Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who have
supported us since we opened the doors on
the 20th June 2016. I guess all new ventures
hold some uncertainly and we certainly held
our breath at 8:00am on the day of opening. We knew
that we had secured some excellent ‘market leading’
franchises and although we had the promise of support
from customers it was a daunting few days.
Since the 20th June we have provided a parts solution
for many customers, from a humble lynch pin to
genuine parts for combines and tractors along with
wearing metal for many brands of cultivators and drills.

Derek who started in June has over
30 years’ parts experience and joins

VFM awarded the
HM Trailer franchise
We were asked by a
customer who had
been let down with
hire trailers just before
grain harvest to find
him two hire 16T grain
trailers. We contacted
HM Trailer who within
48 hours delivered
two brand new, full
spec 16T grain trailers
direct to farm. The
customer commented
on how well the
trailers handled at
high speed and the
low height required to
tip the trailers. After
an invitation to visit
Herons Farm, Essex,
home of HM trailers
we were offered
the franchise for
NORTHAMPTONSHIRE,
RUTLAND,
LEICESTERSHIRE,
OXFORDSHIRE, and
WARWICKSHIRE which
we were delighted to
accepted. To date have
sold two grain trailers
with enquiries for bales

fully equiped service vehicle. Service support is now available
for our main franchises Amazone, OPICO, HE-VA, Mashico,
Stratmann and SKY drills either on farm or in our workshop.

Ford tractors & New Holland combines VFM can offer customers a
comprehensive combine winter servicing program, scheduled tractor servicing
and general farm machinery & plant repairs. We can also install and calabrate

Amazone spreaders & Sprayers
As the new farming year gets under way with Autumn drilling now
completed, thoughts are turning to Spring 2017 and the fertiliser
spreading season. Great Deals on ZA-V and ZA-TS spreaders up
to 54m spread.

the 6.0m trailed Catrus this Autumn. We have been particularly
impressed with the ability to move all the soil whilst working at
shallow depths and leaving a very level ‘weather proof’ finish.

HE-VA cultivation equipment
HE-VA Disc Roller
Micro-Pro 16
HE-VA has updated its Disc Roller range
to improve contour following and allow
more precise cultivation. Originally
launched in 2003, the HE-VA Disc Roller
is a popular shallow disc cultivator on
UK farms. Whilst the new Disc Roller
Contour uses the same proven disc
elements, it also now incorporates
HE-VA’s tried and tested Special Active
Transfer (SAT) system from its Roller
range. This allows the machine to
follow field contours and ensures even
consolidation across the full working
width of the machine. The model sizes
available in the new Contour range have
changed to allow machines to tie in with
guidance and Controlled Traffic Farming
(CTF) systems. Disc section working
widths of 3.25, 4.25, 5.25, 6.25m and
7.75m are available, with each machine
utilising a press roller 0.25m wider than
the disc section to ensure an even,
consolidated finish. The Disc Roller
Contour 650, with a 6.25m working
width, will be unveiled on the OPICO
stand at the LAMMA event in 2017.
The MICRO PRO 16 has been developed to enable accurate application
of micro-granules such as Avadex up to 12m working widths when
mounted on a variety of implements. It has 16 outlets giving a spacing
of 75cm between outlets for a robust double overlapping spread
pattern. Each outlet is fed by an individual metering roller ensuring even
micro granule distribution across the entire working width. Forward
speed related metering ensures a constant rate. In independent tests
measuring the complete spread pattern the MICRO PRO 16 spreading at
12m has produced a market leading coefficient of variation of 5.36%
Sky Drills
Sky-Agriculture Seed Drills provide high capacity drilling
solutions for all soil conditions and cultivation systems.
No matter which model you choose the design focuses on
achieving maximum productivity by allowing drilling in a large
range of working conditions to increase the window in which
crops can be established.
The Sky MaxiDrill enables drilling on ploughed, deep and
shallow cultivated soil and, in good conditions, directly into
uncultivated soils.
The Sky EasyDrill is specifically designed as a direct drill
but works equally well in minimum tillage conditions, on
consolidated ploughed soil and when drilling into cover crops.
The Sky attention to detail can easily be recognised on first
inspection. Every drill is finished to very high standards and
there are a range of clever features to make them very user
friendly.

AMAZONE & TRIMBLE Demo Day
We held an Amazone and Trimble demonstration day on the 5th
October at Moulton College. Over 100 students and around
40 customers joined us to see Amazone ploughs, cultivators,
sprayers & fertiliser spreaders in action along with tractors
guided and steered by Trimble GPS systems. Three customers
have since purchased steering guidance systems and another
three have ordered new Amazone fertilizer spreaders for 2017
as a direct result of the demo day.
SKY DRILL EVENING
The Sky “No-till and Cover Crop Roadshow” was
aimed at providing some clarity on the benefits
and pitfalls of different cover crop species and
mixtures. OPICO and Venture Farm Machinery
invited customers to come and learn more
about the benefits of integrating cover crops
into their rotations and how to navigate the
transition to No-till. No direct drill is a magic
wand that will allow farmers to instantly farm
without tillage.
There is a transitional period required
between conventional tillage and No-till
where soils need to be improved and
rotations altered to allow No-till to
be successful. At the meeting, we
outline some of the key aspects to
consider and provide information
from Sky’s extensive experience
with Cover crops and No-till in many
parts of Europe and the world.
