Although she has had no recent hallucinations and feels healthy,<br />
Commissioner <strong>Hannah</strong> <strong>Mangold</strong> has been suspended from active<br />
duty. Meanwhile, her partner <strong>Lucy</strong> has taken on a difficult case:<br />
a Berlin couple has vanished in a forest. It quickly becomes<br />
apparent the two woodsmen Hannes and Eugen have something<br />
to do with their disappearance.<br />
When <strong>Hannah</strong> accompanies <strong>Lucy</strong> to their boss’ farm, Harald<br />
Kurtz, she is shaken by a sudden hallucination – a boy imprisoned<br />
in a dog kennel. Instinctively, <strong>Hannah</strong> knows a child is in danger<br />
somewhere on the farm.<br />
Taking a leave of absence, <strong>Hannah</strong> starts working at the farm,<br />
caring for bedridden Arthur Meckenstock. Before he got ill, he<br />
ruled the farm with an iron fist. <strong>Hannah</strong> learns Arthur’s grandson<br />
Killian, whose mother Heidi just committed suicide, also lives<br />
on the farm and that Heidi was Harald Kurtz’ wife. Out of the<br />
blue Arthur drops a bombshell: Heidi did not kill herself, Kurtz<br />
murdered her.<br />
On the day Heidi died, the couple went missing. Even more<br />
disturbing: the two lovers were not the only ones who never<br />
returned from Meckenstock’s forest.<br />
