to promote research on Mahayana

Surrounded by a six-mile long wall punctuated by eight gates,
the city dates to when its strategic location on the trade route
between Europe and the Far East gave it great importance.
Also visit Old city; surrounded by a 10km long wall, has 8 gates
serving as entrances, the winding streets offer colourful street
markets with blue houses alternated with white houses and
Clock tower; a prominent landmark. The new city is settled
around this walled area.

After breakfast explore the Periyar wildlife sanctuary on
the boat, the sanctuary centerpiece being the splendid
artificial lake formed by the Mullaperiyar Dam, meanders

Tiger, bison, wild boar, sambar, monkeys, wild elephants,
antelopes and a wide variety of birds. There are over 260

Coonoor
This could be Ooty's twin, but Coonoor with its distinctive
charm is different. Mist-clad Nilgiri hills, the bright green of
the tea estates contrasting sharply against the red
poinsettias and quaint bungalows that speak stories of what
this was. It was once home to the Coons tribe, and possibly
that's where the name comes from. Famous for its verdant
surroundings and for a variety of wildflowers and birds
today is free to soak up the atmosphere of this hill station,
possibly taking a walk through tree plantations or ride the
famous toy train (Nilgiri Mountain Railway), one of the
oldest mountain railways in India and a UNESCO World
heritage site. From Coonoor to Ooty is a delightful
one-hour train journey, which most groups love to take

Delhi – Agra
After breakfast, you will be driven to Agra (3.5 hours). On
arrival in Agra you will check into your hotel.Built in the
early 16th century and the capital of mighty Mughals for a
long time, Agra is famous for its beautiful monuments of
the medieval times. The city was pampered by the Mughals
for more than two centuries — an evidence of which is
spread all over the city in form of various structures
constructed during those days. However, with the fall of
the mighty Mughals, Agra became a victim of rebels'
assertion of power and the city suffered a series of
plunders by the unruly rebellious forces.

This morning you will be driven to Ranthambore National
Park (5 hours) – en route you will visitthe deserted Mughal
city of Fatehpur Sikri.
Fatehpur Sikri was built by great Mughal Emperor Akbar in
the 16th century to serve as the capitalof his vast empire.
The city was decorated with grand courts, palaces,
mosques and gardens thatrivalled the splendours of Delhi
and Agra. However, destiny had other things in store for the
city.Shortage of water and un-rest in the north-west made
Akbar abandon the city only 13 years later.Today, even after
the passage of 400 years, the magnificence of this royal city
has not faded and remains immaculately preserved. After
visiting Fatehpur Sikri you will continue to Ranthambore
where you arrive late afternoon andcheck into your camp.

for jeep safaris inside the National Park to attempt catching

This morning you will be driven west, towards the
desert of Rajasthan. After a longish drive ofabout 7 hours
and lunch at Nagaur Fort you will arrive at your stunning
campsite surrounded by sand dunes on all sides. On
arrival check into your camp and be at leisure. Later in
the evening you will be taken on a camel to the
neighbouring sand dunes – ending the ride at a great
location where dinner has been laid out for you on top of
a dune with live music.
After a great evening retire for the night in your
comfortable tent.

Day 10
This morning you will be driven to Jodhpur (2 hours).
Founded in 1459, Jodhpur was once the capital of the
Marwar State and a major trade centre in the
16th century due to its location on the ancient silk route.
Today, Jodhpur has grown to become the second largest
city of Rajasthan without shedding its medieval splendour.
Later in the afternoon you will be taken to explore the city
in a half-day tour – visiting Mehrangarh fort, Jaswant
Thada and walking around clock tower market area.
Mehrangarh fort, one of the largest forts in India, is
unsurpassed in beauty and grandeur. Those who want to
feel the city are advised to visit the clock tower and the
nearby colourful market featuring textiles, silver and
handicrafts.

Today you will be driven to Udaipur (5 hours drive) – en route
you may visit the stunning Ranakpur Temples. Enroute we visit
Ranakpur. Renowned for its Jain temples with intricately
carved marble Pillars and Domes, Ranakpur is amongst the five
holiest places of the Jain community and exceptional in beauty.
Tucked away in a remote valley in the Aravalli ranges, it boasts
of one of the largest and most important Jain Temples in the
country. It has a four-temple complex which is famous for its
peaceful and harmonious surroundings. The temples are
believed to have been built in 1439 A.D. The temple rests on 1444
elegantly carved pillars, with no two being identical and the
realistic sculptures of celestial nymphs playing the flute in
various dance postures at a height of 45 feet are a fascinating
sight to see. The two huge bells weighing 108 kgs each, whose
sound echoes in the entire complex, add to the temple’s allure.

