Travel report: Japan
Land of the
rising sun
and enormous
opportunity
In early February, Jack Aartsen and Menno van Breemen paid a
visit to the land of the rising sun. Although aartsenfruit distributes
widely across over 15 countries in Asia, Japan is one country in
which aartsenfruit has yet to establish a presence.
Hopefully, the first deliveries to this fascinating land will be taking
place right around the time this Refresh is published.
Menno van Breemen reports on a brief visit to a promising country.

Japan has just under 130 million inhabitants and is made up of 6,852 islands.
The four largest of these are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku;
together they represent about 97% of Japan’s land area. Hokkaido is the
northernmost island and has a reputation as a perfect area for skiing.
All the way to the south, we find Okinawa. The country has a number of
cities that serve as major distribution hubs for vegetable and fruit;
we visited Tokyo. With nearly 40 million inhabitants, this is the largest city
in the world in terms of population. Which means plenty of potential!
