What will be the impact of the new building?
The campus of Texas Tech is growing and so is the ministry and
vision of Tech BSM. A new building will build excitement among
an increasing student population and will also provide additional
space that we currently lack— including a prayer room, missions
room, leadership training area, and a larger meeting room. These
areas will serve as catalysts to our vision of reaching the campus.
Why now?
With the growth of the campus and the excitement concerning
the mission of the BSM on the campus, the time to build a new
building became obvious. And with the generous lead gift by
former Tech professor and BSM supporter Dr. Robert H. Pinder,
a new building that will enhance and insure the future of Tech
BSM is becoming a reality.
Where will the new building be located?
We will build on our current property. We feel our existing
location is still the prime location for our ministry.
What is the projected timeline?
Construction will begin when the funds are committed, hopefully
by the end of 2017. When funds are raised, we plan to tear down
our existing building at the end of a fall semester and build
during the spring semester. This would allow us to start the
school year in the fall with a new building.
How will the funds be raised to finance this project?
A Capital Campaign will be conducted to communicate the impact
of this project. Alumni, friends of the BSM, churches, corporations,
foundations, and interested individuals will receive information
concerning this effort and be asked to give generously.
Where will the ministry be housed during construction?
We have several partnering churches and ministries that
have offered to work with us, and as a Texas Tech student
organization, we also have the option of using campus facilities.
Is the BSM just for Baptist Students?
The BSM is for all students. This ministry is made possible by
Baptist churches, but is focused on every Red Raider having the
opportunity to know and follow Christ.
