Parsons House was the winner
of the first major House
Downing. It was encouraging
to see so many parents and
supporters cheering swimmers
during the carnival.
Swimming Carnival Results
Outstanding performances from Perth Modern School students resulted
in the School maintaining its standing in the Division A Swimming
Carnival for the first time. Perth Modern School finished fourth on
515 points. Perth Modern School won Division D in 2004, Division C
in 2005 and finished second in Division B in 2006, thus competing in
Division A for the first time in 2007.
In 2007 we finished eighth and were
relegated to Division B for 2008. We
came second in 2008 and, competing
in Division A again in 2009, were once
again eighth and relegated to Division
B. After winning Division B in 2010 and
competing in Division A again this year,
we scored more than double our 2007
point score.
Congratulations to all our Squad
members and to Chien Yi Loo
(Runner-Up 14 Years Girls’ Champion)
and Trond Vlot (Runner-Up 16 Years
Boys’ Champion). Our morning training
sessions at the UWA pool, swimming
camp and PE swimming sessions have
all been important in our improvement.
Special thanks to our Swim Coach,
Mrs Robyn Winter, who has worked
extremely hard in developing our squad
with innovations like the 5 Year Club
and specialist stroke coaches. Robyn’s
daughter, Lauren, who has recently
returned from a university swimming
scholarship in the USA, also made
a huge contribution by coaching at
morning training sessions and giving
valuable advice to students on the
Carnival day.
