The Machines & Mechanisms solutions promote<br />
enjoyable and easily accessible classroom tools<br />
with which students can develop skills such<br />
as creative problem solving, communication of<br />
ideas and teamwork. The activities lead students<br />
to make initial use of scientific methodology<br />
through observation, reasoning, prediction and<br />
critical thinking.<br />
There are three age-specific solutions that are<br />
specially designed to gradually develop students’<br />
understanding and knowledge of Machines &<br />
Mechanisms:<br />
• Lay the foundation with the Early Simple Machines<br />
Solution by introducing the basic mechanical<br />
principles to students within the age range 5-7.<br />
• Build knowledge with the Simple Machines Solution<br />
by introducing students within the age range 7-9<br />
to the engineering design process and enabling<br />
them to test, predict, measure, collect data, and<br />
describe outcomes.<br />
• Develop further with the Simple & Powered Machines<br />
solution by providing students aged 8+ with an<br />
environment to experiment and investigate powered<br />
forces and motion, speed and pulling power.<br />
