Admission Information<br />
Admission to the College is open to all graduates of<br />
accredited high schools, students who have earned<br />
the General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and home<br />
schooled students. To be considered for admission,<br />
applicants must submit a completed application, the<br />
application fee, and official transcripts of all high<br />
school and/or college course work; or GED diploma<br />
and score report.<br />
A student may choose to pursue a degree on a fulltime<br />
(12 credits or more per semester) or part-time<br />
(less than 12 credits per semester) basis. For financial<br />
aid and/or scholarship consideration, students must<br />
be accepted and enrolled in one of the College’s<br />
degree programs.<br />
HERE TO HELP<br />
The SUNY Orange Admissions Office staff is<br />
available throughout the year to assist you with your<br />
college decision-making process. Whether you are<br />
a high school student, an adult considering your<br />
college options or a transfer student with college<br />
credit already completed, the Admissions Office can<br />
help get you started. The staff organizes Collegewide<br />
Open House events and program-specific<br />
information sessions throughout the year. We also<br />
maintain an active off-campus recruiting schedule<br />
at high schools and public venues throughout the<br />
county, and sponsor activities on-campus and online<br />
to introduce prospective students to the academic<br />
and extracurricular opportunities available at SUNY<br />
Orange.<br />

APPLICATION DEADLINES<br />
Completed applications are reviewed and decisions<br />
are made on a rolling basis throughout the year. Early<br />
applications are encouraged.<br />

PROGRAM-SPECIFIC<br />
ADMISSION CRITERIA<br />
Honors <strong>Program</strong>:<br />
Admission to the Honors <strong>Program</strong> is open to firsttime<br />
and transfer applicants. First-time college<br />
students must be graduates of a college prep high<br />
school program and meet one of the following<br />
criteria: 90 high school average at end of junior<br />
year or class rank in top 10 percent of the class;<br />
or combined SAT score of 1200 (Math/Critical<br />
Reading) or 1800 (3 parts), or ACT score of 27.<br />
High school seniors with accumulated college credit<br />
(12 or fewer credits) must have also attained a GPA<br />
of 3.5 for completed college courses. Transfer students<br />
or first-time college students who have earned 12 or<br />
more college credits must have attained a cumulative<br />
GPA of 3.5 or higher and provide a two to five page<br />
typed essay to be considered. In addition, all Honors<br />
<strong>Program</strong> candidates must place into Freshman<br />
English 1 (or obtain a waiver).<br />
Health Professions <strong>Program</strong>s<br />
Admission to the Health Professions programs is<br />
competitive and requires submission of a health<br />
professions application and completion of programspecific<br />
admissions requirements.<br />

Spring Nursing program: Oct. 1<br />
LPN to RN program (Middletown campus): Oct. 1<br />
LPN to RN program (Newburgh campus): June 1<br />
International Applicants or<br />
Applicants with Foreign Credentials:<br />
Students who have attended or graduated from<br />
secondary school and/or universities outside of the<br />
United States must follow the College’s general<br />
application process and provide English translations<br />
of all transcripts. Students must submit a courseby-course<br />
evaluation prepared by World Education<br />
Services (www.wes.org), or another member of the<br />
National Association of Credit Evaluation Services<br />
(www.naces.org).<br />
If you are applying for a student visa (F1), or if you<br />
are currently attending a U.S. college or university<br />
and wish to transfer to SUNY Orange on a student<br />
visa, you must complete the International Student<br />
Application Packet online at www.sunyorange.edu/<br />
admissions/apply/international.shtml.<br />

READMISSION TO<br />
SUNY ORANGE<br />
SUNY Orange students who were previously<br />
enrolled but have not attended the College for two<br />
or more semesters (excluding Summer) are required<br />
to complete a new application.<br />
Application deadline: two weeks prior to the start of<br />
the semester<br />
FINANCIAL AID<br />
The staff of the Financial Aid Office can assist you<br />
as you make plans to begin or continue your college<br />
education. All degree-seeking students who attend<br />
full-time or part-time are eligible for financial<br />
aid consideration. The Financial Aid staff hosts<br />
workshops throughout the year to assist students<br />
and parents with the financial aid process. These<br />
hands-on workshops include assistance with filing<br />
the FAFSA online. For the workshop schedule and<br />

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)<br />
To apply for federal student aid for college and for<br />
most state and institutional aid, you must complete<br />
and submit a Free Application for Federal Student<br />
Aid (FAFSA) each year you attend. Apply online at<br />
www.fafsa.ed.gov. The SUNY Orange federal school<br />
code is 002876.<br />
Upon submission of a completed FAFSA, students<br />
who are New York State residents should use the<br />
link to New York State found on the confirmation<br />
page to complete the TAP application. The SUNY<br />
Orange state school code is 2125.<br />
Scholarship Opportunities<br />
In addition to state and federal loans and grants, a<br />
number of scholarships have been established for<br />
SUNY Orange students. SUNY Orange scholarships<br />
range in value from a few hundred dollars for books<br />
to full-tuition, renewable awards. The scholarships<br />
are awarded annually by the College’s Scholarship<br />
Awards Committee. Application Deadline: March 1<br />
Payment Plan<br />
The payment plan enables you to pay your tuition<br />
and fees in equal installments. Students can enroll<br />
in the plan during the fall and spring semesters. Two<br />
payment options are offered: a four payment plan<br />
and a three payment plan.<br />

Understanding the SUNY Orange Degrees<br />
The Associate in Science (A.S.) and Associate in Arts (A.A.) degrees prepare students for transfer to<br />
baccalaureate programs. The Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree programs provide two<br />
years of college-level studies with an emphasis on developing technical and professional competence<br />
for entry into a specific career.<br />
