No, despite Northern stereotype I’m a cat man LANES/THAMES WATER WASTE NETWORK SERVICES TO 2020 We are pleased to announce that we have had our long standing contract for all civil engineering activities on the Thames Water waste network in North East, North Central and South East London extended for a further four years to 2020. Our client on this work is Lanes Group and we deliver this through our Cappagh Browne JV vehicle. Nigel Williams and his hard working team have been delivering this contract since 2005 and have been particularly busy in the past year with a focus on constantly improving standards on health and safety and customer service being key objectives for the team. J Browne Managing Director, Paul McMahon, hailed the news saying, “We are delighted with this significant award, which will enable us to invest in our business and our people and help us concentrate on providing an excellent service for Lanes, Thames Water and their customers”. -------------------------------------------------------- SOUTH EAST WATER RESERVOIR CONTRACT EXTENDED We are delighted to announce that we have recently extended our reservoir maintenance agreement with South East Water for a further 2 years. This extension will keep us in place until late 2018 on this contract. We started the contract in April 2013 and have worked closely with the South East Water team to deliver a safe quality service for the past 3 years. We also carry our minor and intermediate non infrastructure works for South East Water. The work involves delivering all civil engineering maintenance and cleaning activities for the entire reservoir assets in the South East Water region, which covers large parts of Kent, Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire. Project Manager Adrian Pile said, “We are very pleased to be continuing to deliver these essential services for South East Water and will look to deliver an excellent service for the following 2 years”. Projects Enisca Browne South East Water Framework Update John Sanders and his Enisca Browne team have been very busy in recent months delivering South East Water’s Minor and Intermediate Capital Treatment Frameworks. The growing team is co-located to facilitate collaboration and ensure we deliver South East Water’s AMP 6 business plan safely, on time and to budget. The programme involves helping our client upgrade their treatment works, pumping stations and reservoirs to ensure a reliable and safe supply of drinking water for their customers across Sussex, Kent and Surrey and Hampshire. The individual projects cover all aspects of non-infrastructure delivery including booster stations, filtration plant upgrades, borehole maintenance, health and safety enhancements, flowmeter install, and various electrical and mechanical project works including panel manufacture. The service provided also includes a full mechanical and electrical in-house design capability. One of the challenges is operating in a large geographic area and makes good planning essential to ensure our resources are utilised efficiently. Our dedicated planning team work closely with SEW to plan, prioritise and continually refine a large and varied workload. John says “We are now in year 2 of the AMP and we are starting to see some real efficiencies; we are very pleased with the progress to date. We enjoy working as part of the South East Water team and we feel working collaboratively is delivering tangible benefits particularly at the preconstruction and planning stage”. Ensica Browne were recently engaged to design and construct a new pumping station at Mount Reservoir including new booster pumps, new MCC, new pipework and valves, new control system, and upgraded power supply. eight 2 O Project Hampstead Reservoir – Thames Water Site We have been busy at Hampstead reservoir in North West London installing a new intelligent membrane over the existing reservoir structure for eight 2 O and Thames Water. Hampstead Service Reservoir is a wonderful example of mid Victorian architecture and epitomises the specific genre of public works found throughout Great Britain. The reservoir was constructed in 1856 for the New River Company to serve Hampstead, with the water being delivered by pipes from Highgate. The company was absorbed into the Metropolitan Water Board in 1902. We are working around the meteorological station, observatory and beekeeping hives, all of which have been located on the land under Thames Water’s Consent for many years. The reservoir comprises of two brick built underground holding cells that supply water to the Hampstead area. The work is being phased over two sections, with a temporary sealed membrane being placed on Cell B, so that overburden soils stripped to allow for the new Intelligent Membrane layers and perimeter drainage to be installed on Cell A. We have also been awarded some additional remedial work within Cell A, following an inspection by Thames Water once the structure was drained to allow the work to commence. The decorative cast iron perimeter railing surrounding Hampstead water reservoir forms part of the site heritage and is protected under listed status. Extreme care and consideration was required to mitigate any lifting and material movements. A temporary works loading platform was constructed to the east of the site at Hampstead Grove. This was to ensure lifting was controlled as the reservoir is elevated 10 to 15m above road level. Handover of the first phase of the work took place in December 2016, with phase two commencing in January 2017. Barry Jones new Head of Operations We are delighted to announce that Barry Jones has joined us as Head of Operations. Barry has over 15 years’ experience working in utilities and was most recently working as part of the senior management team for Thames Water’s Infrastructure Alliance. Barry will take responsibility for the operational delivery of the business with a focus on safe, efficient project delivery. He will place a big emphasis on helping to deliver excellent customer service and SIM performance for our clients. We wish Barry the best in his new role and welcome him to the business.