The Mughal Emperor Shahjahan built the Taj Mahal in 1630
AD to enshrine the mortal remains of his beloved Queen
Mumtaz Mahal. After your visit, return hotel for breakfast.

originally started by Emperor Akbar in 1565, but his son,
Jahangir, and grandson, Shah Jahan, later made valuable
additions to it.
Optional - Late afternoon proceed for Kachpura Heritage
Walk. A narrow bridle path through agriculture fields near
Mehtab Bagh takes you into the ancient village of Kachpura
and Humayun’s Mosque. The walk ends in Mehtab Bagh from

the Tamil Nadu Government. From the British hold of centre,
you will proceed to Mylapore, which was inhabited in the 16th
century by the Portuguese; visit the San Thome Church, named
for the Christian disciple (“Doubting Thomas”) who lived and

Also visit Kapaleeswarar Temple, honoring Shiva, dates back to

start with visit to Brihadeeshwara Temple, built in the 10th
century by Raja Chola. It is considered to be artistically the
most perfect of Dravida temples. Besides the temple, you will
visit the Palace most of which is in ruins housing the Tamil
University Museum, the Art Gallery, the Saraswati Mahal
Library which houses palm leaf & paper manuscripts.
Option: - See Veena, bronze making and Tanjore painting
while in Tanjore
When in Tanjore ask to be taken to one of the houses where they continue making these wonderful instruments. It is said that the Veena
is one of the three celestial musical instruments - along with flute and Mridangam - finding references from Vedic times. You can watch
hand carving this traditional instrument and speak to the owner whose family has been making Veenas for generations. For those not
familiar with the instrument, a Veena is about five feet in length consisting of a large resonator (kudam), a wooden bridge (kudurai) and
a tapering hollow neck (dandi). And it is unique to Tanjore because the instrument is made from a particular strain of matured jack fruit
tree found only here. The best part of this tour is that it can be easily done after the visit to the Big Temple. From here we proceed to a
local house to see a demonstration of bronze idol making- a process which has not changed much since the Chola times.

Today you will be driven to Karaikudi for overnight stay.
In the afternoon visit the Chettinad residences that dot the
region and built over the last 200 years. They initially started as
simple single storied buildings, but steadily grew in size and
ornamentation to huge intricate structures that will astonish
even the most seasoned traveller.
It will be a special Chettinad cuisine dinner on a banana leaf at
The Bangala.
Chettinad cuisine originated from the Chettiar community in
Chettinad region. It is one of the spiciest and the most aromatic
in India. Chettinad cuisine is famous for its use of a variety of
spices used in preparing mainly non-vegetarian food.

In the afternoon enjoy rickshaw ride and local market of
Madurai, later proceed to visit The Meenakshi temple
which remains a major religious centre attracting pilgrims
the year round, a riotously baroque example of Dravidian
architecture with gopurams (towers) covered from top to
bottom with a breathless profusion of multi-colored
images of gods, goddesses, animals and mythical figures.
In the evening, you will proceed you will witness the
evening Aarti ceremony in which Lord Shiva is carried in a
palanquin accompanied by musicians, temple singers and
priests to the temple of his consort Parvati to spend the
night.
Note: Foreigners (Non Hindus) are not allowed inside the
inner sanctum of the temple.
Madurai – Periyar

Madurai to Periyar, which is also known as Thekkady.

Optional – In the morning, in this Programme we give you
the opportunity to try a new and unforgettable experience,
off the beaten tracks of the very traditional elephant walk.
Five elephants live in this farm, under the attentive care of
their Mahouts. A very particular relationship is here created
between these wonderful pachyderms and you, and we offer
you the opportunity to spend a rare and special moment
with them. Located just outside of the city, nestled within the cardamom, coffee and pepper plantations, the surrounding itself is
already very peaceful.

walk through for spice plantation to see the cultivation of

was built in 1555 and its coronation hall and murals at
Ramayana are noteworthy features.
Continue your drive to Chinese fishing nets. The cantilevered fishing nets line the entrance to the harbour mouth. Chinese traders are
believed to have originally introduced them in the 14th century although, today parts of the nets are known by Portuguese names. Your
next stop will be St. Francis Church, originally named after Santo Antonio and dedicated to him as the Patron Saint of Portugal; St.

The train arrives at Bharatpur by 05:00 hours. Bharatpur is

Tadoba Tiger Reserve
The third day of the journey is for wildlife viewing at the
Tadoba Tiger Reserve, also known as ‘The Jewel of Vidharba’.
During morning and afternoon safaris, you can spot a vast
variety of flora and fauna species including panthers, tigers,
jackals, sloth bears, hyenas, barking dear, bison, wild dogs,
sambhars, nilgai, cheatal, jaumn, Salari, Mahua, Dhaoda,
Flying Squirrel, Indian Bison and more. Dinner and
overnight on-board the Deccan Odyssey.
Ajanta Caves
Day 4
On day 4, the train reaches Jalgaon railway station. After
having breakfast aboard, get down the train for driving up to
UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ajanta Caves, a World
Heritage site. Carved between the 2nd century BCE to about
480 or 650 CE, these rock-cut caves contain sculptures and
murals depicting the life and times of Lord Buddha. Around
30 in number, these caves are a specimen of Indian artistry.

Nashik
On the 5th day, the train arrives in Nashik, known as the

Varanasi
Early morning on the 6th day of the trip, you will arrive in
Varanasi, a temple town mostly visited by Hindu pilgrims.
Also known as Kashi, Varanasi is famous for its temples, its
bathing Ghats, the beeline of devotees, and numerous
‘sadhus’ or sages. On your arrival in town, you can undertake
a boat ride on the River Ganga and explore the city
attractions besides also visiting Sarnath, popular for its
Buddhist stupas and caves.
Lunch will be served in a premier restaurant in the city
following which you can return to the train for some
moments of leisure. Exploration of this religious town will definitely rekindle your spiritual side in a big way!
