Street Style
Trend:
Oversized
Big shoulders, extra-long
sleeves and a cinched waist:
the look that took over the
streets at Fashion Week this
season. Take a lesson in
style from these looks
spotted by Sandra Semburg
in New York, London, Milan
and Paris.

Spring/Summer 2017 Fashion Trends:
The 4 Looks You Need to Know
From Left to Right: Gucci,
Altuzarra, Miu Miu, Dolce &
Gabbana, Chanel
Style Notes: Inspired undoubtedly
by Gucci opening the doors to an
everyday kind of eccentricity, many
designers are pushing forward with
the concept of mix and match. If
that sounds daunting, don't be
afraid. There's something inherently
wearable about the new wave of
eclecticism, and you'll often find
that individual pieces are entirely
easy to wear on the regular. Take
Dolce setting jeans against madcap
combination of bejeweled
accessories, trophy jacket and motif
tee—a great going-out outfit.
From Left to Right: Loewe, Bottega
Veneta, Jil Sander, Stella
McCartney, Hermès
Style Notes: Just don't call it
minimalistic. There's so much more
to the catwalk's beautiful antithesis
to all of the mix 'n' match madness
we've already spoken out. This
brand of purism comes armed with
subtle details to make even the
simplest item (take a cardigan, for
example) seem like the most
exciting thing you've ever seen.

From Left to Right: Marques'Almeida, Chloé,
Balenciaga, Dries Van Noten, Erdem
Style Notes: "Florals? For spring?
Groundbreaking," recites every person who has
watched The Devil Wears Prada ever. Well,
actually, this time around, they really are. So rad
in colouration, scale, fabrication and mood that
designers thought it best to go full throttle in full
blooms from head to toe—shoes included.
From double doses of Rococo-style jacquard
florals with ruffles and raw hems at
Marques'Almeida to subdued, blousy '70s
bouquets at Chloé and neon carnations at
Balenciaga, there is nothing standard about
these arrangements. No ditsy prints here in this
S/S 17 version of the fashion trend, thanks.
From Left to Right: Moschino, Isabel Marant,
Rodarte, Saint Laurent, Haider Ackermann
Style Notes: Did you not believe us last season?
We predicted that the '80s trend was no passing
one, and the proof was all over the S/S 17
catwalks. If Isabel Marant—our appointed
queen of boho—has even stepped into the realm
of high-shine fabrics and draped volume, you
know this isn't a decade dip to be ignored.
The essence of the new '80s redux really lies in
after-dark wares. You probably won't find much
of the mood filtering into daywear, but when it
comes to going out, there's much to play with,
from silhouette-enhancing nipped waists
fastened with giant belts to flirty hemlines
balanced out by big shoulders. Crystal earrings
and sky-high stilettos are key—and no one did
them with more ferociousness than Saint
Laurent's new creative director, Anthony
Vaccarello.

The Shoe Trends
Everyone Will
Wear in 7 Months
M E T A L L I C S
We've been on shoe trend
watch for the past month (tough
gig, we know). And now
that Paris Fashion Week has
drawn to a close and every
designer has shared with the
world the footwear they're
endorsing for autumn 2017,
we've come to some conclusions.
We scanned the runways of New
York, London, Milan and Paris for
shoe trends that appeared over
and over again, and we narrowed
it down to six that everyone is
talking about now, and
therefore choose to wear come
September.
NYFW Trend #1:All Fishnet
Everything
L-R: Jason Wu, 3.1 Phillip
Lim.
The street's obsession with
fishnet tights and socks has
filtered onto the catwalks and
the fabric is being used in a
myriad of ways, most
prominently via mesh layering
tops.
NYFW Trend #2: Biker-Girl Leather
Clockwise from top left: Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Proenza
Schouler, Monse.
Wear hides head-to-toe and simply swap out your skinny jeans on
the weekend or even layer up with an evening dress. The options
for leather pants are endless, according to New York's most
influential designers.
NYFW Trend #3: The Wool Suits of Wall
Street
Clockwise from top left:
Zimmermann, Victoria Beckham
Whether worn loose and baggy
with flats, cropped and made
girlish with frills, checked,
wrapped, fluted… There was a
grey suit for every girl to be
found during NYFW. And if
Victoria Beckham is on board,
you know this trend is taking off.

MAKE UP TRENDS FOR 2017
Break out your blush and throw away your beauty inhibitions.
This season's backstage makeup trends were all about electric
color and tactile textures worn with fierce confidence.

3 Quick Tips
for Dressing
Up Your
Jeans
Jeans: We love them. We
couldn't imagine a
complete wardrobe
without a pair. They
are the fail-safe fashion
item that we pull out
when we have nothing
else to wear—or when
there's no time to even
think about it. Jeans are
also one of our go-to
pieces for any event, be
it brunches, evening
'dos, or for the office (if
you're lucky and not
lumbered with a strict
dress code). But—and
we're all susceptible to
this—we can find
ourselves in a style rut
when it comes to styling
them in new and exciting
ways. It can all get a
little bit boring.
A BLAZER AND BELT
STYLE NOTES: This one’s totally simple, as we
guarantee you’ve got both of these items in
your wardrobe already, no?
TUCKING IT IN
STYLE NOTES: Want to look smarter in literally
two seconds? Tuck in your top for a more
polished finish.
